Always wanted to play "Bass" and never pulled the trigger... I am 37 and I just orded my starter pack and you know what... I can't wait better late then never.
I'm 48 and I will get it. This past Christmas I took on the flute as I received it as a Xmas gift. I have practiced about 60 days consecutively and I can see the progress. I've been a guitar player for many years, but I had put aside learning other instruments until this past Xmas. Good luck on that. Tell us about the sound quality.
Picked up my first bass in 2004. I’ve played more shows than i can remember since then. I can say from experience that this bass is most definitely gig worthy.
@@epeli4585 I have the same bass, and after minor adjustments it plays great. If I was new to playing bass, I would definitely start with this kit. One thing though, if you decide with Affinity, you should take it to someone who is comfortable around wireing and electronics, because that J pickup can be really noisy. No worries, a good shielding solves this minor problem. I played a few basses during the years but everytime I end up with Fender. And a Squier is damn close to it. Good luck and keep playing :)
There were no adjustments needed at all when I bought it. Beware though, the cable it came with gave out after about a month. Get a better one. Everything else is great though. It still functions like new. If you’re a beginner I highly recommend this kit.
The starter pack is always good for beginners, I got started playing an Squier Affinity P Bass and that became my workhorse. I really loved that bass with all my heart, ofcourse that's the first bass I started playing with years ago. I do recommend young beginning bass players to get a starter pack, it has everything a beginner bassist should have.
A 5 yr old with this kind of grammar, past tense , apostrophes and double L on actually? Very unlikely, then cracks an unlikely joke about strap on. Must be a perverted genius.
This is a perfect bass pack for a beginner, I got this bass pack around 7 months ago and it was a great choice. I must say, the instrument cable that came with the bass broke within the first month or so and the strap that came with it was pretty bad (it would slip off the bass at random, once I got a new strap I haven't had this problem since). But the amp and bass work like a charm and I love playing it.
@@World.21 Nope, it was perfect right out of the box ^^ the only "problem" I have with the amp is that even at minimun level its a lil bit too loud but sounds amaaaaazing
In lockdown in Spain...Might have a couple of months spare time on my hands and that bass the nuts...Just got to convince my Wife I need another toy...Thanks for the demo....
I was going to buy this pack until I found this exact bass on craigslist barely used that came with a barely used rumble 40 ($200 dollars on its own) and a gig bag all for $200 total.
I wish he told us about the action of the bass. Are the frets in perfect height for playing. How about the sound? Does it sound good when recording? That's what I plan to use it for. Sometimes I wonder, Is the technology been used today for this affordable bass, better than the one used in 1960 or 1970s and if so, why wouldn't this Fender Squier bass sound better than the professional bass line? I would think pickups today are better than the ones made 40-50 years ago. People must have some sort of psychological preference based on brand popularity and taste.
Affinity series are one of the lowest series so I wouldn't expect much. Besides, it's a starter pack. If you don't know anything about a bass, maybe you won't be "that" interested in the things you proposed. You just want to play. Now, if you have some experience with bass, you wouldn't choose an Affinity, for sure.
I just bought this exact bass used for $100. When I got it home I straightened the neck (had slight bow). lowered the action (strings were higher than I like), lowered the pickup height (too close to strings), and adjusted intonation. For a cheap bass I'm satisfied. I'm going to put flatwounds on it to get a more vintage sound. Observations: 1. E string is not centered between the neck pickup's 2 magnets for that string. (Video shows this at 2:06.) When you thump with your thumb the E string hits one magnet with a metallic pop noise. Ouch. I had to lower the neck pickups substantially to get them far enough away from the strings so this doesn't happen. I don't know the spec for correct pickup height. I do know if pickup is too close to strings it interferes with sustain; too far and you reduce volume and tone quality. 2. Output jack is attached...how? Doesn't have the usual screw plate. Don't know how to detach if needed. 3. I have a real American Fender Jazz Deluxe V bass I bought in 2001 paid $1050. The PJ Squier does not match the real Fender jazz tone. Close but you can hear a difference.
That is a tobacco sunburst finish. It sometimes contrast with the black pickguard, if the finish is made with quality. Think of Stevie Ray Vaughan and his No.1 Strat.
I got this bass for christmas 1 year ago had high action though I could fix that on my own (for the most part) even as a noob it was a pretty good beginning instrument
First got one of these around 2 years ago but it just doesn’t sound like the way a bass should. I’ve tried fixing it several times but still not satisfied with the outcome. Please tell me where I went wrong 🙏 😭
I'm thinking about getting my first Bass next month but I can't decide between the Yamaha TRBX174EW or this pack, I always loved Fender's Basses but I also like Yamaha's Tobacco Brown Burst color.

I don't get the knobs ..... I have 3 knobs, 1 P, 1 J and 1 Master Volume, but: Master Volume means to me, when I turn it down= no more sound. I my case; turn it down, but still have sound .... why ?!
Because the 3rd knob is not master volume... its a tone (Bass & Treble) control. So the knobs on this bass are 1 P pickup Volume, 1 J Pickup Volume & 1 Tone control.
An inexpensive entry level P-Jazz bass (!) complete with an amp, a lead and a strap is a TERRIFIC deal! THIS is how you demo something for total beginners. If you're a beginner DO NOT buy a five string bass. It's just more to learn. Start with a four string. Also, my advice to you, is to get an actual bass teacher. I'm learning from a professional bassist that traveled around the world in different bands.
