I'm telling you this song is MASSIVE in Korea. This was the comeback day6 had to go on a hiatus due to 2 members having anxiety at that time. They had no promotions for this song whatsoever but the kpop industry promoted the song for them instead. Istg EVERYONE was recommending this song that time. All songs on their The Demon album dominated the charts despite not having promotions. We didn't even get any live performances until December 2023 from their first concert as a complete group.
I recall Young K saying he used this bass in the video because it looks good, and he knew they'd be filming in water so didn't want to risk his usual instrument.
not sure about the reason for the guitar choices because Zombie mv was the first time they used them publicly but the instruments have names! lol 4:45 Jae's guitar is Blackjae 6:21 Sungjin's guitar is Ko-keu 5:28 Young K's bass is Ola 3:47 Wonpil's keyboard is Cindy 7:05 Dowoon's drum set is Crush a little useless fun fact. they named all their instruments. they have others they usually use live and has been with them for a long time that fans recognize and we call them by their names (there's Haru, Goldie, Lisa, Baba, Atom, Sir Nutcracker the 3rd... it's a whole list) it's quite endearing lol
lmfao and now they even have new instruments. Young K got Ricky (Rickenbacker bass). Sungjin also used a new electric and acoustic guitar for the wtts concert. Not sure tho if the acoustic guitar was his since Atom (the acoustic guitar he mainly uses) is currently sick so it can be just a temporary replacement, or maybe it's really his. It's so fun to see them pick names for their instruments lol. Like you have Young K naming a FLY a suave name 'Alexandro' or a dog named 'Eduardo Charlie Davidson the 3rd' but he names his favorite bass 'Goldie' because it's color gold. And now his new son 'Ricky' because it's a Rickenbacker bass😭
I actually love the lyrics to the English version as I relate a lot to this song. It’s my favorite Day 6 song & definitely my go to when I’m feeling down.
I'm not a "JYP" stan (don't really stan companies like that) but I am a day6 fan and patron- definitely here for more of them on the channel! Hard to know what to rec for themI'd want you to listen to aaaall of their discography- though my fav albums are The Demon and Entropy, think you'd love them! The Day6 guide by Wonpilates would also be a good shout. Simon, they do have emotional connections to their insturments (they all have names) but I'm pretty sure YoungK's bass (who we now know as Ola) was a new purchase for Zombie era so I couldn't really tell you what motivated the choice!
Others have mentioned the English version of the song, and I just wanted to say that as a native English speaker, the poignancy of the song is so much more intense when you hear it in English. Like, it is a fantastic song on any measure, but when you really get to digest the lyrics in a language you understand, it takes on a whole new magnificence. I think we've all felt like "zombies" at some point, and them releasing this song as the pandemic hit really resonated with so many people and made it the powerhouse song it became The instruments thing, I think it's just because of the set of the MV. I remember when "You Make Me" was released and being super nervous that the drum set was so close to the water; it's the same idea. If anything goes wrong with water, at least it won't be AS bad

With fear of being side eyed by Kerry, I found the instrument talk really interesting, would love to see more k-rock on the channel, and have Simon waffle on about them
I love this song so much! And actually the english version is hands down one of the BEST english versions of a kpop song ever. Both are soo well written and I think that for once the translation and pronounciation is pretty much perfect!

I don't really understand stanning companies, I just listen to whatever artists I want, but I'm always down to see more Day6 reactions! (and maybe some exJYP Got7 🤭) The Demon album is insanely good, hope you check out some of the b-sides, like Love me or Leave me, 1 to 10, Afraid. Sungjin - with the scratchier voice you like - released on their yt a solo/demo version of Afraid (he wrote it) if you want to hear some more of him.
Would never proclaim to be a fan of many of the big companies themselves but definitely a fan of several of the artists (love the artist, hate the company 😂 you know how it goes). I will always watch your JYP artist videos!
