'Identify the country by the crowd's swearing' could be a great geoguessr category
Twitch streamers learning the subtle regional differences of the word "kurwa" is something I would watch.
Easily can spot Poles :P
And Actually Rally of Poland is very hard :P
The spectators was a big part of why Group B was cancelled. The accident in Portugal was the final nail in the coffin since it had become completely insane with speed and crowd control (or the lack of rather..). On many occasions they found fingers stuck in the body work since people wanted to touch the cars as they passed by. The drivers also complained about the stress that was completely off the charts.
indeed ... we all remember Portugal . It made clear why you should not stand on the outside of a corner
There is still a video of the tragedy in Portugal, 4death and 31 injured at minute 2:03 (ATTENTION GRAPHICS FOR MORE SENSITIVE PEOPLE). ua-cam.com/video/GeRy7JVf2Ow/v-deo.html
What ?! Fingers ?! really ?!
@@juliusperseus8612 when a metal object with sharp edges sticking out is coming at you at 200kph and you stick your hand out to touch it you're lucky to only loose a finger or two. Yeah it did happen on multiple occasions but considering how the crowd behaved it was surprisingly rare.
The "tail fin" is called a "wing" and is just like an aircraft's wing, but upside down. The faster the car is going, the more downforce it creates on the rear wheels. This allows the car to turn at higher speeds without losing traction. This is particularly important in a rear wheel drive car. EDIT: The weird mods you see in the front do the same thing but for the front wheels, which need traction for steering.
We Europeans 🇪🇺 love our Rally!!!!
6:23 oooooh Dio Cane, vai vai vai! Italian Style hahahahahahha!!!
0:57 oh wow, that was perfect! 👌
Rally drivers are a special breed, and so are rally fans. I don't see an F1 car getting stuck on a gravel trap and all of a sudden twenty guys jump in to push it back on the track lol
Correct on the rear wing thing. The purpose is to direct air that's pouring over the car in a manner that pushes the car to the ground. This is called downforce, it increases the stability and traction, in this case of rear wheels, with a turnout of decreasing top speed. (More air resistance.)
Almost all of these cars, especially the newer ones, are 4 wheel drive with crazy amounts of horsepower. Crowd interaction is common in these races and spectator injuries are considered a 'Badge of Honour' especially from the 1980's races. Your little interruption at the start about 'if that car lost control it would hit the crowd' has actually happened! That is one of the reasons they got rid of the insane 'Group B' rally cars of the mid 1980's. 500 horsepower monsters with 0 to 60 times of between 2 and 3 seconds on ANY road surface!
""When in doubt, go flat out" - Colin McRae
Love watching Americans (land of the free) watch rally and TT videos and say this is dangerous and should be stopped! 😂 not you.. but lots do 😏 chill out guys the spectators are professionals!
Is it really "land of the free"?
@@NkosanaMakhubele You are "free" to be enslaved by the government.
0:35 That's the official photographer, he's wearing a vest. They are allowed to go anywhere they see fit.
02:16 best moment "inside the . . . "🥰😉
dont worry about those people at 1:27, they are a lot safer than most of the other spectators in this video.. they have trees to protect them.. when a rally car vs a tree.. tree usually always wins.
Of course they win. It's tree against one.
=D
Seems like the craziest of the spectator clips are from the notorious/infamous Group B-rallies during the seventies and eighties. Back then there was a challenge among the spectators to touch the cars when they passed doing 180-200 km/t (120 mp/h). Find some of the group B-videos on UA-cam, there's loads, - that's when Rallying was at the most insane and exhilarating. It was the time of the Audi Quattro, the Peugeot 205, the Lancias, and so on. Crazy, crazy times - it is almost impossible to imagine this happened not more than 30-40 years ago.
according to UA-cam, who spends hours and hours to create a compilation --> no monetization
Who watch the video and react ---> monetized!
PS: At least tag Mr.M
There was an occasion a few years back, when rally cars were very powerful and one ploughed into the spectators who were right in the road (Portugal) The driver had no chance. Many driver refused to race afterwards and the race was stopped.
1:30 that's why people stand by those trees 🤕3:56 Total FUNNY 😁😄😃
Placing a set of wheels in the inside "ditch" in a turn is called "railing". It helps doing the turn without losing speed.
The accident around 02:00 ... I'm not french nor french speaker, but I think he mentioned two times something about a "barrier"?
(Please any francophone friend to help?)
Yes, a lot of these video are made in France, there is lot of Spain and Belgium to.
