Just to give some background as to why some thais are biased against Indians. I took a grab taxi in Bangkok and I was chatting to the driver in English. He saw my wife was Indian and the subject went to Indians. He told me he was surprised how well we behaved in his taxi. Previously he had so many experiences with groups of young Indian men. One passenger broke his car audio system while (without permission) trying to connect his phone to it. Many others refuse to pay highway or parking charges and 1 man ran off and gave him a ₹10 note. These experiences are shared amongst thais and negative opinions are formed.
Some eben rolled the window and dump their used plastic bag on the road. The rudeness and lack of respect of others around them, for example like over jump the queue and pushing the person due to their rushing behaviour.
Please clean up moustache and bread while going asian countries, because they are not use to see that,may be scared, sincere advice, don't take it otherwise

I have been to Thailand once, my experience was mostly positive. I met friendly Thai people, most of them were approachable. If you found any bitter Thai, his experience with Indians must have been bad. Give respect, to get respect.
Yes I lived in Thailand for a while and my experience with Thai people was extremely good. I had few good thai friends too ❤.... They always treated me well and in fact I had a nice thai girl friend too 😊

Heck, I’ve even got an Indian expat sharing a cab with me, and haggled with the cab driver over the fare, when the amount is metered. I chased her out of the cab and continued with my journey.
They are some shitty tourists as well but they don't have rights to generalize us all in same negative way. If I am gentle, makes no nuisance and respect your culture then I also deserve respect from you. If I am brat then I deserve it.
I faced the same in Bengaluru few years back just because of my mongoloid looks. The person even had the audacity to call me chinki and just shooed me away like I was some stray dog. In my own country. We meet all kinds of people in our life. Some good and some like the one you encountered. Thank you for standing up for yourself.
I am from Hong Kong. Hong Kong tourists are welcome in Thailand, no matter how we dress. We love the Thais but your experience at this hotel fits what we would call discrimination, racial or otherwise. It is commendable for you to fight for your right.

Similar to Yr weight I stood my ground against a hugu fat tall horrible nasty eastern European security guard.. These were during covid.. Some wore mask n some didn't I did not but u know what I then walked away bcoz I refuse to wear a mask over something I believe in.. However I rather not shop n give my customs to an establishment, esp racist ones
My experience was bad in Bangkok. They don't like Indians much, probably because of bad experiences with Indians earlier. In Kanchanaburi, people were very friendly and warm. Probably because a lot of Indians don't go there. 🙂 The worst of India visits Bangkok, Phuket and a few other places, I don't blame them.

I am an Indian living in Thailand and yes there can be racial undertones and some blatant racism based on previous bad behavior of a few Indians that project towards Indian tourists as a whole. In general Thais are lovely people, following the principals of Buddhism and believe in Karma. Lebua is a hotel and Sirocco is the rooftop bar. The entrance you showed where guests were entering is the back door entry to the hotel that includes going to the rooms and various other restaurants that do not include the dress code they have set for the rooftop bar. Yes, the dress code can be open to interpretation by you as well as the hostess so it can be confusing sometimes. If you notice once you were at the bar, most people were formally dressed and most men were wearing trousers. No doubt when you are traveling for leisure, you may not always opt to carry ‘formal’ clothing so fully clothed even though casual should not stop them from allowing you into any establishment that caters to tourists and locals. I hope you otherwise had a wonderful and friendly vacation in Thailand. Cheers!

Hi there! I am Thai living in Thailand, and seeing this breaks my heart as I know that not everyone or every hotel in Thailand is like the one in this vlog. I can the disappointment in your face when you were treated poorly at that hotel. This hotel is well-known for their arrogance and discriminative stance against Asian customers, not just Indians though. Even I, as a Thai person, could not enter their hotel because I wan not wearing a formal pair of shoes while other European guests could walk in just fine wearing crocs and strapped shoes. And you were right to stand your ground and face them. Your arguments were valid and justified, and you handled them very well. But, please do not let these awful people and their pretentious hotel discourage you from enjoying your stay in Thailand. I, for one, is lucky enough to have known several good and kind Indian friends. Also, Thai and Indians we share so many things in common like language roots and religions and food. There is a large Indian community in Thailand who contribute so much to Thailand economy (many multi-million dollar companies in Thailand are own by Indians who create thousands of jobs for Thai people). So without Indian people, Thailand would still be 20 years behind in development. I must commend this guy for being patience and honourably fighting for his rights. Due to the discriminatory practice against Indians from India, other Indians from different countries are affected annoyingly. When I visited Thailand every Thai person including the airport staff, tuk tuk driver, bar girls, restaurant, 7-eleven etc. spoke to me in Thai. I felt so much more safe and at home in Thailand than India.
I was really glad to see how happy and carefree you looked on the rooftop, like a child enjoying the moment. But I must also give credit to the Thai manager - she handled everything with such patience and professionalism. She really deserves praise for her work.
I share an experience 15yrs back. I booked thailand tour through an agent. Me and my wife were going as we had that much money to go there. The agent gave me tip that i should fill my Empty water bottle with Juice and pack fruits etc from the Free Breakfast that was offered by the hotel. Remind you this was 15yrs back, and i looked at him as i couldn't understand, this was 1sg time me going out of country, hell i never sat in a plane before. So i asked him was this a practice in Thailand as i will never do this kind of thing in India. He said no, but all indians do it , we advise them to do it. And hotel staff will not say anything. I told him i cannot do this kind of thing, and he told me on my face that for an image you will waste money like a fool. So 15yrs of such kind of thinking, i am not at all surprised, this kind of thing happening in Thailand. As Thailand still very cheap to travel and people with very little money can go there without showing any money in thier bank accounts. Sad affairs , but travel agents should be the 1 giving good advice to people. Especially 1st time travelers.

