  • Komatsu WA450 loading Gravel Wagon. This is a great demo of how to (the things to watch and do) load a gravel trailer. Loading a belly dump trailer with high sides is hard to see even with this large wheeled loader.
Of course there are faster operators, bigger loaders, and lots of folks who will be inclined to think or comment "In my day..." and such things.
    enjoy!

Nicely done by a knowing and careful operator. Note they slowed way down as the load gets higher. Good work.

@@ebinmaine that trailer is not fun to load either because it's too high to see into and at the loaders height capacity.
Last summer when I was loading at the stockpile there were a few of them. Seems like most trailers are a bit of a trick to get the correct amount in and not too heavy on either the truck or the back axles.

@lovesloudcars Agreed. At least nowadays we have use of onboard or local public scales. A Maine DOT Officer once told us, "If we can see any part of an aggregate load, it's probably overweight." I know there's a large local excavation company that's in with the DOT. Many of their trucks have scales.
Not too often we see a dump trailer that's mounded high anymore.

Never driven a loader that big but I know I wouldn't pick it up in a day!

@@jrifire they're pretty much the same, except you can certainly tell when you're that heavy. This will hold usually around 7.5-8.5000kg
The John Deere loader we had would hold over 12k. No sudden movements with that much at maximum lift height!

@@lovesloudcars I've driven a Volvo L120F. Used it to load a truck one time and one time only - the lack of visibility is what I think I'd take most to get used to.
12ton in the bucket!? One scoop and my rigid is at capacity 🤣

@@jrifire yes. It was a big loader. I think the most weight I ever got into that bucket was something near 13,500kg. Crazy really, how strong machines can be. - and then there's the stuff they use in mines that make these look like child's play.

Never think of putting it in to get it even, all carefully weighed out ,is that for the roads

@@trevmacc yes the weight limit is the legal road weight. If you get stopped and weighed they'll fine you.
Being centered in the middle isn't as critical with a belly dump because it all falls out the bottom, but a hoist box is important. The higher it lifts, the more critical it is to be centered. There's plenty of videos of guys tipping them over, often compounded by not being on level or firm ground.
