I am a Dylexsic was thrown from school due to failures... I never pass any exam... But Later in life I recognized that I like shapes and patterns and mathematics due to youtube... I did my PhD in mathematics, the topic was to generate shapes. Dyslexia helps to see patterns which normal people cannot

40% of self made millionaires are dyslexic! Prior to the recent literal times - we were the problem solvers, strategists, creative latera thinkers that everyone wanted around.
So much is lost in society by the relatively "new" assessment criteria.
I invented a way to spell which I help dyslexics with.
My last job was head of department in a specialist Dyslexic school. I took them from 13% to 100% A to C grades in just one year.
I have nothing but respect for the brilliance of the dyslexic mind

What an amazing video! My son struggled in school because of dyslexia. It affected his self-esteem. Education should be based on more than reading and writing. Students gain knowledge through experiences

Thanks! I know exactly what you speak about from my own life.
As a hard core dyslexic i were able to study law(german university) and became a lawer.
What i learned, way to many over estimate language skills and orthography.
Even as a lawyer at the end the content is important and not the right spelling;)
I got told from my clients, they like my work, because i find solutions no one was thinking about before. I think it is because i am dyslexic.
I think in pictures, thats how i can see the details with out loosing the whole picture.

I have dislexia too and I remember my math teacher told my mother, that in here class I never followed the way she explained how to find a solution. She told my mom that I found the correct solution but always my own way.
Brains function simply differently. With 68 years of age, dislexia is not a handicap for me anymore.

It’s is a different way of learning it’s not a disability at all I know I was told I was dyslexic back in the 70 s I was lucky my parents fought the school went to the media they got a phone call from a teacher at the university she had dyslexia herself but understood how to teach kids with dyslexia she became my teacher for 4 years I learned how to read and write correctly just with a different way to do it I no longer have the issue I sometimes have to re read sentences but I got it can corrected with teachers who are specifically trained in teaching with there techniques to help children with dyslexia it’s the school system who have it wrong it’s time we have schools just for dyslexic children they will be fine the world has to change dyslexics are right brain not left brain the mind is a beautiful thing

If dyslexia is not a learning disability, then we should take away any accommodations you can get in school or college under the ADA, including: preferential seating, audio guides, note-takers, using computers in class, taking tests in the library and extra time on tests.

Hey Sarah, that is such a shame your mum doesn’t believe that you have dyslexia. I was very lucky for it to be discovered when I was about 8years old. Even though my parents helped me as much as they can. I have struggled my hole life with it. When I met my wife she didn’t understand dyslexia so instead of trying to explain I went to the book store and picked up a book and gave it to her to read. I said please read this and then when your done come back and tell me what you think dyslexia is. Maybe try the same with your mum.

I have dyslexia but I got misdiagnosed with Asperger's syndrome(Autistic Spectrum Disorder)

  • @Scoupe400
    @Scoupe400 7 днів тому

Simple. It’s not a brain malfunction or deficiency. It’s a different wiring and use of the brain and worked fine for thousands of years. Until they came up with the academic system and then, having recognised a misfit, had to give it a name. And essentially it disables anyone with it in an academic driven society which recognises higher achievement through academia and exam settings. So yes a disability but not in the common sense and unlikely one that many dyslexics like to be labelled. However true it may be.

I am interested in you study technique that you call "mind maps." I want to know more. I used a similar system when I studied for essay exams. The professor would give us 10 essay questions and he would pick three from the list. I would research each question from the text and classroom lecture notes. I created a picture sequence to remember the essay. My question; Is that a mind map?