I am a South African of Indian descent. We suffered the same kind of racism in the Apartheid days. It is most dehumanizing , hurtful, agnozing, annoying and makes you feel subhuman. There were even separate amenities for whites and blacks even the toilets . This is disgraceful simply because we are categorized as Indians and yet we come from one of the oldest cultured civilizations in the world. I will never ever visit Thailand and we are over one and half billion people in the world. We should boycott visiting Thailand. In Bali,Indonesia, many of them refused to pay the hotel, massage, spa, etc. We hate them also

I’m so glad you got to finally get in and enjoy the gorgeous view. I am an Indian living in Thailand and yes there can be racial undertones and some blatant racism based on previous bad behavior of a few Indians that project towards Indian tourists as a whole. In general Thais are lovely people, following the principals of Buddhism and believe in Karma. Lebua is a hotel and Sirocco is the rooftop bar. The entrance you showed where guests were entering is the back door entry to the hotel that includes going to the rooms and various other restaurants that do not include the dress code they have set for the rooftop bar. Yes, the dress code can be open to interpretation by you as well as the hostess so it can be confusing sometimes. If you notice once you were at the bar, most people were formally dressed and most men were wearing trousers. No doubt when you are traveling for leisure, you may not always opt to carry ‘formal’ clothing so fully clothed even though casual should not stop them from allowing you into any establishment that caters to tourists and locals. I hope you otherwise had a wonderful and friendly vacation in Thailand. Cheers!

Hi there! I am Thai living in Thailand, and seeing this breaks my heart as I know that not everyone or every hotel in Thailand is like the one in this vlog. I can the disappointment in your face when you were treated poorly at that hotel. This hotel is well-known for their arrogance and discriminative stance against Asian customers, not just Indians though. Even I, as a Thai person, could not enter their hotel because I wan not wearing a formal pair of shoes while other European guests could walk in just fine wearing crocs and strapped shoes. And you were right to stand your ground and face them. Your arguments were valid and justified, and you handled them very well. But, please do not let these awful people and their pretentious hotel discourage you from enjoying your stay in Thailand. I, for one, is lucky enough to have known several good and kind Indian friends. Also, Thai and Indians we share so many things in common like language roots and religions and food. There is a large Indian community in Thailand who contribute so much to Thailand economy (many multi-million dollar companies in Thailand are own by Indians who create thousands of jobs for Thai people). So without Indian people, Thailand would still be 20 years behind in development. I share an experience 15yrs back. I booked thailand tour through an agent. Me and my wife were going as we had that much money to go there. The agent gave me tip that i should fill my Empty water bottle with Juice and pack fruits etc from the Free Breakfast that was offered by the hotel. Remind you this was 15yrs back, and i looked at him as i couldn't understand, this was 1sg time me going out of country, hell i never sat in a plane before. So i asked him was this a practice in Thailand as i will never do this kind of thing in India. He said no, but all indians do it , we advise them to do it. And hotel staff will not say anything. I told him i cannot do this kind of thing, and he told me on my face that for an image you will waste money like a fool.
So 15yrs of such kind of thinking, i am not at all surprised, this kind of thing happening in Thailand. As Thailand still very cheap to travel and people with very little money can go there without showing any money in thier bank accounts. Sad affairs , but travel agents should be the 1 giving good advice to people. Especially 1st time travelers.

Well said. People have to read that smart casual wear and other policies mentioned there atleast 10 times to understand what they are saying than arguing what was not said. These people are creating hatred for thier own benefits

@@ori5581 They have a different attitude, perception, belief etc and that's why they moved away. Btw, Before 1950 we were all separate States, not the current India. They were different people, combined as India and then separated again.
