Back in the 1980's I worked at the offices of the attorney's Carpenter's. We had an entire section of file space devoted only for their files. Karen lived down the street (in Century City LA) from the office and would come in from time to time. This was around 1982
I just came across her gravesite on a hill in a beautiful little cemetary just off the 101 Freeway in Westlake Village, CA. So peaceful. It was clear that she still has fans who visit. Maybe some of you will.
Her interpration can still make me smile or cry, what a talent, what a gift, taken from us much to soon. Her sadness still haunts me when I hear her singing. How many performers can afftect an audience that way. I am usually critical since I have been singing lead in a Barbershop Quartet and Chorus for 24 years and when I hear Karen's voice it is really something special

The Carpenters are one of my favorites from the 70s. I was looking at the Billboard Top 100 for 1971 - everything from Jethro Tull & Led Zeppelin to Perry Como & Andy Williams - pretty amazing.
This year I met the carpenters and they captivated me, but when I saw and listened to this beautiful and at the same time talented woman, I ended up falling in love and I can't get that voice out of my mind.. 😭
I am not really caring what genre of music the Carpenters really is, folk/pop/country. it's beautiful. I wasn't even born in their generation, but my father was heavily into music, loved all kinds of music, glad he introduced me to music, giving me a great appreciation of music in all forms. I always will find the 70's most appealing to me.
