The knowledge you spout while just casually talking is greatly appreciated. I find myself taking mental and physical notes. Would be cool to see you build something to We RC Rock rules. Thank you.
You had mention your crawler canyon shopping list on Amazon to build a crawler from scratch. How do I locate that list. I need a headstart on parts to get started. Before, Lord helpe, I buy a red cat. 😮
I bought one of those dig gear boxes. The bearing and shaft fit was so ungodly sloppy, i ended up machining the spur back plate to fit a 5x12 bearing to hold the shaft closer to the spur, just to try to reduce the slop. We will see how it hold up long term.
I haven't had any issue with any of my cheap dig boxes-- but I have noticed some variance in the top shafts. Some just don't fit as tightly in the bearing. Luckily, a top shaft is a simple thing, so I just replace as needed. This is the price of low prices-- the fitment on a $90 Hurtz dig unit is immaculate, as it should be. But I can get three cheapo dig boxes for that.
@CrawlerCanyon the top shaft measured .15mm undersized (intermediate gear shaft as well), and the bearing bores measured .08mm oversize. That slop combined with the close distance between the 2 bearings resulted in roughly .5mm slop total in the spur. I replaced the metal shielded bearings with quality rubber sealed parts, peened the bearing bores over to tighten up the bearing in the housing, replaced the top shaft with one a genuine one that was in spec, then machined the spur back plate to house a 5x12 bronze bushing to control the movement out closer to the spur itself. With all of that, I've gotten it down to a few thousands of an inch. The dig itself is great! The gear box. Ehhhhh. Like you said. Price of cheap goods.
Question... I got a cheap rgt bowler about 4 years old. Plastic diff is stripped. Any idea where I can get a replacement diff or anything I can replace it with?
I dug around and the most recent stuff I could find about the Bowler was from 2018-- but the stripping of the plastic spool seemed pretty common. Seems that the ECX Barrage and FTX Outback shared a whole bunch of parts in common, and that the 680010 from Redcat/HSP will fit. If you're in or near the US, send me an email-- I may well have one or two of those spools in an old parts bin and would gladly send them to you to prevent you from plunking money down on Redcat bits. No surprise that spool blew up, BTW-- they're originally from 1/18 axles, apparently.
I have a set of the AMK u/o gears for the trx4 and they grind both front and back..Im tempted to get the traxxas diff set. Ive tried everything type of shimming, it aint happening. I also have the trx4 lcg chassis as Kronk. If you put the traxxas 5525 rod ends on the rear, you get a 336 wheelbase, the same as a Hightrail. Driveshafts fit perfect and so does the F150 body. I did a soa mount and 4linked the front.
Good job on the video 👍 My wife and I just picked up a couple of the Ascent fusions pretty impressed so far.
3phase motor in the industrial place setting to reverse rotation is switching any 2 of the 3 wires the brushless should be no different. Great watch.

It appears I need the plastic diff the gear attached to. Looks like 680009. But can't find that part for sale.
What's your crawler canyon email. I shoot you my personal info in case you find one in a parts bin.

I always miss the live stream because I am always building something, house stuff or RC stuff. Never near the computer at stream time.
Missed the stream, but im here for the encore!

I haven't had to shim any of mine-- are you on the lockers or the spools?