That was proly Monte Carlo, not Spain....Monte Carlo rally takes plac in the mid January and it can have snow and ice
i went to a track and watched a few stages of the world rally championship years ago so it was the best of the best racing and wow it was crazy how fast they go and close they get to you, i was covered in dirt by the time it was over lol. despite the small engines they are tuned up to the max and are ridiculously powerful and the drivers are so skilled its just insane.
What I find awesome is sometimes they sound like TieFighters. 😂🤣😂🤣 In the early days of rallying there used to be spectator fatalities quite frequently. Not so much now though. It is a great sport to watch. 👍🏻👍🏻
I watched a video on here today, a car chase in the USA. Police V Hellcat 700hp. It was pulling away from the helicopters which were topped out at 120mph. They were trying to follow him on the freeway. 😂🤣😂 It was awesome.
I just looked this up out of curiosity: apparently the Tie Fighter sound is a mix of recordings of elephants and cars driving through puddles of water.
A lot of the footage is older, hence the close crowds. More and more zoning strict applies. People get injured or die when breaking the rules, but nowadays the policy is to imprison organizers for even letting people break the rules. And it's a good thing, rallye is a great sport regardless of managed safety.
At 6:23 / 24 you can DEFINITIVELY hear that was an Italian race 🤣😂🤣😂 Our famous bl4sph3my words are strong there
Rally fans are the most interactive (get cars back on their wheels) of any sport, also some of the craziest (being close enough to the cars, almost to touch them). ;-)
The giraffe!!! 🤣
7:12
was on my towns rally 3 weeks ago . common shiet kinda was in the middle of the forest. raining ofc
05:40 was not "guys" but women rally driver and she get medals of year Michèle Hélène Raymonde Mouton . in grupu B AUDI .
haven't watched rallying for maybe 35 years, it was crazy then but the cars now are absolute beasts, donno why I am surprised by that as if cars are not going to improve in 35 years
Oh yeah everyone talks about group B but modern WRC cars are equally as powerful if not more, and with better suspensions and safety. In the end we could make them 1000 horsepower but it's all about the regulations.
Yes it does snow in Spain. Not only in the mountains
1:31 - yep, in rally on one fucks around, not even the spectators. If someone dies, we all die!
They're drifting mid-air.
You corrected yourself on saying cockpit, but most drivers this term because of all the technology
2:49 it's rallye Mote-Carlo. The Spanish flag was there, because there were spectators from Spain.
I LOVE how this guy said the "Tail Fin"......... Bless his heart.
05:52 Thats some Initial D vibes there
I've said this before but imagine having one of these cars & one of these drivers as your getaway for a bank robbery
Thats quite the plot of "Ronin"
@@Meckermaxxe I will have to check it out
To do the job right, you'd want the co driver as well.
Lancia 037, Fiat 231👍🔥😍🤩
This is nothing comparatively to the Group B era madness.
People in Argentina would play Matador with the cars at full speed, crazy shit.
That’s crazy!! When the car passed at rally Monte Carlo and the Spanish flags appeared I knew you where gonna ask if it snows in spain….. asked myself the same thing 🤣🤣
you know why no US made car will win a WRC rally?
they dont have a pickup truck class!
Punto Camper... a bad word in Spanish! That one killed me! 😀😀
You should watch Group B Rally Racing. The hardest and hottest time in Rally Racing.
The car with the fin I believe is a B Group that was banned in the 80s. It was a monster group and there were some fatal accidents. Most footage is old. Nowadays the rules for the public are more restrict.
It is referred as the cockpit
5.25 your state says it all. Wtf people
6:22 "Dio cane oh, vai vai vai"🤣
Estonian and Finnish rallies are the fastest gravel rallies. They drive very fast speed on very narrow forest roads also lots of jumps.
Spectators can be a bit like lemmings lol
I watched a documentary about this and the onboard camera recorded everything being said but I can't remember anything about mind the fluffin giraffe.😂😂😂.
Those two scenes one with giraffes and the other very dusty is characteristic of Safari Rally in my country Kenya
3:00 Col des Festreaux
Its in France, not Spain..the spanish flags are just spectators.
But yes it does snow in Spain mainly in the Pyrenees.
rally in the old day was too dangerous cause public place themselves everywhere, including middle of the road as you could see. Nowadays there some limitations in the zone public can be placed. They can not be on the outside of curves (physics says that´s the place a car would end if driver lose control ), or in the S curves, near the road, and of course they are not allowed to be on the road anymore. At least in WRC official races. In argentina we love rally and we had a difficult years with this cause public did not complained the rules easy, but authorities were so strict with it, cancelling stages after stages due to bad public placing, but after a couples of years public started to understand that if they did not complained the will cancel the stage (in rally public sometimes are waiting in the roads for 1 and sometimes 2 days before the actual race) So, little by little, all these madness changed for good.
