EXACTLY the video I've been looking for ! Can you tell me how deep/wide the groove you made to insert the spline ? Also, would the black spline be very visible? Could I use a similar diameter clear airline tubing instead?
Yes, so I used an 1/8 in (0.125) bit for the groove and went an 1/8 in in so that the spline wasn't sticking out and was able to fit and hold itself in place, because it's holding mesh in as well which keeps it tight. You can probably us a little smaller of a bit to make it an even tighter fit but it may be hard to push the spline in. this worked great. Thanks for the question, I hope this helps.
@@TheCoralReefTalkwhat kind of but did u use. And acrylic or polycarbonate? Thanks
How thick and wide are the groove on your plexiglass for the spline?
So the bit that was used was 1/8th inch and I just went deep enough that the spline would fit nicely inside like an 1/8. When the mesh gets pushed in-between it helps it fit in there pretty tight.
That’s a beautiful top, but like you said. It’s unrealistic for the average person.
Thank you so much. It definitely took some extra planning, I'm happy with it. Years ago I made one with a screen kit from Lowes. So many diy options out there.
Fantastic DIY , I've used screen kits from Lowes before. But love this version 🤩
Thank you so much. It was a fun project
How can I get that or something like that for my water box 6025 peninsula. Please help!!!
There are custom aquarium lid companies online that can design one for you. You can also get a screen kit from bulk reef supply or a diy screen option through Lowes.
How thick is the acrylic ?
The lid is 3/8 inch. Thanks for asking.
