Unlike China & Korea who still bares antagonism for Japan because of WW2, Filipinos has moved on thanks to the foresight of President Elpidio Quirino on handling Japanese POWs in the 1950s & repatriating them back to Japan. Despite losing loved ones to the Japanese occupation himself, he forgave & recognized that nurturing hatred & seeking revenge would only perpetuate cycle of violence for the next generation. 🇵🇭🇯🇵🤝

It is commendable that Japan is willing to invest heavily in the Philippines. There is a lot of potential in both the people and the resources of the Philippines. However, no matter how many factories or developed opportunities are established within the Philippines, there will be the long established wall of Corruption to deal with. It permeates all levels of government and can be witnessed by the massive poverty and gross under-development that exist everywhere in the Philippines. Beyond the highly polished hotels and resorts of Manila, and other cities, there exist squaller and poverty beyond imagination. A high degree of hopelessness and apathy exist among people (mostly rural), with no hope of improving their lives. I am hopeful that Japanese development will provide a stepping stones for better lives. Filipinos can be molded into hard working, industrious, people if they're given the opportunity and foster the work ethics of other strong developed nations.

Stop claiming "high degree of hopelessness and apathy" narrative just because being poor in poverty, it sounds like 75% of Filipinos are like that enough to be compared to what's happening to China - CCTV recorded one elder person fall into the road with no one help him until he died because of fear pressure, or Japan - mob mentality of overwork until death, because of can't improve their lives. This is only the start. Don’t you think that South Korea, Singapore, Europe and North America are looking to use Filipino workers and partner with Philippine companies to gain footholds in the Philippines? Didn’t Austria express their desire to use Philippine workers for the next 15 years. So why promote the Hontiveros’ RH Law? That Law should be repealed. It’s the young demography, good education and skills and English proficiency that attracts other countries to use Filipinos.

@@davidarvingumazon5024 , what homeless people? Even the very few squatters in the Philippines that are left are not homeless. They build shacks in properties not their own and no one bothers them until the properties they squat in are used. Furthermore, they have no need of AC or hearing in the tropics and the use of natural ventilation is adequate. Nowadays, when the property they squat on is commercialized, they are given public condo units. I believe the policy to build infrastructure and commercial buildings follow that rule.
Their children still go to public school.
Homeless in the West and China is a sentence far worse as they freeze in the winter. Get your terminology correct and don’t pretend China or Western countries are still better because that’s not true anymore. Your old lies don’t hold anymore.
