- Betty Boop campaigns for Grampy for Mayor, and wins by one vote (despite the fact the town's paper says it's a landslide). However, he later finds out the job isn't as glamorous as he thought. Nonetheless, he helps solve some of the city's issues, such as building a free bridge on the river, creating a public automatic root beer stand, etc., and the townspeople love him.

When you have Betty to lead your campaign then you just cannot lose
It’s such a shame I haven’t seen this cartoon until now. All the Grampy cartoons are breathtaking, but this one just might take the cake. The fire gag made me laugh.

Did you notice that one of the complaints was that there wasn't enough girls bathing in bikinis on the beach, and its also the only one Grampy didn't 'fix'? I just thought that was interesting 😊

Although in all wholesomeness and seriousness, I'm sure Grampy would come up with a solution for this complaint about the whole bathing suite thing.

My guess is the old mayor left a LOT of stuff unfulfilled, and the townsfolk had enough.
