the music video for “blue” is very special to me. it was filmed in two states in brazil, including where i was born and still live today (bahia). in 2023 during the renaissance era, bey came back here with an event that was exclusive to fans. she showed up as a surprise and everyone was shocked. i had the opportunity to see her in person for the first time and it was CRAZY. i love the affection she has for my country, my state and our culture. she is VERY loved here!!
Love the fact that you are both uncovering more depth with Beyoncé’s music and character 😍. Fun fact! The name Chimamanda was previously simply Amanda. Chimamanda made a point of converting the English name to an Igbo name, from scratch. It was important to her to claim her own name. What an honour it is to pronounce her name with awareness, dignity and care.
Fun fact the red head in the heaven video is her dance captain Ashley 😉. She’s always by her side in almost all of her videos. She was absent during the renaissance era but surprised everyone during the Super Bowl performance. That song makes me cry so much.
I always saw Flawless as more about her journey to finding confidence and realizing she’s amazing even without always winning. Also about rising above all the pressure society puts on women to obsess over what they can "fix" to be better (Pretty Hurts sets that tone so well). Plus, the song is titled "Flawless***" and the part in the video where Girls Tyme gets 3 stars while the winners get 4 it all ties together.
Pharrell does sing Happy but he is a very popular producer, he has songs with everyone. Yes, that is Kelly and Michelle. I believe Heaven is about her first child that she miscarried. I can't wait for you to see this live. Don't pay no attention to the haters guys, great reaction. I can't wait for you to see this liveI
Not Ryan butchering my Nigerian aunty Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie's name 😂. "I woke up up like this" was such a huge pop culture moment. Everyone was using it to post morning selfies.
Even though this is not my favorite album of hers the way she created it and finally shedding that last bit of that normal way of album rollout (like doing pr and interviews, going to talk shows and basically begging everyone to listen to you lol) and creating her way of releasing her art was really important on her career. Every new album of hers truly takes her to a different level of an artist and this one was probably was the biggest jump. I loved the way her art even though it's very personal she handles it in a way that two white man from canada and a women from middle east can relate or at least understand a black women from america 😄. Great reaction as always thanks for doing this 💗 Are you gonna do the lemonade film as a whole or just gonna watch it as music videos only?
You two have become the ultimate Beyoncé reactors! On behalf of the Beyhive, we really appreciate both of your admiration and appreciation for Beyoncé’s, sometimes misunderstood art! Can’t wait to see more!
Wow guys. We’ve come so far lol. I was a bit critical of y’all choices of work from her in the beginning but I have literally grown to appreciate it now and that became super evident to me by how quickly I clicked this video to watch. Idk how y’all did that lol. Anyways, love y’all’s reaction and cannot wait until y’all get to the full Lemonade era. ❤
This means you’re that much closer to Lemonade! In particular daddy issues, don’t hurt yourself and sandcastles. Excited to hear your thoughts when you cover that.
I automatically like every video pre watching because I know it’s going to be great, thanks for another brilliant reaction video, also greatly appreciate that you guys rarely pause the video, and only give your analysis after. Thank you! 🐝💕 > and no that’s not a bee farting out a heart Ryan, it’s my hive self showing you guys love! 😂
you gotta watch the 6 part self titled mini documentary on her youtube channel. It's cool to see behind the scenes of the making of the album and videos then the 2014 vma medley of the self titled tracks is another must watch (she won the Michael Jackson video vanguard award)
if you have a chance, please watch “YOURS + MINE” - the self titled anniversary video, it’s a mini documentary with beyoncé narrating, delving into her thoughts on humanity.
I remember after her performance (and getting awarded) at the 2014 VMA's for this album some people were so shocked and kinda angry that she intertwined"feminist" movement and speech with Flawless. Missing many points but one of them being that when some men say they are the king of something or the best/show boat or call themselves Alphas in front of a room of other men that's typically deemed as okay, normal or sometimes even applauded for- however if women praise themselves especially to that extent- displaying in any way that they are the queen of something, showboating slightly they are usually displaced in some nonsensical throw away category and often times down played for their work and achievements. All while waiting for someone (usually an elder or a male) to tell them that they are worthy of praise. So 'bow down bitches' was a line that I assumed would be understood from the beginning and it's sad that it garnered so much controversy for her because fans of Destiny's Child and her solo career know that it took Beyonce A LOT to even start cursing in songs, so it's sad that people run to being offended instead taking a beat and asking clarifying questions on an artistic endeavor. They still don't have to like it but at least they would have understood better. If you made it this far..... Thank you for coming to my TED Talk 😂 Really enjoyed your commentary Ryan, especially at the end there. Great vid as always fellas!
Every time I look back at old videos I wonder if Beyonce was switched out with Solange for some of her videos. The older they get the more alike they look to me especially around the eyes.
Not yet. We are building up to beychella then work our way up through the years so they can understand, relate and appreciate bey recent switch to multiple genres. So we'll get there but just enjoy the ride
@@amarisbrown1694 Yeah. I heard they had better songs but we're saving them for the higher rounds which doesn't make sense bec you would want the best song first to actually get a shot to make it to the other rounds 😂
I dig y’all journey and also reliving them, going through the journey with. Usually I have no problem with your jokes however, the Chimichanga joke for not knowing how to pronounce Nigerian activist Chimamanda, was super lame! Just something to be mindful of in our culture.
Hey, I appreciate you being along for the ride with us! I get where you’re coming from about the Chimichanga joke. Honestly, we were caught in the moment and used humor to save ourselves from butchering the pronunciation. In Canadian culture, mispronouncing a name often turns into a lighthearted thing, and we leaned into that. I’m sure Chimamanda would understand the intent wasn’t disrespectful. We’ll keep that in mind moving forward, but hopefully, you know it’s all in good fun. Thanks for rolling with us and keeping us in check - it’s part of what makes this journey even better!
