Factorio will always be there. Take the time to recover fully now. Once you are whole again, slowly get back into games and content creation.
The “no screen time” thing is real. Also a thing if you have a concussion. Neurons need to rest and not have the kind of stimulation screens give. I know it’s hard to cut out screens, but taking a rest now means a quicker and more complete recovery.
Video is back! Sorry, had to make a tiny edit.
Stay strong friend, your energy is really inspiring. Hope you get better soon!
/ A Swedish fan
Don't be tempted to get back to work too soon, give yourself time to heal. Looks like you are in good hands, hope you get better before long!
Keep taking care of yourself and wishing you a speedy recovery!
Sending lots of good wishes for full recovery. Don't worry about the content. Take care of you. ❤❤❤
Totally grabbed my phone from the notification sound, lol! When I had my stroke I was in the hospital for 5 days and had a bill for around $150k. They forgot to charge my insurance, so it was "only" $3500 afterwards. For-profit insurance is just such a scam. My cognitive recovery was around a 3 weeks, and I would say don't rush it, expect a change, do not expect the normal. Don't fight the changes; you can spend energy fighting it and still be in the same situation afterwards, or you can spend energy adapting and be in a better situation afterwards. So glad you're able to get home for cat time!
As others have said, we'll be here once you're health is better. No worries on the daily updates or game content!
Luckily, everything seems normal except the walking, so I got lucky,
@@KatherineOfSky For me it was similar, felt good/better in the hospital and then when I was home, back in the routine of things and not in the stress of hospital, I started noticing odd things. That's the big part of the message, or at least what I would have wanted to be told, it will take time, days/weeks, for those changes to be apparent and not to fight them, just accept the change. A lot of it was small things, like washing dishes felt off/different for a while. If there was a sequence of things, I would sometimes skip one step, like in the shower would miss washing my hair or face. It takes time to notice all those things, and I would have liked to have been told that there are going to be little things that feel different even though it's the same. I don't know if that makes sense but yeah that was my experience and, from talking in a support group, most others mentioned as well.
Please take care and heal. ❤
Dear Katherine, it is the most productive thing you can do to take the time to heal and recover. Factorio and we will be still there when you are better. Big lovely hughs from me and I am sure all of us. 💙
I wish you the most competent doctors, nicest nurses and best treatment possibilities so that you'll be ok again.
Dear Katherine, I'm not a regular viewer, I just lurk from time to time, but I really enjoyed your Factorio content, especially when things go wrong and you say "It's just fine" in your reassuring voice. It stuck in my head and now every time something goes wrong I hear your voice telling me that everything will be fine, and believe me, I hear your voice in my head a lot and now you're my regular guest ;D Really, you wouldn't believe how much you've helped me, no matter how silly that might sound. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that we don't realise how much impact we have on each other's lives, and since you comfort me with your voice pretty much every day, I also hope this comment gives you some strength and courage to get through your bad days. I wish you all the best and hope you feel better soon!
hahaha! thank you! Itll be fiiiiine!
I hope you heal and recover - we love your content and we love you. Please be strong as you can.
So glad you are in good spirit and working on your health. Get better soon!
You look much more positive now. People like you saved my live some years ago by making content that keeps me motivated. I really wnt to say thanks for it this way and wish you all the best. Thank and keep on going!
Yeah, don’t be surprised at the outflow of good will. You’ve spent years giving so much of yourself to your community and cultivating a culture of good vibes and positivity. That naturally attracts a certain type of individual. This is a great example of good karma. :)
Regarding the use of screens, I assume it is due to overstimulating the brain through lights and everything else, especially after going through the stress of the stroke. It's good that you have this mindset regarding your motor rehabilitation, it helps a lot in your recovery process. I am doing my nursing training in Portugal and I can say that we have a training that focuses on the humanization of care. I wouldn't be surprised if many of your nurses weren't Swiss, many nurses leave Portugal for all of Europe. Get well soon, my fellow traveler.😊
Please take care for yourself! We all wish you the quickest recovery!
I am glad you are able to establish a good relationship with the staff. Watching you online, I expect nothing less! Helping the Pts like you is what gets me to go to work every day.
As a nurse at an Emergency Department in Milwaukee WI, I try very hard to provide equal care to all, but it is really hard to help the ones who are cussing me out or trying to hit me when I get close to try to help, even with the little things to make them more comfortable.
Mmm. I just made a video about that, which I will publish on my other channel tomorrow. Its about dealing with pain, not taking it out on others, and generally making your caregivers feel good about treating you, and that the things they are doing are painful, yes, but necessary to know the answers. Just shove a tablet in front of their faces and lets see if we can get them to act like adults :D
Great way to make this about you.
