- De bourg rural où l’agriculture était dominante, Manosque s’est progressivement urbanisée. Cependant, l’oliveraie et la culture de la vigne restent prégnantes. Ainsi, l’oléiculture soutenue par le groupement des oléiculteurs de Haute-Provence et du Luberon conserve un impact important sur la ville (le Moulin de l’Olivette, moulin à huile coopératif de Manosque, a d’ailleurs reçu de multiples distinctions et notamment la médaille d’or de Paris. En ce qui concerne la vigne, Manosque est aujourd’hui la deuxième productrice de vin du département, dont les cépages sont connus sous les labels de « vin de pays des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence » et « AOC Pierrevert ».
Dans les années 1960, la commune voit sa population s’accroître avec l’arrivée du Centre d’Étude Atomique (CEA) de Cadarache. L’urbanisation s’étend alors vers les collines puis de nouveaux quartiers voient peu à peu le jour, comme très récemment le quartier Bellevue qui comprend le lycée des Iscles et la salle des fêtes Osco Manosco. Aujourd’hui, Manosque dépasse les 24 000 habitants et reste le centre le plus important du département.
Manosque est jumelée avec la ville de Leinfelden-Echterdingen (Allemagne) depuis 1973 et avec la commune de Voghera (Italie) depuis 1984.
Manosque est une ville dynamique où il fait bon vivre. Elle est dotée de toutes les infrastructures indispensables : tout type de commerces, tissu associatif important, théâtre, salle des fêtes, hôpital, écoles allant de la maternelle au BTS, école internationale…

Yes it is ! This city is also known for a famous brand of cosmetics "L'Occitane en Provence". This famous brand was created in Manosque and its head office is still present there.

Superbe ! Ça sent bon les Alpes de Haute Provence !!! Nous y sommes passées il y a quelques années et Manosque ressemble bien aux villes de la région. Nous espérons que la pluie ne vient pas trop perturber tes tournages. En tous les cas, pluie + soleil, ça doit être magnifique au niveau végétation. A lundi prochain ;-)
