They've built a solid foundation with the 7's which has gained more popularity due to the speed and simplicity compared to 15's, once they convert over (and with time) they will become a powerhouse..!
Many of those guys should now be experienced enough and knowledgeable enough to make the shift to the nations 15 man squad, they're definitely worth it now I think. I'd like to see more NFL players or guys with NFL backgrounds take up this game, representing their country in both the Olympics and the World Cup should be a big enough lure.
I fell in love with usa rugby watching Perry Baker for the first time man he's fast yes the sky's the limit as far as usa rugby it's like soccer and American football mixed together it's a very fun game America will only get better with more resources put in go team usa!!!!!!!!

Kupa Cronk, thank you for your comment...there was no disappointment here. I am a fan of the sport in general. I am well aware of what a power house NZ is in the game of rugby especially 15's. However my opinion on USA rugby is coming from a mother of a developing rugby player. He has been playing since the age of 10 and and is now 17. So to watch the sport grow here in the US is a great thing. The USA has come a long way and our youth in general is just getting introduced to the great sport of rugby. Congratulations to all the teams that came out to compete.

My brother went to the US with Paeroa West in 1976 and played a few games. In 1980, I played against Tri-Counties from California, in Tauranga. They've come a long way.

Not really, how many registered players aren’t where you should look. In fact, England have less than 1m registered players, not 1m. But they do have over 2m unregistered players that played last year. But that’s still not a good place to look. Where to look is High School Males playing the sport. I’m New Zealand there are less and less boys playing at High School every year and their teams are strong weaker compared to England and South Africa. In the past NZ had around the most High Schoolers playing and now thy have less and less playing every year. Rugby has been being governed horribly in NZ and it’s starting to make large changes. Schools pulling out of 1st XV comps because they don’t have enough money, Schools stacking their teams. Things like that can’t happen in NZ because it’s too small of a country for people to go around making the sport impossible to play at High School unless you’re rich or luckily get into an all Boys School. Most people these days in NZ are moving to Basketball or Volleyball because of the more even competition

You may like to know that sevens is physically far more demanding than 15s. Over a two day period the team could play six games each lasting at least 14 minutes (every half usually goes over by at least a minute), which gives a total of 84 minutes - more likely well over 90 minutes. This is more than one game of 15s which is just played once in a weekend. Furthermore, in sevens you touch the ball more, have to tackle and run more and cover more ground (due to fewer people to pass to). Just stop talking BS. Thanks.

You may like to know that sevens is physically far more demanding than 15s. Over a two day period the team could play six games each lasting at least 14 minutes (every half usually goes over by at least a minute), which gives a total of 84 minutes - more likely well over 90 minutes. This is more than one game of 15s which is just played once in a weekend. Furthermore, in sevens you touch the ball more, have to tackle and run more and cover more ground (due to fewer people to pass to). Just stop talking BS. Thanks.