@@Thingsyourollup I welcome everyone to share their stories. Its a way to connect with others and just learn to live as a community.
I'm glad to see you are in higher spirit today, the hospitals in Sweden and Norway where i am from is one of the best in the world. They make sure you okay and only want the best for each patients. There are no shame or need to rush, everyone is unique and the need to take their time to heal. You are in good hands. whish you best of luck on your recovery, we are all rooting for you.
I know that feeling of incredible restlessness when you want to be doing things but can't all too well. It is very irritating for sure. But please rest ❤️ fingers crossed for your quick and full recovery.
Yeah, today, after sitting and watching YT for a few hours before the docs arrived I got so bored I wanted to bash my head into a wall. The food is the same every day, the rooms are bland and uninteresting. (I like art on my walls), and its just soooooo samey and boring. I dont know how people survive hospitals. I think I am just built differently.
Always loved playing alongside one of your vids in Factorio or Satisfactory. I have spent my fair share of days in the hospital, and it sucks. I hope you can heal up and get out of there quickly, but MOST, I hope you feel better!
I’m so thankful that you are getting such great care - and you don’t have to pay for it like in America. If you still lived in the US, you’d likely have been kicked out of the hospital because the insurance company would have decided they weren’t going to cover it for this long. But thankfully you are where you are and getting the best care you can get. Continue to heal and take care of yourself!
Take care about your self. We will see you with Factorio when you get your strength back. Good to hear that you are with good spirit, despite you problems. Wish you all the best.
"It is like standing in the middle of Factorioland and not even using your pickaxe." I'm sorry but I laughed quite a bit when you said that because I can definitely relate. It is good to see that despite everything going on you haven't lost your sense of humor. I went through game withdrawals because I didn't even have a laptop with me during my hospital stay. That was probably a good thing, though, because I didn't need to be playing any fast paced games while recovering from a heart attack.
As for English to Swedish translations, if you have your phone with you then you could use Google Translate when you're in a pinch. It would be better than nothing.
Thank you for posting this update on your healing journey. Happy thoughts and healing vibes are being sent your way.
thank you so much! I always have my phone with my and I noramlly use g-translate a hundred times a day. However, with medical things, the translations are inexact at best, it seems. However, none of the situations have been dire, and we found fluent english speakers when I had serious questions.
I hope you have a full recovery soon. We miss your content.
Greetings from the antipodies blessed be on your journey . Lots of thumbs up .
Danke!
Aww, thank you so much for your support! 💗
wishing u a speedy recovery.
Soduko, crosswords, a note pad or a sketch pad are great things to help with that screen abstinence, when that addiction hits while you're on limited screen time.
We dont really have paper here in sweden. I dont even own a printer. I would have to go to the bookstore and get some kind of sudoku magazine, maybe? but I will just give that time to my cats instead
Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery. Your health comes first, so take your time to rest and regain your strength. When you're feeling better, you can ease into things like light exercise and a balanced routine under medical guidance.
I understand how tough it can be- I once struggled with high cholesterol for three years, and it made daily life really difficult. I even felt faint when going out, so I can imagine some of what you’re going through now. You're not alone in this, and brighter days are ahead. Looking forward to the day you're back to doing what you love-maybe even playing some games again! I personally enjoy engineering games; they’re a great way to unwind and challenge the mind. Wishing you all the best on your recovery journey!
Take your time for recovery! That's the most important thing. If you read this check your screentime. I give you a stop now. (I am also thankful to hear from you) take care of yourself (we take care of each other)
Good to see that you're up and can laugh again (at least a bit). Please take care, take your time and get well!
worked assisting a person with tasks. They were recovering from stroke. We went to a pool every few days for therapy
Thats nice! Im not sure if indoor pools exist here. Probably wouldnt be great for my foot wounds either... but nice thought!
Could try meditation to help fix that racing mind, Imagine you body is your factory, send some bots down to fix that broken belt system in your leg, Biters are out of control in your finger fix em with a few turrets ect. Apparently this sort of thing can also help with recovery and at the very least it cant hurt. Hope things continue to improve for you.
My mind isnt racing. I hate meditation, It does nothing for me. Thank you for the good wishes :-)
@@KatherineOfSky Ah maybe I miss interpreted some of what you were saying. I suffer from very fast thoughts and needing to have my brain occupied or I go stir crazy so I probably over identified.
