I remember trick or treating with those masks . I remember the sweat ! lol 😂I May have had a Raggedy Ann mask one year . I can’t remember ..!! Those were the days .
In my area, they're only holding online auctions, and they are really expensive. I used to go to auctions and bid on box lots and the primitives (aka, the furniture in need of a little tlc). That's the best way to furnish a home!
We take a cooler with cold packs and in with the water I add some damp tea towels so you can wipe off or just put them around your neck to cool off on the hot days. Really helps when standing around at the auction. I also keep a few sheets to put over what I've bought so no one goes through it after I've won the bid. That way I don't have to worry about it and just load it up when done.
That was an insane price for that tree and light. They must've been a collector. That and the lunchbox, too. I wonder what was so special about that bell. Just crazy prices.
The only reason I can think of for the bell’s high price was that it possibly may have been from a local school/church, something along those lines of having a history attached to the town or family whom these items came from.
I had forgotten about that game! One of my friend’s had it. I vaguely remember it had a door that your date was behind? Will have to check online what the pieces of the game looked like?
Looked lije lots of good things there. You looked a little hazzy at the end, guessing the humidity was playing havoc with the lense. It's been forever and a day since I've been to an auction. Household, farm or otherwise. Always enjoy the auctioneers bid calling. 👍👍
I noticed that too at the end, the humidity was really working on the camera! It was pretty hot that day, people were trying to sit under the shade as much as they could. Always enjoy an auction with a good auctioneer! Hope that your week has been going well!
I've never witnessed an auction at an estate sale, so I was happy that you had shared that portion with the auctioneers rattling off the numbers. It's almost like they're hypnotizing the audience into buying. Maybe it explains the high price bell. 😵💫
I'm pretty sure that doll is Penny Brite. My sister had one back in the 60s. I enjoy your videos! I used to live in SE PA, and my mom took us to auctions all the time, so that auctioneer cadence brings back memories.
My heart sinks when I see aluminum Christmas trees sell for big money like that one for 400.00. My dad kept all his stuff pristine. He had that same one with the poms at the end in the paper sleeves. I personally hated the aluminum trees as a kid. They were so cold. My son cleaned out my dad’ basement after he passed away. He asked me what I wanted to do with it. I said throw it away. Just like me to throw something valuable away and keep the junk. I asked my son if he still had it. He said he must have thrown it away . We still have the rotating light. I did save his great condition Pepsi blue metal insulated cooler,. I saw in a few videos coolers like it that were considered valuable. They didn’t look as good as my dad’s. I still have their fiberglass shaded lamp from the 50’s . I’m 73 and everything I have from the past is vintage. However, I hope my kids profit from these things. At my age I appreciate the history and value, but again they are only things. Family is the true value.
Well when you were a tot the real trees were a big deal to have. I sold the same one in the original sleeves but had it out on display in my booth. The sleeves were behind the tree and the lady that bought it last year was so thrilled to have it she forgot the sleeves! Oh well if she was happy I was too.
Great auction! Love the melamine dish set and the Ideal Penny Brite lil doll. Man I remember those days of trick or treating in those sweaty stifling masks, those were the days for sure! lol
Hi Renee. Oh My Lord! This Auction was insane. The prices on all items was to much for me. The Christmas 🎄 and light's, what collector got them. I am so glad you got something from the Auction. Hope your day is better than mine is. This heat is unbelievable. Please stay hydrated Renee. God Bless you sweet heart 💜❤️. HUGS 🤗. Mari'a. 🤗🤗❤️❤️🤗🤗❤️❤️👋👋👋👍👍👍👍👍👍🌻🌸🪻🌺🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
The coffee grinder started low & I was going to bid on it, but then the bids started getting high. I think a part of the stand was broken, but it still looked like a nice piece!
Gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. Enjoyed looking at the items with you, but you are right they seemed to be getting "collector's prices." Oftentimes the downside to auctions with a lot of interesting stuff, right? Thank for the video. Hope you have a cool and interesting Wednesday afternoon!
Years ago I went to a stamp auction. I go to estate sales, yard sales, etc. It amazes me how big those old houses are. Thanks for showing all the items. Tina, Al's wife
It was a hot auction day, hope you got some cold drinks with you. The "singing" auctioneers would be a real attraction over here, I remember some very old folks telling us that we got similar guys only at cattle auctions in Northern Germany. $ 32,- for a ceramic Christmas tree is not too pricey, as far as I learned from my P&M lessons. 😉 Some pretty nice finds though, I like especially the wool hat (a Quaker one ?!) and the Tonka loader. By the way, Renée: do you know where Ocean County is located in NJ ?? Keep it up, and see you on the next one ! Hopefully the weather will cool down a little bit. 🥵Greets from GER, U.
Showing pictures of the items being auctioned is great. It helps to see what the items sold for and helps in educating buyers. I'm headed to a large auction tomorrow.
I have a few aluminum trees, so it was easy to pass on that one 🙂 But I hope that the new owner is happy with their purchase or maybe they even were buying it to give as a gift to someone.
Glad that you found some goodies. Interesting how the bidding can go from one extreme to another when least expected. I’ve never been to an in person auction but it’s fun to hear the fast talking auctioneers and trying to keep up with them. 😀👍
I luv the aluminum trees..they are soo insanely priced now...wish I had my grandmas :( back then fam just pitched out what they didnt want :( ... do they frequently group like items and you have to buy both?? like the crocks and the flats of Putz houses? Id figure each would be a seperate auction item??
You look like you are "cookin'! I see some Lionel Train items. Yesterday a good lady friend and I had a great Mexican lunch...then went to the last antique collective on West Portal Ave. Lot's of nice stock...and guess what...I purchased a neat fr-g S & P set...of heavy cast brass! Well, I'm not the only one who bought S & P shakers!

