Right on dad! Your daughter did an amazing thing. And lots of people around the world, I’m writing from Austria for example, really appreciate the work she put into sharing her adventures with us.
From being weak and having breathing difficulties to outracing thunderstorms, you have amazing recovery. On behalf of that dog, thank you. We love your videos.
“Trucks on triangles” I love that! My eyes got a little teary hearing the support from your parents and Tony. What an amazing village you have. It’s amazing traveling with you visually but also emotionally. It’s impressive how well you were attuned to your body and needs and how you persevered in the end, no matter where your “finish line” would have turned out to be. It’s an honor to call you friend! I’m in awe all over again!
I have watched several divide video journals. This is one of the bests. The narration, maps, and photos are superb. I must admit, I binge watched the series…it was so worth it.
Two great accomplishments - the ride and the video series! I felt like I was with you on the ride - sharing the joys and the struggles. Thank you so much!
What an amazing adventure, I had tears of joy as you finished this ride with your family to greet you. WOW, just WOW. I also loved how you made part of that journey your own by mapping what you needed to. Loved that! What’s next??😊
Awww that means a lot! This summer I’ll be returning to NM to ride the section between Chama to Abiquiu that I missed with my husband, Kerry and Greg 😊 I also have a solo trip planned in Colorado/Utah to get more experience with backcountry camping. Just the start!
Hey Katrina, as a rider currently preparing for the divide, your videos have been incredibly helpful, informative and entertaining to watch. Congrats on your achievement and thank you for letting us be part of your journey. All the best from Germany, Alex :)
I’m glad the videos were helpful, Alex. How exciting that you’re preparing to ride the Divide yourself! Feel free to message me on Instagram @birdsnbikesnballet if you have any specific questions!
viewing your work here during a late may snowstorm, with a full season of biking ahead... simply charmed to have discovered your series. brings tears to my eyes.
I saw all of episodes. A beautiful adventure, incredible strength and courage 💪🏻 GDMBR is my biggest cycling dream 🫠 thank you for the great videos 🙂 Greetings from Poland ❤
I usually don't comment on UA-cam. I've raced the Tour Divide 3 times, and this year will be #4. I've watched everything about the route I can possibly find, and your videos are my favorite. Thank you.
So, Katrina, wow. I really stumbled upon your GDMBR video series. I thought, well, I'll give it a try. I have to say, it was amazing. The photos, the stories, the struggles. You drew me in. I really appreciated the route maps and data you included. It made me wonder, could I do this? I love the scenery. This was a true and very special journey for you, and I am so grateful that I found it. I felt the ups and downs. I was heartbroken when you were ill and decided to quit, but then, as if the route said, nope, not yet, Katrina, you can do this. I loved the picture at the end with you jumping for joy. You deserve to be proud. What an accomplishment. Congratulations and...thank you.
Hi Tracy! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Once upon a time I watched Ryan Van Duzer’s video on the GDMBR and thought, “can I do this?” You can do this and I hope you do!
Catching these videos well after you finished but very much enjoyed your journey. Two things, never quit any bike ride, hike etc on the worst day and how you treated the dog tells me everything I need to know about you!
I rode the Divide in 2022 and took the same detour around the Gila that you did and for many of the same reasons. The alternate route is beautiful and should maybe be included as an "official" alternate on the ACA route. Congratulations on your ride!
This is a tremendous accomplishment, you are so great Katrina! The joy, commitment and resilience you communicate is so motivating. Keep pedaling!🙂 (looking forward to the gear video...)
Well done. I really enjoyed following this journey. I was so excited for you as I watched your last ride up to the border 👏🏼 thank you for sharing such a wonderful experience. 😊
Glad you made it to the end with me 😊 That last ride to the border was emotional; I feel lucky that I captured it on video to relive it. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I’m returning to NM to ride the stretch between Chama and Abiquiu that I missed, and will be doing a solo trip in Colorado and Utah to get more backcountry experience. And then…who knows?
Absolutely loved the series!! I've been dreaming about this route for a couple years but I think your videos have pushed me over the edge and inspired me to get serious about planning my departure. Thanks for that and Bravo to you !!
Yes!! This is a huge part of why I shared my story. If even one woman gets on her bike and rides the Divide after watching, I’ll be so ecstatic! You can do it!
Een diepe buiging en een applaus is op zijn plaats. Ik heb genoten van jouw fantastische avontuur, ik zou zelf zo aan de great divide beginnen maar de beren maken me bang😅
What an awesome adventure Katrina. I'm super proud that you stuck with it through the hard times! Happy to get to ride a very small portion of this with you.
So glad you didn't quit!!!! What an epic ride. Great series. I have Covid lungs now, so I'll never be able to do this ride so it was awesome you bringing us along. Thanks and good luck!
Thanks for sharing your journey! I really enjoyed it, and was checking every day to see if you had posted Episode 5 😊. Congratulations on your amazing achievement.
Hey Katrina. Greetings from South Africa. The GDMTBR got picked up by my "radar" a few months back and is now down as one of the next big adventures. I have loved your videos and while watching them have been taking notes along the way. This series is now part of my go-to-guide list . A definite favorite. It was great hearing you interviewed recently on Day Fire Podcast as well!
Oh my gosh…taking notes! I never thought of that when making the videos. I hope I don’t lead you astray 😄 Seriously, though, I’m glad the videos have been helpful and I wish you the best on your own adventure!
Katrina congratulations on the trip. I'm glad you had a safe and challenging trip. It was nice meeting you and Traci when we (my son and his buddy) camped next to you and Traci at Warm River Campground.
Congrats on your huge accomplishment. I rode several sections of the GDMBR and it was definitely a highlight of all the riding I have done. Your videos and commentary were excellent. Thanks for sharing your trip. I hope to ride the full route at some point. Your positive outlook and grit are very inspiring to me and I wish you the best out there on the trails wherever you may ride next.
Thank you! For what it’s worth, I could see riding sections at a time as being a great way to ride the GDMBR…you can really focus on what’s in front of you that way. I really appreciate you watching and your kind words.
Great series! You have some serious gumption, fighting through illness to keep going. You seem like a great person to ride with. Congrats on finishing this great ride!
What a great trip and fantastic job at sharing your adventure. I'm heading back to Banff on July 6 to give it another try. Got as far as Pinedale 2 summers ago before I got sick and ran out of time. This time I have no time restraints. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

I watched your entire series on this extraordinary trek. In my 65 years I have said this to only, maybe, 4 or 5 people: You are absolutely amazing!
Sorry for the late response, I’m out bikepacking in Arizona! Thank you for watching the series and for your very kind comment.
@@katrinahase No worries, thanks for the reply. Be safe and enjoy the ride, looking forward for the video.
I'll never forget these videos, like me, I'm sure they will help folks push on in the trials of life.
What a beautiful sentiment. Thank you for taking a moment to write.
Two great accomplishments - the ride and the video series! I felt like I was with you on the ride - sharing the joys and the struggles. Thank you so much!
Thanks for calling out the videos! They took a lot of time but I learned a lot about making videos and myself in the process.
