    As requested by the poster of this vid, I am here to identify the song playing in the background of the season 2 episode "On the Wings f Love" that plays during the scene in which Cole meets Shelly for the first time. It is called "Wedding Song # 1" and was composed by Angelo Badalamenti. It was only ever released on the amazing Twin Peaks Archive soundtrack (over 200 tracks that had been composed for the series and Fire Walk With Me that had not been previously released on the other official soundtracks. It included a ton of screen used incidental & background music, as well as demo versions, alternate and extended mixes, etc. It was only available through David Lynch's official website at that time... and that site sadly no longer exists. As far as I can tell, the Twin Peaks Archive does not appear to be commercially available anywhere anymore. *sad trombone*

    For me the Bob-Leland relationship and history is a metaphor of a kid abused by his neighbor who then became an abuser himself.

    Ever since Twin Peaks first aired here in Belgium in the spring of 1991, I’ve been fond of it. I think I’ve watched the first and second season in their entirety about five times, but I’ve only watched season 3 once so far, and the same goes for “Fire, Walk With Me”, which I haven’t seen probably since around the time it got its first dvd release. Earlier this year I finally got around to reading “The Secret History” and “The Final Dossier”, and now your excellent ranking video has inspired me to rewatch everything to get the complete experience. So thanks for this elaborate and thoughtful review.

    the phillip jefferie's moment in FWWM was really two much more coherent scenes edited together, both are on The Missing Pieces. phillip talks about a meeting he witnessed of the lodge entities, which is the moment we see in real time. a theory I like for why they're edited together this way is to show phillip's disconnection with our world's time and space/how hard it is for him to convey what he wants to

    Lara Flynn Boyle was Kyle Maclachlans gf at the time and she was extremely jealous of Sherilyn Fenn, so yeah you could say the actresses didn’t get along. Apparently she was angry at the romantic tension between Coop and Audrey and Kyle refused to have his character kiss Audrey because Lara forbade it.

    • @JohnDoe-xf8ew
      @JohnDoe-xf8ew 14 днів тому +2

      The bts reasoning is stupid, but I am personally glad that Coop and Audrey never got together. Not only would it feel weird for a usually conscientious FBI agent to have a legitimate romantic connection with a high schooler (possibly 18, but still a high schooler nonetheless).

    • @burntbybrighteyes
      @burntbybrighteyes 14 днів тому +1

      @@JohnDoe-xf8ew They had the same issue going on as in the show Community where they didn't foresee the on screen chemistry that the characters would have and therefore didn't plan for it. Both in Twin peaks and community the female character didn't need to be so young as their respective actresses where actually older anyway. Sherilyn Fenn was 24 or 25 and Kyle was 31. What's even more silly is that Heather Graham was 5 years younger than Fenn and they then paired her with Coop. They simply didn't address her age.

    There are probably many explanations about Coop's floating face in S3E17 circulating around the internet, but at the time I watched it in 2017 it worried me quite a bit. I thought: something here is not good. Maybe it's because the exchange 'good Coop to planet earth / bad Coop to the Black Lodge' did not go as planned. As if something essential of his personality was missing. I laughed my [censored] off when Coop thumbed up and said: "I AM the FBI" but I doubted whether the Dale Cooper of seasons 1 & 2 could have said something like that. So I thought that the real complete Cooper wasn't really present and was watching all the occuring events with a certain concern or even fear.
    Later on, I figured that the floating face might suggest that Cooper was The Dreamer of Twin Peaks. And that he dreamt the entire story. S1, S2. FWWM, Missing Pieces, S3, you name it.
    But these are all wild suggestions, I admit.

    Unpopular opinion: I don’t think Season 2 is that bad. I will admit it does feel a lot less focused than the first fifteen and the main plot with Windom Earle isn’t particularly great, mostly just because that character feels rather inconsistent, there’s a good character there, but his whole chess deal feels more like a Batman villain than Twin Peaks. That being said, I still love being in the world and the characters and the fact that Season 2 has more David Lynch as Gordon Cole, who is my favourite character of the show. Also, I as well love Benjamin’s Civil War plot, if only because I’m a West Side Story geek, so having Richard Beymer and Russ Tamblyn on screen just makes me squee.
    Oh, and let’s not forget Denise Bryson.
    Also unpopular opinion: I don’t like Season 3 as much as the first two.

    I definitely disagree with your take on Sarah Palmer in Part 8 of The Return. I believe the show was trying to imply that Sarah was sexually assaulted that night. This is set up by the awkward kiss between Sarah and her boyfriend before she enters her house, and then the frogmoth coming in through her window and entering her mouth can be interpreted as the boyfriend coming in through her window and putting something else in her mouth. The way the bug enters her mouth seems purposely evocative of this. To me, Judy represents generational trauma. Sarah being possessed by Judy here is why she “allows” (obviously it’s unclear how much she knew but it seems clear in FWWM she had some idea) Bob/Leland to do what he does to Laura. The moth entering through the window is also how Bob enters Laura’s room. Sarah is passing generational trauma (Judy) to Laura in the form of Bob, Judy’s own creation.
    Just wanted to get my thoughts about this out. It was a very enjoyable video and I loved hearing your takes on stuff like this.