I could have watched the whole auction sitting on the couch in the cool air That was fun I love auctions but not too many around my area I was waiting for you to bid on the silver Christmas tree 🤣 The melmine dishes are the cat's meow I'd use those every day Stay Happy 💙❤️❤️💜🇨🇦🦩
Well that was certainly interesting and fun! Prices are kinda crazy nowadays, even at auctions. You always seem to find the gems 💎 at them! Enjoyed the event with you! 🧡🌿
I was shocked at the price the aluminum Christmas tree went for 😮. You got some cool stuff, Renee. Thanks for taking us along, it was fun to hear the auctioneer. 😊
The family of one of my earliest babysitters (circa 1973-ish) had an aluminum Christmas tree in their living room that they lit using only one single large blue spotlight. I remember laying underneath it, mesmerized by the light glinting off the ends of the needles. I'd love to have that tree - $400 is expensive, but I can totally relate.
Hello Renee. Well in between the heat and high prices that was crazy . I think a few people must have had heat stroke and payed way too much for a bell , and the lunch box. That was an incredible auction! I loved the way you filmed it, as well. We saw the items before they were auctioned and then you showed them being auctioned - awesome! The aluminum tree was something. In perfect, brand-new shape - you couldn't get better. Put it up every Christmas, take care of it and the $400 price tag makes it worth it. Thanks for the great video. It IS hot, though - isn't it? We've had like two weeks straight of 80+ degrees, here in NYC.
@@ppurgett Think of it, too: those trees are about sixty years old. They can only get rarer. They'll always be worth money and it'll always look great, just to enjoy, for Christmas.
I like your auction videos but they make me nervous! I enjoy Estate Sales more, because you can buy what you want & can afford & sometimes make a bundle/deal!
Big prices. Phew😅Even bigger heat. Wow.💦💦 steamy camera. Not much ‘cept the old melamine for the toast, tomatoes and mozzarella. Bellissima. Cold drink time Renee- cheers!
Combined with the color wheel, I guess it’s not too high of a price to pay in person where one can inspect the item versus online. I’ve been lucky enough to find the trees at estate sales for under $50, just takes a few sales to find one!
This was because of the sun. People wanted to be in the shade, so sitting right out by the auctioneer offered no shade. Also by not crowding around the auctioneer, everyone could see the item & the runners had an open space to bring to the item to the buyer. We have about an hour to preview everything before the sale, so most try to look then at the items being auctioned off.

Awwww, Quick Draw McGraw was one of my favorite cartoons as a kiddie!!!
I loved the Quck Draw McGraw Lunch Box and Thermos. Great buy I thought. I loved watching that cartoon.
The doll is "Penny Brite", and advertising doll of some sort. Came in a red dress with white trim. They are relatively common.

Never will put that much $ into a vintage tree! And yes, it had to be a collector to pay that price.
My school used the handbell when I first started teaching here in Australia. Can’t believe the price- if only I’d kept one 🔔
