もしくは、所有していない場合は山の所有者の許可を得て山採りしています。
Mountain harvesting is done in the mountains I own. Or, if I don't own it, I'm harvesting it with the permission of the owner of the mountain.

I just logged in to say exactly the same thing. When I was learning to collect trees I was taught to collect a rootball. A tree of any size might need the roots cutting while in the ground and left untilthe following year.
I'm going to be trying this 'do or die' method but initially on something I won't mind losing.
