In this video tutorial, we will demonstrate how to determine the band gap energy with baseline correction using the Tauc plot method from UV-Vis absorbance data in OriginLab. The Tauc plot is a powerful tool for analyzing the optical properties of materials, and it can provide valuable information about the band gap energy, which is a critical parameter in many applications. We will walk you through the steps to prepare your data, create a baseline, and generate the Tauc plot to obtain the band gap energy. By the end of this video, you will have a solid understanding of how to perform this analysis in OriginLab.

Now i joined PhD and started to learn origin. i wanted to learn Tauc plot.. this video is the best of all with all the theory part explanation. Thank you so much sir.. ❤🙏
Many thanks for the appreciation dear 😊
Please share it with others too
How to decide band gap energy of crystalline material , if this is for amorphous materials ?
While the absorption characteristics might differ between amorphous and crystalline materials, the fundamental approach of plotting
(αhν), n versus hν (where α is the absorption coefficient, ℎ is Planck's constant, v is the frequency of light, and 𝑛 depends on the type of electronic transition) remains applicable. Thanks
Bandgap energy i found 3.76 ev..but Tio2 thin film Have bandgap of 3.2 ev..is there any option i can evalute it?
To address this discrepancy, it's important to consider potential factors that may have influenced the results. Possible sources of variation could include experimental conditions, sample preparation, or even the specific method used for analysis. I would recommend a careful review of the experimental setup and data analysis steps to identify any potential sources of error.
Additionally, it might be beneficial to compare and contrast the methodology used in my lecture with established procedures for determining bandgap energy in TiO2 thin films. This could involve consulting relevant literature or collaborating with experts in the field to ensure the accuracy of the findings. Thanks
Thanks for the useful lecture
Thanks for the appreciation dear 😊
I didn't understand, what, we can use tauc plot only for amorphous semiconductor to estimate the bandgap???
Well, i got thank You hhhhh
Yes. Usually our synthesized semiconductors are polycrystalline, which are close to amorphous. Thanks
Good 👍. Thanks
Sir electrodynamics Ki next vedio kab upload karengay,I am eagerly waiting.
UoP is on strike, as the classes are resumed, we'll start with the uploads. Thanks
Lecture was nice. But you should work on your mic. It is somewhat difficult to understand what you are trying to say.
I rechecked the voice, it's fine with bit of echo. However, I've provided the subtitles as well which will resolve the issue of your confusion. Thanks
Sir which best book refer for this
Please check the references provided in the video description. Thanks
No, this is incorrect measurements of band gap, as you didn't started Tauc's plot from zero on y-axis. The band gap vaule may contain error.
Principally, you're right. However, in cases where there's a bandgap offset issues, starting from y=0 is not right. Thanks
@@SAYPhysics Thanks you sir! You're right technically speaking.
You may check the references provided in the description of the video. Thanks
Thanks for the useful lecture
Most welcome!
