Jerry’s comedy (and Larry David’s) is a little abrasive… but that is the entire reason he and Seinfeld was popular. Calling him unpleasant or mean is just off base

I don’t think the examples given (other than the interview with Larry David) were bad, but I’ve heard other negative stuff about him too. Some might be justified but it seems he’s generally not a great person.

Sean Connery. In Edinburgh. Jumped the queue in a Macdonald’s. The waitress didn’t recognize him and told him to go back to the end of the line. He obliged. Later she realized who he was. She was so embarrassed. But he just smiled and apologized for jumping the queue. Telling her she was right to scold him. What a man. 😊

I was at a music festival recently and he invited fans up on the stage to do a shoey with them (for non Australians, a shoey is chugging a drink from a shoe - don’t ask) he also stopped his set 5+ times for fans who were getting thrown around in the mosh. He cooked barbecues for firefighters battling the Californian wildfires, invited a blind kid up to the stage on a tour, gave his own shoe to a girl in crutches, tries his hardest to stop fights at gigs, performed in the garages of his most hardcore fans, gives lots of his money to charity, once left a 100% bar tip, and so much more, he is often referred to as the "nicest guy in rock".

He declined hugging someone he didn't know (he is allowed to set his boundaries) he riffed on Larry King which was totally warranted and expected for a comic to respond that way, and was upset over a famous person acting like an ass and being upgraded.....notice it was never against the fans or public? I met him after he did 4 shows at the paramount in seattle, it was like 1am and a group had gathered to see about getting an autograph when he left. He walked out, dropped his bags, greeted everyone and just walked into the crowd (pissing off his security) and signed and talked for a good 30 minutes, made sure everyone got an autograph, said thanks everyone and took off. He also expressed how he was depressed in a joking manner early in the set, but as the show went on, the jokes and acts that he did really showed how depressed he really is BECAUSE he feels he is getting older. From joking about his grown children's friends to singing a 10 minute tribute to Chris Farley, i feel the whole performance seemed like a tribute to his entire life, like he was saying goodbye to the fans.. I just hope he is happy and remembers that he is loved by more people than he could imagine

I went with my friends to one of his comedy shows in Toronto (I think it was there, not sure) a while back, and after his routine was over, he greeted a ton of fans and was a really nice guy. He was a bit cocky at times like with Larry king, but he had a point with Kesha. I thought it was totally weird how she did that, and I don’t blame him for not wanting to hug a stranger.

@@wubbalubbadubdub5867 How do you know this? You'd have to literally have a personal relationship with him to say that him being nice to fans is a facade. I feel like him not wanting to hug Kesha is totally within his rights, some people aren't huggers. He's a bit mean ofc, but that's also kind of his thing. On Seinfeld he is literally just playing himself, that's kind of his entire bit. He's not a bad guy, but he's not a super nice guy. I think there's a difference between being kind and understanding and being polite. He can be rude and snarky, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't go out of his way to help a friend or be there for someone in need. The dude does a ton of charity work with his wife. I think it's a stretch to say that he's a bad dude just because he's mean. Some people just aren't nice, they're dry and sarcastic, but that doesn't discredit the good things he does do. It gives you a reason not to like the person of course, but doesn't make that person objectively bad like some of the other examples here.

It's hard to judge a person "in general" because there will always be an exception to their pattern of behavior. For instance, a good friend of mine had the opportunity to go to the Cannes Film Festival years ago. He was at one of the event's bars talking with other documentary filmmakers about how if he could just find the money he would be able to finish his first film. Somebody must have overheard because that night he got a knock at his door. It was Harvey Weinstein's personal assistant with a check for $10,000 - no strings attached. Apparently Weinstein just liked the concept of my friend's film and wanted help get it made.

The one story I know of Jerry Seinfeld was when he was doing a comedy show in my town. His opening act was a local magician who did a pretty killer job and mixed in some good jokes with the magic, really got the crowd going. When Jerry took the stage, his first five minutes was just ragging on magicians, saying they're creepy, terrible people, just mean stuff. Around half the audience got up and left during this tirade, and a decent chunk continued to leave during the show which he ended early.
Through friends, we heard he went backstage and asked the magician what happened. The magician explained he had told his family he was opening for Jerry Seinfeld and they were so excited they bought a bunch of tickets and brought their friends and families too. Jerry yelled at the magician for not telling him how many people his opening act knew were there instead of giving any sort of apology or just acknowledging that ripping on your opening act is just a shit way to conduct yourself, especially when they do a great job and help your show nearly sell out.

One of the nicest people I ever met was the late great Jason David Frank, The original Green Power Ranger. He ran out of photos to sign so he gave me a mint in box original Dragonzord toy from the 90s and signed it for me for free. After the show he sat and ate with my friend and I for an hour talking about Martial Arts, Music, tales from the set, comic books, ect.
I had to close my shop for an hour when I heard the news because I was crying so much.
Rest in Power, Tommy! Once a Ranger, Always a ranger!

One of the nicest celebrities I ever met, was Danny Trejo. Just met him at a convention in January, with my husband and kids, and he was so sweet. When we were going into the photo op area, my daughter and I went in first. Danny cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted, "Here come the pretty ladies !" Later, when we were waiting to get his autograph, my daughter told my husband that she wanted a selfie with him. He had a big grin on his face, came around and posed with her. After that he told my husband, son and I to come join the selfies, which we did. He then grabbed a photo still of him from The Masked Singer, personalized it for my daughter, and gave it to her for free. The day before he gave actress Lana Parrilla a small red apple (she played the evil queen on Once Upon A Time). And when we were talking to her, my daughter was asking if she could have it. Lana turned to Danny to see if he was okay with her giving it to my daughter, and replied "Absolutely !"

I’ve only ever met one celeb: Bryan Cranston. He showed up to an all hands meeting for my school district as a surprise and a favor to his sister who’s in leadership there. There was no fanfare and I haven’t found a single article about it, he read a passage out of his book. Afterwards he signed stuff (none of us knew he was coming, so he just signed our programs) and took pictures. I got a regular picture and then took a selfie, and he said “you kids and your selfies” in an annoyed dad voice. From that interaction, I’d say he’s alright.

I've met him as well, and yeah he's super nice and very genuine. I met Brent Spiner at DragonCon one year and he was really cool too. We started talking about movies, TV, and albums, not a single Star Trek thing. Just a regular conversation that any two random geeks would have at the con, but one of them happened to be Commander Data.

Shaq’s Real life character arc is honestly was very nice to hear about. A guy who owned a small Italian restaurant in Boston told me about Lady Gaga. Apparently someone who worked for Gaga picked up an order for her and the team but didn't mention to the owner who it was for. Then like an hour later, Lady Gaga walks in, tells him she loved the food so much that she left her hotel just to come in and tell him personally how much she appreciated it. Then she gave every single employee a VIP ticket to her concert at the Garden. He showed me all kinds of pictures and everything. Legit true story

Say a customer works at a amusement park, a pancake store, or a gas station.
If they then start handing out free merchandise.. will we then start to worship them?
