I love how they censor the cow being ripped to shreds, yet they show the aftermath of the bug attack on a human colony in all its gory splendor. Satire at its finest.

After all these years, still one of the most over-the-top satire films I've seen. And one of the best sci-fi film too. Surprising on how good the CGI holds, even after 20 years!
Right! Get some better weapons! If they can afford to fly all those soldiers out to that bug planet, I think they can afford a few stronger bullets. The Napoleonic line battle tactics aren't doing shit! Also, in the movie, they said they couldn't manage to bring much of an air force or artillery for some reason. So that explains that.
They just need more effective weapons, like incendiary rounds or something, maybe coat bullets in acid? It is science fiction after all. :) Peppering them with those lame ass assault rifles just aren't doing it, even when used in battle lines. Would it be possible to combine the firing line with an armored phalanx?
Well, them using idiotic tactics was kinda Verhoeven's point. He DESPISED the book and its militaristic, jingoistic tone (having been raised in the Netherlands during the Nazi occupation), so this movie isn't as much an adaptation as it is a satire and a "fuck you" to the book's message.

It took us a while to get Starship Troopers done. Thanks for being patient! Our plan is to do the rest of the Starship Trooper movies and the animated movie sometime after Corpse Count.
Carnage Counts Hero of the Federation: slasher film with a starship troopers skin, only the ending is worth something; Marauder: really hidden good stuff, the rest is just off putting Trying to be like the novel and missing a lot in looking like a syfy tv movie; Invasion: no satire at all, cg made in japan, quite good, and the book similarities are a plus this time; Traitor of Mars: the best of the sequels, looses some visuals to Invasion, but many other stuff Far Surpases, the OG Rico is Back (from marauders, he's absent in the other 2 sequels) and Kicks some Invertebrate Ass, the satire is back, and even relevant to modern times but way more restraint, and more in the face with an ending that strives towards change, And Kill them All, so win-win, also left open for another sequel, and rn a starship troopers live action film is in the works, and one of the writers said on twitter, it's not a reboot
I wish people talked about this movie and it's follow-ups more. I think this is one of the few series where the sequels are just as fantastic, they keep the mood and expand the story perfectly.
Absolutely agree i seen movie like bunch of times and still absolutely enjoy it nothing small size lol maybe should animation shiptroppers instead shitty garbage third
Look again. The bug stabbed her through the torso twice, then pulled out leaving two gaping holes behind, then stabbed her two more times. IIRC when they brought her aboard she had ONE claw stuck in her - which means she had three unplugged, gaping holes she was bleeding out through. She wasn't gonna make it whether or not they pulled that one claw out.
The reason why the cgi still holds in this movie is because they took time, they perfectly polished the creatures, they did not stretch the skin of the creatures for any movement, and made their movements fluid and really smooth.
Can you do the Carnage count on the original Full Metal Jacket please and for your Carnage Count on the original Full Metal Jacket can you hilariously count Gunnery Sergeant Hartmans phrases please?
I'm definitely sure the actual carnage count was in the billions and that's including both bugs and humans. The invasions itself was nearly 400,000 human deaths on its own (definitely the highest casualty count ever recorded within an hour in human history if this were a real conflict)
Carnage Counts "we glassed the planet" the ships from orbit layed artillery in klendathu before sending in troops, that and the flare looking things every dropship was launching was Artillery as well, and the power of the squad designated nuke launcher, boi, that thing didnt fire kisses, bugs also took their load, but not at the necessary rate, that bug planet likely had Trillions! (They are bugs, maybe even More)
To be honest dizzy could have been saved. If they had left her as is and hadn't ripped out the claw stuck in her; she could have survived long enough to have gotten treatment. Sure she got several stab wounds already but ripping the claw out basically sealed her fate

Starship Troopers is one of those movies where the first is a classic but the sequels sucked and yet they're still being made. Same with Robocop
