I already liked Klavier, and yet this made him more likeable for me. With all the trauma he went through in AJ, when he reappears in DD he seemed perfectly fine (unless I missed something). It's just very...unnatural to me, and irks me. And I can definitely see Klavier as the type of guy to randomly traumadump as his way of seeking help. Anyway what I'm trying to say is that we need a game centered around Klavier, god damnit! C'mon Capcom!
Yeah, I have a lot of issues with his portrayal in DD. The game is ultimately flawed by the writing direction to quite literally ignore everything that happened in AJ, which makes it infuriating (to me) whenever there's something that should have connected. The "Dark Age" should have mentioned Phoenix's disbarment more, but his entire character was reset just because people were crying about the direction he went in AJ. You can see traces of Kristoph's influence in Apollo (which I think people tend to overestimate for the sake of KlApOlLo considering he literally did not have much of a reaction when charging him in 4-1, but this could have been the chance to give their relationship more depth than what was shown on screen) during the final case of DD. But what they did with Klavier is just a lazy cameo. I try to interpret his flanderization as him coping, in a sense, by maintaining the rockstar persona he had throughout his life, as that is all he has left. He lost his brother and his band; but there's still the need to put on his facade, because he still has that. It's like a defense mechanism of sorts. There's a separation between Klavier Gavin, person, and Prosecutor Gavin, but now that Klavier, Gavinners frontman doesn't need to play anymore, that's kind of combined with his other professional persona; and that separation keeps him from crumbling. Something like that lol I know how to interpret it, but putting it into words is difficult. But him playing "The Guitar's Serenade" is ridiculous to me. Literally WHY would he play that after what happened. And I can not be deluded into believing Juniper just HAPPENED to make the exact same outfit as Lamiroir (also i hate juniper and every other character involved in turnabout academy they make me mad but i digress).
klavier honestly is a very interesting character. unfortunately i can not write anything proper because college is sapping my will to live and i have not had genuine time to write anything since moving into the psych ward cell that is my dorm room so here is this in lieu of a meaningful piece of writing or anything with a remote ounce of substance
I just discovered this Klavier traumadumping series and it really highlights how much shit Klavier's been through and it sucks that it's never addressed in the games 😭 But these videos are funny at the same time

yeah i did enjoy DD but the writing just really isn't great. part of why i like klavquill so much is because it inherently remedies that disconnect from the narratives lol. and thank you :) the source material won't so the english major will. i'm sick of seeing him mischaracterized lol not even by the source material but by the fanbase as well

oh i was just going off what klavier says in game since he’s said “auf wiedersehen” before in game. i didn’t know it was “jawohl” rather than “ja wohl” tho… i’ve been living a lie (i do not speak german) kristoph didn’t necessarily force him to disband the gavinners though, it was rather a decision he seemed to come to after the events of turnabout succession. i interpreted it more as him feeling such intense guilt and responsibility over not realizing what kristoph had been doing all those years-or at least not acting on his doubt, since he seemed to have some suspicion-and deciding he needs to focus more on law, thus disbanding the gavinners. i might’ve worded it oddly in this, but that’s how i see it BAHAHAHA
