I personally hate the fact they decided to start this military operation, that's really unfortunate, they say there was no other choice, ukr nazi troops killed around 14000 civilians for 8 yrs in Donbas and they refuse to stop attacking these republics. I can sympathize with the emotion Stone has when he talks about this story. The average smart person is fed so much bullshit about this on so many levels that even as you're explaining sensible normal verifiable things to people, you can see in their eyes they don't believe you because of how much they're told otherwise, and even though you know you're telling truth, and you want them to see, you know they can't allow themselves to accept that a gang of neo-Nazi's helped overthrow the Ukrainian government for a bunch of desperate people try to forge an identity in the aftermath of the Soviet collapse and convinced them to revere a Nazi collaborator as their new Founding Father (because that's the best they could come up with) inherently justifying endless (self-inflicted at times) carnage in their country in hopes of forging a dignified, independent state where people can 'just live.' The inevitable end of this dream is resulting in destruction of economies, cities, lives, and bodies. My sympathies to Mr Stone and the great effort he's put in throughout his entire career to cover tough stories with an open mind.

This is bullshit. By Your statement You just emphasize that Russia during this whole time did not help/assist/direct/motivate DNR, LNR and Crimea to be "autonomous/independent (while still being pair Ukrainian pensions though)". This is so categorically wrong that I just can't believe how Kremlin propaganda talking points are working and taking effect. Everything is to sow seeds of doubt and confuse western - and even their own - populations so they wouldn't trust their government or just be super apathetic about it. Of course it is likely that Ukraine had talks with EU, US and Russia beforehand, but to say that Russia is innocent is just wrong. The Maidan started because the former president all of a sudden decided to lean towards Russia and away from EU - the locals didn't like it. As a president You shouldn't refuse to do the bidding or the will of the people when it has been decided. The Maidan was just a next level of Orange Revolution
Also stop with this NEO-NAZI crap. Every former occupier USSR country has had their renewed aspirations for self-identity. Look at East-Germany, Poland - heck, even Russia has a bunch of clowns trying to push their "russian identity" forward - there are even a bunch of people who have swastikas tattooed (numerically much more than so called neo-nazis in Ukraine). That is happening everywhere, because for the last 50-70 years during occupation they were suppressed - especially though language and culture. A lot of Russians were imported, where locals were deported, but that is another fact. So to claim that every "conservative" and towards right leaning person is a neo-nazi is just a crap story. This same could be said to the Russian Federation who is now trying to cleanse Ukraine of this foul "stench". That makes only them look like the "nazis" - or should we say "communist fascists" who try to yet again suppress and find some new identity to tie people together.
So please, before trying to sympathize with someone who is actively trying to distort the reality.. just remember that this is exactly how Kremlin propaganda works. And.. by your standards perhaps the average smart person ain't that smart. The truth isn't black and white - it is grey. In the end You have to choose one of the (and this is up to You how You want to put it) "lesser evils".. or "truths".. or "religion".. or "guiding light" - up to you.
I only can recommend Vlad Vexler "The Postmodern Hell Of Russian Propaganda" on UA-cam (18 min) and a finnish lecture on the UA-cam channel fin_topsu "Evaluation of Russia by Finnish Intelligence Colonel (subtitles) | December 3, 2018"

Based only on Oliver Stones opinion and interviews with Putin? Mind you, Stone is making Putin look good by the way and kind of questions he asks. However you look at it, Putin is a tyrant and responsible for many, many murders inside Russia and he was/is a mass murderer in Afghanistan, Syria, Georgia, Ukraine, ..... He is known for explicitely targeting civillians instead of military. He is known for intentionally ignoring the Geneva Convention Rules of War. His own soldiers (young drafted) are forced to do terrible thing, by threatening the soldiers themselves, but also their families.
I've long given Putin the benefit of the doubt, because he has some points. But especially after what he did in Syria (bombing the shit out of civillians with the most terrible bombs he could find and even use chemical weapons against civillians, I've come to the conclusion that he's nothing more than a mass murdering dictator and war monger. Not a hair better than Adolf Hitler. There's no salvation for waging war and murdering people who disagree with you.
Maybe you better find some more information on him, from other people, instead of the easy way of making Stone's opinion yours.

Thanks for posting the other side. Both views are needed - in order for any diplomacy to work - but with aggression and boots on the ground, diplomacy was tossed out the window. I will probably watch the Putin interviews, but as of now, I believe any incursion in any homeland should not be allowed, and the residents and people have a right to defend themselves. Unfortunately, since there is so much spin on both sides, and corruption on both sides, the narrative that stands is the people of Ukraine fighting for their land - which I believe is their God given right. Stone would be ideal to help coordinate any diplomacy if there was a path to this since he has spent time with Putin and clearly understands his side, but as of now Ukrainians have been forced from their homes and will fight for their land. If someone invaded Russia, I would expect no less of Russians fighting to the death for their homes, and technically speaking they are close kin - between Ukraine and Russia. War is now ideological and the winning of minds - but there is so much propaganda there that can cover the earth over

@@PapaVorPutin I am a realist. I don't like Putin. The guy is a dictator who has managed to stay in power longer than he should have. However, if you follow great power politics you have to see that the U.S and NATO are the ones who started it. This is akin to the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Why can't people see this? The U.S didn't want soldiers and missiles so close to its border. The Russians almost started WWIII. WHY? Because the U.S told them that those missiles were an EXISTENTIAL THREAT to the safety of the U.S.
Putin has been saying the same thing since 2004 when Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. joined NATO. Why can't the U.S and NATO respect that? In 2008 NATO said that Georgia and Ukraine would join NATO. Putin repeated his stance of NATO expansion east. Then he proceeded to invade Georgia and annex it to Russia. In 2009, Albania and Croatia gained membership and Putin didn't attack. And neither did he attack when Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary join NATO in 1999. NATO has swallowed 12 former USSR countries and Putin didn't attack anyone. is that how a crazed, hell-bent man On expansion acts? I don't think so. But it shows who is the actual one hell-bent on expansion don't you think? In 2014 NATO went one step further by again reiterating that Ukraine would join NATO. Sevastopol which is located in Crimea is the home of the Russian NAVY. It's the only warm water port along Russia's entire coastline that is not frozen for half a year. This is a strategic position for Russia. The CIA and Victoria Nuland planned and sponsored the coup in Ukraine of the duly elected president Yanukovych and installed a pro-west prime minister. don't believe me about the coup goggle it. A whistleblower released a conversation between Victoria Nuland and the Ambassador of Ukraine planning how to take out Yanukovych. This was an act of war in Putin's eyes. This forced Putin to attack and annex Crimea to protect his NAVY base. Again this should not have been a surprise to anyone who studies international politics. he is been steadily saying Ukraine is his line in the sand. So who started it? If you know this since 2004 about Putin then we should Respect Russia's request and not allowed Ukraine into NATO.
BUT NO, the bully has to continue to push everyone in the playground. As a realist, I have to call a spade a spade on this. As an ideolog, which many people are, they can't see or take seriously Russia's concerns about an existential threat. Actions speak louder than words. Reagan said, “ speak softly and carry a big stick “. Again referring to actions when dealing with other countries. Russia has spoken for far too long, softly and no one listened. Now everyone is up in a teasy because he pull the stick out. Facts don't care about your feelings. And this are the facts, we pushed him to attack.
