- Gerry and Sewell are broke - Gerry's still at school and his best mate Sewell is unemployed. They both wish for better things in life. Owning two season tickets to their beloved Newcastle United is their biggest dream of all. The tickets cost £1,000, and they're £1,000 short, but they're nothing if not resourceful, and they set themselves a mission to raise the cash.

I understand how frustrating it can be when a film you like isn't available on any streaming platform. so I wanted to help other fans in the same boat
🍿you can now enjoy the movie with subtitles! Feel free to turn them on for an even better viewing experience. 📺
Thank you!
Fine for those who need them.. but if we don't.. i would like to turn them off .....
christ on a bike you got any subtitles i'm from London
@@johnstoneruth8809 then turn them off... ? did you know you could do that
I've only got two words to sum up this movie it's 'Purely Belter' 😂😂😂
I remember going downstairs one night at a young boy, and my father was still awake watching the TV. He let me sit with him despite the early hour and we watched this film together. It's one of my favourite memories with him and is the reason I'm a Newcastle fan. Love you Dad, even if I can't stand you sometimes.
I was only 16 when this come out I just left school started a labouring job at a factory I was walking home from work I had my blockbuster video card in my shirt pocket I hired this out to watch great memories this film has a special place in my heart and yeah I'm 40 now
I’m a Geordie Lass living in Australia & this made feel home again ❤
i Daniel Blake will too !
If you bump into my mate Kerry like , in New Zealand, say hello from Christian ❤
Found this film whilst looking through UA-cam, what an absolute gem of a film
Here September 2024 and loving this little unknown movie.
yeah same, i came across it randomly and watched it probably a good 6 or 7 times now
Ah, this is an absolute treasure. You've knocked other movie makers into the dust. Thank you for your gift, your craft and your loving hearts. I needed to remember tonight that there are intelligent and compassionate creators out there.
What a purely brilliant belter of a film. How has this masterpiece remained unknown to me for 24 years. So glad I just stumbled upon. Thanks you for posting.
Uncanny! I was just about to post pretty much the exact same comment. What a great British film! Purely belter indeed!

I'm from Argentina, 44 years old. Newcastle fan, my English club forever. Still remember Alan Shearer. I just watched the movie, really liked it, bloody british in every way, I guess. And so hard to get that northern accent, but lovely ! Geordies, right?
Come on Newcastle! Greetings, mates. Peace and love.

Missed this film until now, not even into football but well worth a watch so many emotions. Thanks for posting.
Luv these wee insights into the social and cultural lives of others. This is more than football, it's an incite and slice of life of another world, very good. If a documentary was made , in this case, on Newcastle, it couldn't be more revealing than this fictional movie. Luv learning about places , people and cultures through movies like this!
💯💯
An absolute classic! Purely Belter! Up the toon! Thank you for uploading!
I never thought id say it but I miss those days. Things only got worse for everyone .
And I thought those times had got really bad by 2000.
Little did I know.

@@irenemorley75 So unsustainable amounts of third world immigration and incompatible cultures dumped into our towns and cities is what we make it? if you say so.
What a gem of a movie. Truly time we'll spend - funny, sad, realistic and all together a great movie
Nearly 24 years ago i discovered this film by chance. i used to get randon videos from blockbuster and give them a go. this was one of those films that i remember so well. i bought the vhs copy soon after and kept it for years. me and my mates still say "purley belter" whenever someone makes us a cracking brew, 2 sugars, dead milky like. none of us even like football but we all love this film
Ah blockbusters I used to love that store
@rosiemaughan2996 the good old. Going to Blockies on a Friday night was so exciting
@@Lenny101 yes it really was. it's crazy the memories you brought back too me by mentioning that store
@rosiemaughan2996 im glad it made ypu happy.I wish we could still rent DVDs. I hate the way we rent films now
@@Lenny101 hey Lenny I didn't see this reply until now and I totally agree with you back then it was so much better and also I always feel like it felt more like a treat too rent a movie from blockbusters you would get your snacks and gather round a little telly with your family and it was a proper movie night now I feel like people just be streaming movies on there phone or whatever and not even hardly paying attention 😅
That was so good. A brilliant film with faultless performances. Thanks so much for posting.
Never heard of this till now, but really enjoyed it! Love social realism films

So many hilarious brilliant lines to quote! 🤣
What a brilliant film. How did this get lost in time ?
Watched this a lot as a kid. Fun 94 min film. They don't really make them these days. I saw a reunion video on UA-cam from a while back. Was good to see some of the cast back together.
Byker Grove was a classic national children's program during the 80s and 90s, some familiar faces here from it.
Bloody brilliant loved it. Thanks for posting
Lol got some amazing memories watching this with me dad and my dads now wife with my dads wifes two sons. Me and me dad when as Jerry called him 'Psycho Bollox' (class name that lol) 🤣🤣🤣🤣kicks that door me and me dad crying from laughing lol, then when he kicks the door that just finished us off haha (me dads certainly a Geordie, I wasn't born in the toon but was conceived well actually likely in Gateshead haha).
Oh and NUFC's practically in the family (just not literally but its yeah....), me very late Uncle Reg was great friends with Jackie as they worked at Ashington Colliery together, before Jackie played for The Toon (my dads got Jacks England badge, not sure why he has it, is a story to it though).
Agradezco a UA-cam que me haya aparecido esta película tan buena 🍿⚽ Gracias por compartirla!