DAN ITS OVER
0:34 is the reason that the camera guys bring extra underwear and pants.
POV is also my favourite category..wink wink
Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe after Switzerland.
The tail fin car, that was a Lancia 037, arguably the most beautiful rally car ever made.
just gorgeous
Have you ever seen onboard footage from a formula 1 car?
I also recommend Goodwood Festival of Speed highlights.
I should have said that Goodwood 2023 is next week but the 2022 highlights were really cool (if you want to get an idea what it is).
Needs more Ford Escort like the one that hurt your ears
The tail fin is not to help them fly, is it?
The videos where the crowds of people are on the road are quite old. You can distinguish them by the video quality. It is different now. Back then there were none or minor safety rules. Today it seems unbelievable... No legal event would take place in such conditions.
Soothing, was it? Wasn't there a nail biting moment there, if we're being honest? You have come a long way since you started to watch rally clips. Then your general conception was, that nobody could survive to the finish line. Here's one clip with hairy moments: "Crazy Finns Crashing - with pure crashing sounds".
what if a champion wc driver did nascar for a season
I really think that these guys are the best drivers, like Formula 1 and Indy races are so controlled and kind of artificial...
these people are nuts
cockpit. Correct. It is a cockpit.
oh yes, spectators do die during a rally now and then, it's just how it is....
Rally and drifting, there realy isnt anything like it
Have you done a reaction to group B rallies that was truly insane
Of course you could die, that was part of the fun. Todays Rally is boring, to the point that every 'once a year' mountain race has much more spectators.
9:10 Polish team.
Risk to the spectators. 😮
2:21 SOS INDEED
In some cases being hit by a rally car is a pleasure, it goes down in the history of the person hit. It's the same as being picked on by a bull at Pamplona's festivities.
Because it doesn't happen to everyone, except to a few brave ones.
Ah yes. Causing life long trauma for the driver, the crowd, and your family all because you wanted to play chicken with a 5000+ pound bullet. How fucking BRAVE.
you spelled stupid wrong.
Bro has asmongold voice
There are so many videos out there than these.
Puta is the bad word but only when used with madre or similar
Do the Americans hold rallies ? , or is it just Nas-Car Races ? Or would the Americans get lost in a Rally ?
Perfect mix of man and machine!
name a few of the cars
Free healthcare we have here hha .
This is Motorsport, and not this nascar bullshit
Rally is by far the most skilful and entertaining motor sport going. F1 is just a snooze fest
Rally spectators are dumb if they get hit it's their fault
1:28 What you need to realize is you live in the country famous for everyone trying to blame everyone else for being responsible, right.
USA is the land of damage claims and all that garbage. We don't have that here.
Everyone knows the driver is just trying to race... So if you go as a spectator to see rally plus on top of that you stand right beside the road because you wanna shoot a cool shot. That's all ok, but you've accepted you might die. And that's also okay.
this are no the fastest scenes. watch wrc.
you stop and talk way to much.
Do video on South African MTBS war cries. 4 schools in cape town war cries for sport.
nice vid.
red and white tape ☠"NOT ALLOWED TO STAND HERE"☠ You see them all over the track, but some dumb people think they know it better and end up💀.
This is an old video, safety is a lot better now. In the 90" people just didn't care until there where some huge accidents with dead. Most happen in a no standing zone.
Now there is a lot more safety controle.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_B
Watch old groub b Rally vids. Then you know what crazy Rally driving Looks like
Yes the " tail fin" ( nice way to call that part😂) provides grip by taking air pushing on itself and stick the car down, increasing the traction of the wheels
Don't mislead people. A wing creates a pressure difference, with the area under the rear wing having lower pressure, which the exces pressure generated above it is rushing to compensate, creating downforce.
@@installshieldwizard3017 yeah im not engineer, i try to explain quickly and not writing "a book for it, its easy to understand though, the efficiency of aero parts is expressed in "kilo d'appui" (im french so metric system) means "down force in kilograms" ,so increase the weight charging the wheels impeaching to spin/ drift, making more grip...
Anyway
@@crousk66 Ignore people like that. "Dont mislead people" then proceeds to simply repeat EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID but with fancier words.
Crazy as it may seem. Crowds being so close o the road...they know...oh, they know. The adrenaline you feel, from cars going past you at 160 kmh, only meters away. It's amazing
4:15 Without the "n" yes, it would be a bad word, otherwise translates as "point".
We have a lot of snow in many areas of Spain. Sierra Nevada near Granada already has snow.
The guy with the bicycle only went out for a bottle of milk
