Only gentle giant can do this, imagine how you start with reggae esque and then passing to a latin jazz for a short moment, that's pure genius. Thank you gentle giant 🙏🏻, for making my good days even better ones.
can't believe it's 50 years since i saw you (GG) in Stuttgart....you left a lasting musical impression on me....and yes...i should listen to you more often......now that we're all online....Haa.....i still play guitar as well----and i do like your Tele and that Gold top you've still got i hope....
Flashback to '76 when I was a nocturnal AM programmer at WAKN in Aiken, SC and the newly released 'Interview' LP arrived. I dropped the needle and cranked it up on the studio JBLs. Thanks for the memories.
Me too at 106.7 FM STEREO PANAMÁ. Thanks that the radio station was family owned and we had liberty to play whatever we liked, we introduced Gentle Giant s músic to the listener. "Octopus" and later on, "Civilian" were often played!
I remember going to my friend Rob Adam's house(looked like a record store) and he told me to pick out an lp and I found GG and after he played it I was hooked, sad you all did not get much radio play in the USA. RIP Rob Adams you are missed
Nossa, que qualidade top esse vídeo!! Parece que o camera man entrou ali num túnel do tempo, gravou e voltou! Rsrs; Gentle Giant love forever ❤️ #RIPRay
Brilliance from GG. Many thanks for your outstanding remixes Steven!! Preserving the genius from this incredible band is so very much appreciated! Thank you and Merry Christmas!!
The imagery is just genius - it´s an ironic song about tax evation (of big rock groups of the time) by moving to tropical tax havens as far as I know. You can hear the fake hawaian slide-guitar before the refrain. The fake kalimba-pling with the keyboards and the ominous sounding xylophone-guitar part in the middle conveys a feeling of jungle, danger and crime. Yes, and of course it´s a reggae. GG were very inventive in evoking pictures in your head with their music.
I literally forgot about this awesome song. I must’ve listened to it s thousand times back when it first came out! How is Ray’s Bass so ripped up looking back then? Thank you for these awesome videos!!! You have a bunch of New Yorkers living in North Carolina reliving some great times this Christmas season!!! Hate Ray’s gone!!! 🇺🇸
A banda mais diferenciada de todos os tempos. Pena que lançaram poucos álbuns. Meus preferidos são: in a glass house e Power in the glory só deixaram a desejar os três últimos.
Rip RAY SHULMAN
Superb footage, but it doesn't match the album version, like all the footage you've released for the new 2023 mix. I'd much prefer videos like the Design one, and footage like this one with the real sound released separately.
@@JpointAHe does play sax on live versions; I wonder if there's a particular story about why he's playing sax for the music video - maybe it was cut out of the mix at last minute, or he's taking the piss at the idea of lip syncing.
Oh no, not done to Gentle Giant too.... Steven Wilson systematically destroys the classics. The hemorrhage he performed on the yes albums is mind blowing awful. He is polluting and diluting the originals. Just awful.
Wow can't believe it. I was playing some 70s great albums yesterday. First spin just happened to be Acquiring the Taste. Have a few of the early albums and always thought they were great. To hear you're still out there ( heck I didn't know ) I'll be looking looking for some new g g. Thanks
Love GG. What a musical talent they all had.
10cc's "Dreadlock Holiday" owes a debt of gratitude to this track!
Stuff 10cc! This is more up there with 'Haitian Divorce' by Steely Dan!
The tighest band ever! Live performances were incredible!
It's Reggae, Jim, but not as we know it. What a groove!
The most extraordinary band I was lucky enough to see. Three times. ✌️
Same here '75, '77, '80
My god the clear tone of that marimba! Steven Wilson you're brilliant

This band was too good. . . Their music is a balm to a mind and spirit.
Ray's bass groove though!!♥️

Aye, and it's been almost 40 years since I saw the farewell concert from Schwoißfuaß, in a hall I walked to from sunny Sonnenberg...
Damn...., you guys are old as the hills... shit.., maybe older, hahahaha
GG, one of my favs if not the favorite band!...
Btw way.., Im 67 😂

Na, ja, Junge. That's what we call "steinalt" in German. You and me both, mate.

Gentle Giant was a amazing and unforgettable Band.🏆

White Minimoog looks pretty cool
Love the closeup on Ray’s bass run
Shulman (RIP) and Weathers, one of the greatest rhythm sections of all time in the absolute GOAT band!
So glad you guys documented this music so we can still enjoy it 50 yrs later
Gentle Giant forever 🎉
Sounds so much more like a sax now! Thanks, Steven 🙂
GG: the band composed and played music with joy to make us happy.
I remember going to my friend Rob Adam's house(looked like a record store) and he told me to pick out an lp and I found GG and after he played it I was hooked, sad you all did not get much radio play in the USA. RIP Rob Adams you are missed

Gem!
brilliant music, great to hear it with such clarity. thanks very much Steven.
Gentle Giant forever! 🎉
Fantastic thanks from an old bloke who seen them in 1976 in NEWCASTLE
kind of a proto "Dreadlock Holiday"

Splendid. It sounds as though it was recorded yesterday.

Great vibe in this song , sound quality is excellent
Excellent!
Very cool, the remix is superb.

10 CC meets Griphon 😊
*Now, who said that math rock isn't indebted to the 70s prog in general??👀*
❤❤❤❤❤
Even the video quality is impeckable!
I certainly can find no reason to peck :)
Hacian musica de nuestro futuro hace 50 años
Can someone explain the time signature to me?
It's reggae, but not as we know it.
I'm counting a bar of7/8 and a bar of 5/8 repeating for the verses
Which one?
I heard some of 6/4, 4/4 and 3/4 haha
I break it up from 6/4 to one bar of 5/8 before the 4/4 section and a 2/4 and then 4/4 with a 7/8 , 8 lots of 3/8 then guitar THEN I gave up 🤕😊
Proggae.
are the 'glass house' masters around? i would love to hear that album remixed. my old import is all worn out. my 2nd fav gg album.
Nope, the tapes are lost, unfortunately.
I hope that with AI they could do something now.
Great band...great music....nowdays we listen to crap
Wait did 10cc rip this off?
Barely recognizable as GG sounding more like 10cc .

I dont see your criticism, assuming you understand that this footage is lip synced.
@@unknown6390 I mean when Derek plays the sax, it's kind of weird
