      @@mantgrta9728 Even if he is the "3rd best safety" which seems like a stretch, the Browns got him in the middle of the 2nd round. He was 3rd safety off the board and a 4th safety went the very next pick.

    Matt is fortunate to have this man RC as a friend and guest,, there is no substitute for certain knowledge when it comes to talking about a subject,, Clark has that in abundance and his communication skills are direct,, and packed full of relevant facts.

    I’m glad it worked out the way it has because he wouldn’t have fallen to my Brownies if it didn’t. Browns got a steal at 44 and that is going to feed him to be that much better! Him and Greedy!!

    Excellent segment! Ryan is spot on with everything he's saying here, particularly when it comes to the fans perspective. While you certainly don't need to have played the game in order to understand it, there's no denying that it's much easier to have empathy for the position some of these guys are in when you've also had those experiences.
    As fans, it's very easy to cast damning judgment on athletes because of all the scrutiny professional sports invites. Especially at a time like this, when every conceivable metric for an athlete is measured and made public. Any person with an IQ high enough to operate Google and compare numbers is capable of finding the information necessary to support any outlandish opinion they feel like spewing, and as a result we have a sports culture in which the vast majority of fans feel adequately informed to do just that.
    And because the vast majority of sports programming is centered around two people at opposite ends of the same table arguing for three hours straight, we somehow feel emboldened to do the same. Add in social media and the unprecedented access we now have to these athletes, who can read our abusive tweets within thirty seconds of us posting, and what you have is the unhealthiest fan/athlete relationship in history.
    So, it's very honorable of Ryan Clark to use his platform like this -- to take up for a young player like Grant Delpit -- knowing how hard it is for him to express the impossible position he's in. While I do still think some of this criticism comes with the territory, it is important for us as fans to realize that these guys are human. I know that is an embarrassingly obvious statement, but there's no doubt that the helmets, jerseys, numbers, logos and superhuman physical ability does make most of us forget that beneath it all is a person with the same exact thoughts and emotions as the rest of us. Let alone that many of them, especially those still in college, are much younger than those at home screaming at their televisions for no reason.

    • @justinbgr
      @justinbgr 4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, it's really admirable and makes me respect RC on a whole different level.
      The problem is that social media breeds criticism that is disingenuous. I know we're never going to solve some of these problems, but guys like Ryan are part of the solution in how they are grounding these kid's in a media environment that is constantly trying to derail their ambitions and careers for the sole purpose of garnering a fraction of attention.

    Grant is the best safety in football . HIS STATS WILL BE DIFFERENT AS HE COACH COUNCIL AND LEAD A DEFENSE THIS YEAR HIS ROLL IS HUGE AND TEAMS WILL AVOID HIM .Man NFL teams would be crazy not to see what he bring to the table. Geaux tigers

    grant delpit is going to be a free safety for the browns, so half of his "tackling issues" will go away right there. the the other half will mostly be taken care of through coaching. delpit has many unique and elite-level skills that cannot be coached, but tackling is mostly about technique, which can and will be coached.

    • @mckels475
      @mckels475 4 роки тому

      Free safeties tackle half as much as strong safeties? Browns have been a bad tackling team, hopefully Scho and Randall leaving will remedy that. But drafting a guy who struggles to tackle isn't a way to improve team tackling.

  • @BreadVanVleet

    I'm a browns fan and I am excited. His bad tackling isn't due to effort or mentally, but bad technique. He will get better.

    And he got the Thorpe award for a good reason. I don't recall any of the other safety's in draft being awarded the best db in NCAA. Theres probably a reason for that....maybe because he was the best of all the other players at db by far? Could be why idk maybe its given based on something else not related to stats and his performance in games.

    • @ericcrossley4824

    Well I've never criticized Grant but I will bring up a complaint about Ryan Clark. There's no need to imply coach Bill Bush might be a problem for Grant. Bill Bush was his coach last year when he had a good year.

    • @MultiKool13
      @MultiKool13 5 років тому +1

      He's playing out of position a lot, that's why his stats aren't as good, and instead of covering WRs and blitzing the QB all game he's on a lot more RBs and TEs who are a lot bigger than he is so he's missing tackles

    ryan speaking straight facts . my 2nd favorite current college player grant i just see a guy who may could be trying to make the big hut and not wrap up at times or just the fact like he is human its just after showing how great he is and getting 7 people expect perfection . he's fine he will have splash plays soon

    In the pros 1 on 1 tackles are not good. So if you can get to a guy make him change direction slow down. Well that's what you want. So Delpit will be alright

  • @thawkereynolds
    @thawkereynolds 4 роки тому

    Because hes now a Brown and I hate the Browns it pains me to say this but why dont people address the shoulder injury he was playing with? I understand that tackles can be hard to make like Ryan is saying but hes not addressing the real reason he "fell off". I played thru HS and I know if I got a stinger in the 1st qtr of a game I'd be more inclined to miss a tackle later in game because the stinger is on my mind. Whether the shoulder injury was really bad and physically affected his tackling or it had just become a mental block it should not be dismissed

    Man im sorry if u have a tackling problem- it's you. A bad tackling rep or streak dont just come out of thin air. Play some bball learn how to mirror go bk to textbook tackling. There is no excuse for consistently bad tackling unless maybe ur injured.

      He WAS injured the majority of 2019 with a high ankle sprain and played through it. That's plain tough right there. And check his playoff tape, especially the title game, after he had a month to heal up...