Thank u for the update and dont worry about us (the peeps) 99% understand and you need to recover and we not forgrt you , all will be ok. Thank you for he vids, you just made me remember that youtubers are only human and have human problems in RL, RL is more inportant then YT. Bless you and your family!!!
Hope you're able to find a way to rest, wishing you a full and speedy recovery ❤
Keep strong. We are here for you.
keep up your recovery. we'll keep watching. i got bamboozled with the notification xD.
i would avoid googling since youre in the hospital ask them.
sorry to hear about health issues. we've followed your game play for years. get well soon.
Thanks for the update, thoughts and good will to you. I like the idea that if it feels bad then do more...lol
Oh my god, Katherine, i really hope everything goes well for you
First time commenting (ever), I wish you all the best, and hope you recover. Always enjoyed your videos.
Suffering an injury is the same no matter where in the body it is and it takes time to heal. Take that time, don't feel pressurised to make content, we can wait.
by the way in swedish fork is gaffel and spoon is sked
You're right about the prices here in the US. I had to visit the hospital on Friday, I was there for 3 hours and did not get a room, just a bed in the hall, one bag of IV, and some blood work. 7k +, smh. Anywho, wishing you the best, relax and take time to heal.
$7k?????? Holy Flaming Dollar Signs... Wow. Im sorry. I hope you are feeling better.
@@KatherineOfSky Thanks, I have to go to a specialist which takes a few weeks to get in, but I'm doing a little better. I'm just glad you are there, you don't need to add extra stress, that's the last thing you need. I hope your well and good to go fast.
Im not fully up to date on your situation, but i just wanted to say... I really appreciate you, and I hope you get better soon!
I used to watch your factorio videos a lot back in the day, and youtubes algorithm brought you back to me.
The only thing i can say is... Try to stay positive, and keep perspective in mind. Its easy to sink in, and focus on things that get you down.
Plan for the future, and we'll be here waiting for what ever your plans for the future are :)
Be careful, and follow those doctors' orders! Loveya, KoS!
Wishing you a speedy recovery Katherine
Get well soon, Kat!
It is a general recommendation after a stroke to limit screen time including TV and computer. Also bright lights should be limited so maybe ask for overheads lights to be turned off and just have background lights like wall lights on. Use your computer in short burst is recommended with your brightness turned down and fonts turned up for easy reading. Wishing you all the best on a full recovery.
The lights here are pretty awesome. The overheads can be adjusted to any brightness, and there are "programs" - sort of a warm color for morning, and evning program is more purple/blue. Its kinda cool.
Nice, what an awesome addition to your well being, love this!
Get better soon! Sending good vibes over to Sweden.
I just started rewatching some of the older videos, leaving likes as I go :)
I'm glad for you that your not in the US dealing with this now. What you mentioned with the number of staff amused me as that's very much what I saw recently in hospital here in NZ - I asked because I was curious and it was because of the way the shifts work apparently.
Take care and hope you recover soon.
Wishing you nothing but the best! Get better soon!
I can't give $ at this time but i am sending you positive and healing energy.
Thank you so much!
I recommend Simon Whistlers Or History Time content as a podcast content if you need to avoid screentime. Good and stimulating content that you don't need to watch.
Looking forward to your next update, speedy recovery!
Ive watched Simon for years: he is so funny!
Get well soon! ❤
Get well soon Kat. ❤️
Please get well soon!
Thinking of you ❤❤❤.
Happy to hear that things are looking better today! Please take care and heal fast
These events will sweep you of your feet and turn your life upside down.
The best thing to do now is to go with the flow, let everything (accept your cats, take care of them and yourself!) go, and concentrate on the important stuffs to get better.
Its like getting 4 new planets to explore, its still the same game, but you need to learn a lot of mechanics all over again, this is the time to design new blueprints for RL.
I hope my comments help you, and give a smile on your face, youre strong i believe in you!!
Its actually ok. No new planets to learn. Just need to practice some walking since my mech suit is in the shop :D
Keep improving Katherine. Love you and your videos.
Blood thinners reduce blood flow to extremities and the reduced blood flow might make them feel cold. I don't know about screen time, but I do know that both rest and activity are important in healing (and that's both physical and mental rest/activity.) As much as I want to know how you're doing, it is ultimately more important for you to heal, even if that means going dark for a while. Would love to send you a physical card from here in the USA, if you have some sort of mailing address / post office / drop box that you're willing to share.
Get well!
UA-cam take most of the SuperChats so not best way to donate.
@@TheStevenWhiting Oh, good to know.
Not "most". They take 25%.
Any gift, no matter the method, is very much appreciated: thank you so much @demonkoryu! 💗
@@KatherineOfSky Thank you 🥲
Hope you get back to feeling your best as soon as possible!
