RA.OMUKAMA PRESIDES OVER NEW MOON FESTIVAL
The Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom His Royal Majesty Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I yesterday presided over a new moon Cultural festival which was held at Karuziika Royal Palace.
The New Moon festival is one of the core functions which the reigning King of Bunyoro-Kitara performs every month.
The King led a Royal procession from his throne through Cultural houses up to the Royal Court where different Kingdom officials briefed him about the duties they are executing.
After hearing from his subjects, Rukirabasaija Omukama Dr Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I went back to the throne where he conducted rituals.
After performing the rituals, the Omukama, received reports from the the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister Owek Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi who thanked the King for allowing Kingdom officials to be in his presence.
The Premier further informed Omukama that his subjects are working hard to improve on their livelihoods.
Owek. Byakutaga reported to His Royal Majesty the ongoing preparations to mark the King's 30th Coronation anniversary celebrations. He wished the King and his family peaceful and colorful Coronation anniversary celebrations.
Omujwarakondo Dr. Kabagambe Kaliisa Ateenyi, the Chairman of the Royal commissioner informed His Royal Majesty that Royal Commissioners are performing well the duties which the King assigned them which includes supervising the Prime Minister and conducting oversight on Kingdom operations among others.
He wished the King a successful 30th Coronation anniversary celebrations.
The Chief Prince (Okwiri) Owek Mugenyi Fred Ruchunya reported to the King that the babito are well and they are praying for the King to have good health.
On behalf of the Babiito, he wished the Omukama happy and peaceful 30th Coronation anniversary celebrations.
The new moon cultural festival was attended by the Royal commissioner's Dr Kabagambe Kaliisa, Dr Yolam Nsamba, the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister, Owek Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi. Owek Okwiri, Owek. Batebe, Omupanyarwa, Omukonda, Nyamyaro keepers, Ababiito, Abaranga, Abatimbo, the Head of regalia, Abajwarakondo, Ijuura Kondo and all BKK technical staff.
Palace Staff and hereditary keepers such as the rain maker, Royal drummers (Abakondere), the holder of the Royal Spear (Erihango) the holder of the disciplinary stick (Orujunju), the holder of the garden rake attended the ceremony.
The new moon festival is an old cultural tradition that is done by Kings of Bunyoro-Kitara every month. @kabalegatv #kabalegatv
