The red white and royal blue book is amazing, and I would say literally 50% of it isn’t in the movie. Key characters gone, the importance of his moms campaign, and even the way things come out (trying not to spoil anything) are completely different or missing. So I would say if you haven’t read the book you don’t really know a huge portion of the story and I definitely recommend the book! I get that for the movie they cut stuff out to focus on the relationship, but there are such strong relationships and great dialogue outside of just the two main guys in the book that really make it wonderful.

Poor Nahla. 🥺 I sell custom cakes, cookies, cake pops etc… and have learned the hard way many times. Baking is not easy. It takes so much patience, give yourself lots of grace girl. It’s all trial and error! ❤
As a gluten free baker I would suggest if she makes a GF cake again she use a flour blend like Cup 4 Cup. It mimics all purpose flour and can be substituted for equal amounts. It’s light & fluffy.
Almond flour is oily and heavy and then adding frosting on top of the cake gets pretty intense. But a little does add some nice moisture to other GF recipes 💗
I can’t believe it’s back to school time already. This summer flew by! We have trees turning color already. Also your basement kitchenette is looking so good!! I can’t wait to see it finished.

So my young baking story ….. My grandma made the best lemon pie and I asked her to show me how. She told me to grab some lemons at the grocery so I grabbed A HUGH BAG OF LEMONS, ABOUT 30 LEMONS! I’ll never forget how she laughed and told me it took about two lemons 😂😂😂😂😂 But I use her recipe today ❤

This was such a good vlog! I love my record player and getting to have them playing during the day. You are such a wonderful mom, I love the independence that you build in both kids. Tzatziki sauce is my favorite with falafel. I love using the fudge stripe cookies to make smores! And those Elf cookies are a childhood memory unlocked!
My favorite cookie from my childhood is the pink and white animal cookies from Mothers? I think? Instant nostalgia when I see them in the cookie aisle.
I have never liked Oreos. They were never worth the coal colored teeth. However, I recently had one of those golden Oreos at a kids party and I could probably eat the heck out of those! So good!

Nutter Butters are my #1 favorite cookies, followed by Golden Oreos.

Lmao girl you get me. I had a rough summer, and did NOT touch my kitchen. I wanted to clean and reorganize it. My son went back to school Monday, (he started HS btw 😭), I started cleaning and organizing my kitchen the second I dropped him off. 🤣🤣 Did a full reorganization, top to bottom. It took me all week but I’m almost completely done lol I just need to do under the kitchen sink, but I was waiting for organizational things to come in lol. I don’t know what it is, but when it’s just me and the dog I get SO much done! Lol
And falafel is chickpea or fava beans and spices. And the sauce pairing is tahini! The tartness of it goes so good together! Lol definitely give it another try. TJs may have a tahini sauce you can try.

I have a record player like yours and I found that just buying some separate speakers for it really helps improve the sound quality. Not even super expensive speakers, mine were like 30 dollars from target and the sound quality greatly improved for not a lot of money!

Felafel in a pita with hummus, chopped cucumbers and tomatoes is FIRE. Cut the pita like a pocket and add the items. Drizzle some tahini sauce if you want the ultimate experience. Israeli felafel stands have a salad bar and you can add all kinds of delish like spicy carrots, french fries, pickles .... it's really a thing. (Felafel is usually made with chick peas or fava beans).
Any kind of baking requires exact measurements. I’ve learned that. Granted, there are recipes that you can be off a little and it stills comes out amazing.
I DID watch red, white, and royal blue and I really liked it! I did read the book, the story line was pretty different but I enjoyed both! I think if I was a little bit younger I would’ve loved it more (I’m 24)
Falafel yes are chickpeas .The best part is the sauces really Tazitki and Tahini usually eaten in a pita with cucumber and the sauces .Some are less dry .Usually have middle eastern spice profile.
Red, White and Royal Blue became one of my absolute comfort books. I love the main characters and the family and friends in the book too. I was so excited to see it adapted, and I was so excited about the casting. They changed many, many main plot points and also characters/names. I highly suggest reading the book even if you didn’t enjoy the movie! I’m typically lot a contemporary romantic kind of girl but this one did it for me. That being said, I just liked the movie. Not love, not hate

Im not a huge Oreo fan either, but I did find i like the Oreo "thins" the most... like you I dont like double stuffed either.. and even less creme is the best in an oreo lol

Loved the book and movie for red white and royal blue. There were definitely a lot of things missing or different in the movie to the book. But it would have to be a waaaaaay longer movie which just isn’t possible.

I would recommend an audiotechnica LP60 for the record player upgrade. you will need to buy speakers to go with it. part of the problem with the Crosley is that the speakers are terrible. the audiotechnica one comes in wired connection for the speaker or Bluetooth
Gurrrrl let me tell you, Vegas being Vegas aside (listen I get it) THE ADELE SHOW IN VEGAS WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. EASILY the best concert I’ve ever been to. When I went I was still salty she cancelled the year before and the immediately when I was there and it was happening I was like yeah ok I get it, ICONIC.

If you microwave the soft cookies for like 10 seconds it makes them warm and taste fresh baked!

Oh poor Nahla, I've done that multiple times. If she wants to forego measuring cups, what she can do is measure out her favorite recipes in grams, record it, and then she can do all her baking by weighing instead of measuring! But she'll wanna do that for each of her recipes and record it herself, not all flours weight the same
When I was growing up my mom used to say that baking was a science and cooking was an art. Obviously thats not really true but it did get the point across that when you bake you need to be on point with measurements.
I was taught the same and find it to be pretty true...I can't just throw random amounts in a bowl and get cupcakes but random amounts in a skillet usually turns out great!

Gluten free flour is the answer! I have Celiac disease and I don't particularly enjoy almond flour. Anywho, I like cup 4 cup, Krusteaz, and Pillsbury gf flour. They're all the same and don't need any extra ingredients (like xantham gum) as regular flour
Personally my favorite cookie is a lemon cookie not the Oreo brand but the great value brand 😋