I dont comment on youtube usually, but i hope you get well soon kath.
Please take care, your health is a priority.
my hospital stay was 70k+ i had a heart attack and a stent put in so not cheap with no insurance. here in the U.S. the government hates it citizens health insurance is too expensive unless i live out of my jeep.
I know the feeling. I once had a surgery bill for $110,000. I hope you are doing ok.
I hope you get well soon❤
Fork=Gaffel Spoon=Sked
Your only priority is to take care of yourself. We will be here cheering for you.
🍀 get well cath 🍀 and take it easy :)
Healing isn't linear, there may be setbacks, but you're still healing! Not watching stuff on a screen makes a lot of sense, since screens refresh dozens to hundreds of times a second, it causes strain and I can see how that is different from listening to something or reading something.
Take care of yourself, as a viking you'll sail through this!
När jag var liten och på utflykt brukade jag få med mig ett hårdkokt ägg i min matsäck. Så jag tror att det är ganska vanligt att äta ägg bara som de är.
Healing is not always linear. There will be setbacks, but that's part of it. I hope that doesn't discourage you too much.
Great progress follow up, hope they let you go home soon, before the hospital crazy really sets in.
I hope you have some good books to read. I've been getting into Sanderson
Fork = Gaffel, Spoon = Sked... so says google. Figured it might be easier to find the answer in the comments then going to look it up
I feel like the advice about limiting screen time after a stroke may be anecdotal. To be specific, there isn't a recorded correlation between screen time and complications after a stroke.
Rest is important. Care for your kitty family! We'll still be here no matter what. We love the updates, but it's way more important to de-stress. I'm glad you're in the right hands and in a place where they put your health first.
Thank you so much for all the good content. Hope my small donation will help you in some way.
Aww, thank you so so much!
I feel bad liking the video, it seems to me that that says that I like that you're in the hospital. I'm probably overthinking it though. But I've done a like for your recovery :)
It means you are supporting me!
Please do not rush out of the hospital. It is free to be at a hospital in Sweden. Take your time, small trips to the cats will help you too.
The problem is tjat I am stressed to the max. I am like a unicorn, I dont do well in captivity, and I have been getting anxiety every day that I am here (and that is not a normal thing for me), I feel like bashing my head through the wall because of the boredom and sameness of food and walls ,and its so unstimulating, my brain is rotting away.
❤❤❤
just get better first. we won't go anywhere
Don't worry about the games. Time now is to heal.
get better soon 😶🌫
Can't make new videos? Don't worry, I'll watch the old ones! Get well soon!
Take it easy, take care. "Skynda långsamt".🌻
hahaha
Take care of yourself
Kath, relax your mind and relax your body. Right now your blood vessels are apparently and clearly weak. They are treating you in an attempt to strengthen your system. But while you are in a weakened state, you should be putting your circulatory system in as little stress as possible. I know these videos are your attempt to organize your thoughts and that they are comforting for you to make, but they do pose a form of stress. All thinking and acting pose a form of slight stress to your circulatory system(and in the case of the brain remarkably pathway consistent dependent on brain areas utilized by a particular task) and the best move to minimize damage and recovery time is to basically go into meditation, as long as you can tolerate it. Try putting on some really really comfy ASMR and just try to chill out as hard as you can in between physical therapy seshs. We love you and want you to recover. Think of that first.
I dont function like other people. I am stressed to the MAX at being in "captivity". I dont enjoy meditation, asmr, or staring at wall. I enjoy making videos and keeping my brain as active as possible, not letting it just rot away.
I am a rare creature, like a unicorn. Being in such place has me stressed so much Im getting anxiety (which I dont have at all), stomach pains, making my migraine triple in pain, and my neuropathy is like a bonfire.
So your advice might work for others, but not me. I need to be back in my environment with my fuzzy girls: they relax me. Gaming relaxes me, and working relaxes me.
♥
I have friends in the EU from Sweden, Germany and France that lament that my healthcare is so terrible here in the US. It really shows how much the US is a third-world country in terms of healthcare.
Indeed. And I am giing to keep on making videos like that to help educate others in america that there is a better way. I want americans to have the awesome healthcare system we do!
🖖
Are you allowed to read books thou? Or are you supposed to watch walls? o.O
Wish you health!!!
Nvm you mentioned you can read books.
Maybe you could use google translate to communicate....take care
I do, but it is inexact... especially when talking about medical procedures
Don't push yourself too hard now, you need to get better! 🩹
Take care of yourself
