Hey Matt, with 200k + miles the main caps shims maybe worn down but you can also and I highly consider a melling oil pump 10296 high pressure high volume, this work worked great and for my ls engine and still running strong just over 300k. Hope this calls your attention. ✌️

Hey bud got an 03 Tahoe with 310k miles and she's still going strong. I gave up on AutoZone, O'Reilly's, Advanced Auto many moons ago due to the quality and the reman crap they sell ya. All electrical & mechanical parts I get them new from Napa or the dealer. Only things I get from AZ or O's motor oil, wipers, etc. Your ride has a alot of mileage it can still take I'm a witness with mine! Keep on trucking!

I had low oil pressure in my 07 Silverado last month (20psi at idle). I changed the sending unit with no change. My oil didn't have many miles on it but I don't drive my truck often, so it had been in there for about a year. I changed the oil and my oil pressure is back to normal again.

Glad that is just the oil pressure sensor and not the engine.
I had the same issue with my Dodge Magnum Hemi. I did a spirited pull and the oil pressure light came on and the cars gauge read 0 lbs. checked with my scanner and it was actually at 50psi. Pulled the sensor plug and it was covered in oil. Replaced with a new Mopar part and it’s been good ever since. It scared me for a bit. I didn’t want to have to pull the engine.

My 6.0L I put in my 85 C10 has had about 20 psi. oil pressure for the past 35k miles. I use rotella t-6 15-40 oil and it helps. Revving my engine doesn't rase the oil pressure. Also a friend of mine said they used to have a screen in the bore that the oil sender screws in but mine was already removed.

If you replace the o-ring and still have low pressure it can also be the cam retainer plate that has a molded gasket that can go bad. Oil flows from side to side within the gasket so you can get a pretty large leak. There are 2 types of pickup tubes so make sure you use the correct o ring for the type of pick up tube you have. I ordered a billet oil barbell kit that came with a bracket that will allow you to hold down the pick-up tube with 2 bolts instead of one. If your engine is out of the car or your transmission is out the barbell is added security. I did a melling high volume pump on my tahoe and my pressure is a bit over 40 at idle and will climb to 60psi while driving. If I really get on it it will hit 80psi

I have several trucks with the Gen 3 engines (4.8, 6.0, and 2 5.3's) and I take care of my parents 4th gen with a 6.2 and my wife's Camaro with a 6.2. Only the Camaro has not had oil pressure problems at one point. I have had 3 bad sending units, 1 oil pump with a sticky bypass (just replaced it out of safety) and a bad o-ring, and one I did not find any smoking guns just replaced the pump and it was back to normal. Its pretty hard to diagnose the sending unit only unless you can reproduce the problem easily and it might be best to put a manual gauge on the side of the block at the front and when its happening confirm the drop there or not. However, once you pull the connector and see oil you know at least that is bad.

Oil pump pickup tube seal. Happens to everyone since it's retained with only one bolt.

I replaced mine w/ a pos from Oreilly’s and it failed the same way! Oil leaking through the damn connector! Beware though, I had to replace the actual AC Delco unit 3 x until it finally worked. I’d have the Delco part in, and after a few months it also failed (2x…!) crazy.

You ever thought about hydro booster swapping the Tahoe apparently it makes the brakes 100x stronger.

I had the same problem with Hawkeye (05 Tahoe) the o-ring for the oil tube pickup inside the oil pan. Talk about a pain in the @ss for a 12cent oring

I bet you probably already know this, but this is what I found searching for my low oil pressure issue. The oil pickup in the pan has an o-ring, when that o-ring breaks (not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when"), it's like the engine is trying to drink from a broken straw. I had a silverado (5.3) with 255K when this issue happened, and my current vehicle (2003 Tahoe, 4.8) at 220k miles. Might be something to keep in mind, since your Tahoe has some miles on it.

I noticed mine was a little lower than normal, so I checked the pressure at the filter and it was good. Turned out the filter was plugged and it only had 1,000 miles on the lof.

Put some rod bearings and main bearings in your engine and enjoy many more miles.

Remember the video where I commented you should change the oil pump pickup tube o-ring when you had the oil pan off? This is the reason why.

The one way you know if you have oil pressure is to lifts start making noise you know it doesn’t have any oil pressure if the lifters don’t make a noise you know it’s got at least about 10 pounds oil pressure I had about the same problem

Thanks for mentioning HP tuners. I saw your E-fans video and began to look for tuners in my area. Not a big selection in the Los Angeles area. What suggestions do you have for finding a tuner or someone that possibly has a way to flash the ecu?
Google search didn't come up with much. Do you have any viewers that do this? possibly in CA or neighboring states that is willing to do side work ecu flashing? Lets start a LsxMatt network!

Don’t buy auto zone sending units...I literally had two of them within a year start shorting oil straight through them like a geyser. Could have lost my engine twice i I didn’t catch that I lost oil psi. Ending up buying an OEM from the stealership and wallla no more issues

I have a 08 chevy silverado and when i start it on a cold start I only have 20 to 25 psi oil pressure an then I get a lifter noise. But when I drive it about a mile the oil come up too 30 to 35 at idle then runs about 40 to 45 psi cruising at 55 mph. I don't know if it's my oil pump or what. What do you think it is??? The truck has 242,000 miles an I keep changing the oil when the oil life gauge gets too 50%.

#Lsxmatt do what I did with my trailblazer i flushed my oil pan with parts cleaner to clean the oil pickup tube. Then did a double oil change. 3quarts of parts clean is all you need. I let it soak overnight

Dude - if you paid anywhere what you said in this for the HO tuners setup, you got ripped BAD. I just got my MPVI2 with 2 credits for $400, straight from HP tuners themselves. Credits are $50 each, need 2 for these things, MPVI2 is $300.
I just wanted to pit this out there for everyone else - the gear to do the tuning isn't that expensive, but it does have a bit of a learning curve.

Dorman makes the sensor and the screen. It's the best next to the Delco part. I've worked for zone, O'Reilly and advance. Advance and oreilly is the only place I get my parts anymore. Plus both of them can get me GM Delco parts next day, and the free same day delivery from Advance with a discount code is sick. Matt, use code TAVARISH25 and you get 25 percent off through Advance online or their app. Same day delivery if you order before 4pm too. Also, I still have those seat covers to send you. I've been in and out of the hospital for months.

Hooking up the computer after it told you you had no oil pressure then you gave it some gas and the gauge came up it possible could be the sensor or wire but the the computer is unnecessary
