The "pure happiness". That's what differentiated it from other fantastic quicksteps of the past. The sheer joy they both exuded. They looked like they were partying in a speakeasy club of the 1920s, without a care in the world. Evocative & beautiful!

Score - *10/10* This is sensational, all the chasses and promanades were so speedy and then all the hopscotchs!!! Ugh so beautiful. It was very 1920's and classy! It screamed sophistication and style, it was a proper Quickstep done with all the control, ease and glamour in the world. She makes it look so easy, all the lines and footwork is so detailed and on the edge and they held it together, it was fantastic. Beautiful posture and travel across the floor. She was one golly good girl at the Quickstep here. Definitely her thing here and I think this is one of the best Quicksteps the show has ever seen. It was incredibly close in body contact which is not easy to keep with the speed here. Bravo AJ & Kai 👏
Score: *10!!* Oh AJ!!! That is how you redeem yourself! Loved the routine from the solid ballroom hold while in travel to the pivot hops! Kai literally threw everything AND the kitchen sink at here and I AM HERE FOR IT!! The illusion of gliding around that dancefloor like bees was there and the Old Hollywood theme was there from beginning to end. LOVED IT!! LOVED IT!! LOVED IT!!
Loved the dress! Beautiful! Ben Barnes Ritchie would be great dancing to this. Instead he was put on the George Goodman list with Emma Martin from Dr Foster and Shaun Bean. I thought her stand in, Carol King did a great job on Vigil and finding the lost from Showtrial with Wilson, Scott Seal and Thompson Matthew, Annette Lloyd and Coleman. loved this look combining cornrow and braids with a beautiful retro ballroom dress and showing that natural afro hair can be classy and stylish on prime time TV. Ground breaking for all those young girls and women who were made to feel their natural hair was never enough.
I absolutely adored this whole routine, but these three moments stood out as my favourites: 0:42-0:46 The height on those jumps! 1:02-1:06 The camera angle makes this look even more dynamic. 1:29-1:36 The sheer joy on their faces is such a delight!
I usually have major issues with the camera work on Strictly, when they don't show footwork or switch cameras at crucial moments in a dance...but you are totally right that 1:02 was a smashing angle!
This made me cry.. I know that's silly but it was absolute perfection..from the song..the vintage dress style and tails fie Kai and if course the dancing a good old fashioned quickstep..it reminded me of my mom and dad who used to go toba clubb9n a Saturday with my eldest sister .as 8 babysit their children and they lived this kind of dancing..we all know Rose us going to win but I honestly wish it was AJ and Kai
@Kimmarie It’s not silly. My mother passed away almost 16 years ago and everytime i watch this, it makes me emotional because she would have been thrilled by this dance. The song reminds me of the music and era my mother loved.. Aj and Kai in this dance just transport you back in time. It’s magical.
@@dorispotter1435 oh Doris thank you for your reply..it's the music I grew up with too.. my parents met on a blind date in November 43.. my dad was stationed near where mom lived and they were doing training..at the time they didn't know what for.. my lovely dad was American. .my mom Welsh..so I'm a bit of a mongrel😆.. well it must have been love at first sight as 3 months later they were married..that was feb 44 and after 2 days furlough dad was back to the training..only a few months later my dad landed on Omaha beach on the DDay landings!.. so of course I grew up listening to swing music which i too adore..nothing like it.. add their love of dancing and the time of yr it just got to me..but I thank you for your reply..its all good memories so i should have smiled instead..🇬🇧💞✝️🙏👍
What a gorgeous quickstep! My fave of the series. Beautifully danced but also I felt like I was transported to a fun party in the 20's (the much more fun 1920's!)
I seriously couldnt stop smiling all the way through this. It was effortless and didnt look choreographed. It just looked like 2 people dancing and having a good time. I have seen Kai dance before and he always gives it his all but with AJ he just totally lets go if that makes sense. They definately deserved that 40.
Yes! Yes! That’s why it took her so long to get that 40 because they keep thinking she is a professional but she never dance before she is learning like everyone else.
Sublime !! The Swing era captured perfectly. AJ & Kai were stunning. The costumes were a feast for the eyes and the band were smokin on that Benny Goodman classic.Two and a half minutes of perfection.

Yes, for me this was the dance of the evening, with Rose's AT marginally behind. Rhys/Nancy and John/Johannes were both lagging way behind, imo.
