This game was such a massive surprise for me and my friends. Not one of us knew the game even existed, one of us randomly saw that there was a playtest for it while browsing Steam and, seeing it was super light (like 4GB) we decided to give it a try. We played for 5 hours and ended up going to sleep at 4am. It was super fun and addictive. Played a couple hours more the enxt day before deciding to get the full game. It felt like SAO Relink but with, apparently, actual end-game and post launch support, so I'm hype.
It's pretty much Fatal Bullet V2, just instance based. With Dimps being involved with games like Soul Calibur/Xenoverse AND they made Fatal Bullet, I had expected Fract to be way better. Had fun in the beta but some of the issues are clear as day. If Dimps didn't bother to fix these issues before 1.0 then I'd bet they won't be fixing them anytime in the future. Which means I really question the quality of content in the foreseeable future. And ofc, the game's longevity. NOTE: I do know it's just beta and that some options are locked/hidden. That the team could possibly address these issues...but it's closing in on full release. They had PLENTY of time to fix stuff. - Lock on is detrimental and clunky as heck. Especially for some characters like LLEN/Leafa. Also, can't really target anything w/o using it else you just move past the target. They made lock on an essential mechanic, but it's just shit and works against you half the time. I mentioned LLEN. Yes, LLEN's abilities with Lock On, can find herself overshooting her past the target quite a bit. It's a problem for her specifically since she relies heavily on them to deal damage. - Can't AniCancel out of skills. I'm going to use LLEN again. She's a real victim. You shoot past your target with Skill #1, can't cancel out of it with enemies around you. Same with Skill #2 but worse. I assume Dimps is just respecting the source material, which is, despite Sword Skills being super duper good in most cases, the one most dangerous drawback is it's recovery time. Kirito explains this heavily at some point in the LN and we see it in the anime at the final battle against Heathcliff. I get it. But it sucks. So Much. Poor LLEN. Also Poor Leafa. Everything she does ani-locks her so hard. Don't forget she's a Healer?...I guess. Healer's need to have mobility. Speaking of Leafa, her fly skill is soooooooooooo poooooooooorly implemented. The leaderboard isnt helping in this either. It's making a 20-man coop raid a competitive scene for no reason. No one wants to be left behind and missing out on the action. But in my 15 hr experience, some teams I played with takes their time clearing, getting chests and slowly moving onward while team 2/3/4 is already on the last tower mission which has the most action before raid boss. I say last because you can farm there for EXP to level 24ish or whatever appropriate and then fight raid boss. The design is just really lazy with no thought process in it. I wouldn't be surprised seeing some toxic solo players forcing their team to clear the first area ASAP but dying immediately to mobs because the rest of the team is lacking behind, then that solo person rage quitting to another game.
