Aight, bit of a wall of text incoming. Honestly speaking, no. I cannot in good conscience recommend NGS, it is simply put a bad game. This is coming from someone who's been playing PSO2 on and off on JP servers since 2014. Best way to describe NGS would be bland and boring. There is quite simply nothing engaging to do in the game, something the game has suffered from since its launch a ~year ago. While it has improved over the course of past year, most of the improvements tend to fall in the QoL and social category while the core issues still persist. The game lacks a meaningful, long-term goal for players to work towards. The content introduced has extremely poor longevity and is often dubbed as "dead content" sometimes as soon as a single week after its release. Content has very poor consistency in terms of rewards and profit. You're expected to chase the .0001% drop, something a majority of players who've played since the launch have yet to see. Grinding for weeks if not months and having very little to show for it just leads to burnout. There is no reason to chase best in slot gear because nothing in the game warrants it. Even less of a reason when it is most likely going to be outdated in 3 months. Almost everything the game offers is ridiculously easy and doesn't challenge the player. The 1-2(literally) exceptions which expect more from the player have such poor rewards that they're widely considered to be waste of time. There is no reason to get good at the game because apart from "bragging rights" you get literally nothing out of it. NGS' open world while admittedly quite pretty is barren and empty. At best it contains only meaningless busy work in a form of dailies. It also feels extremely small because the way its designed, the most optimal way of farming is primarily made up from menu navigating, multiple loading screens and running from the same point A to point B and only then you get to actually play the game and press buttons for couple of minutes. Rinse and repeat. Story is bland and there's very little of it. The story almost exists as a separate entity from rest of the, once you've gone through the little the game has to offer it just gets swept under the rug and you forget about it until the next patch cycle arrives. Then there's the issue of overly aggressive monetization in form of constant overlapping AC scratches aka fashion which is the backbone of NGS. While I cannot call NGS pay to win in terms of character power at least, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with cosmetics, even as someone who's not opposed to spending cash on the game. It has just become this endless FOMO treadmill. tl;dr NGS is a bland game which suffers from a severe lack of meaningful, engaging long-term content and is in many ways a downgrade from its now 10 year old predecessor PSO2 despite its attempt to modernize the game. The game never was able to fully recover from the disastrous launch.
I feel bad for all the developers who have clearly poured their sweat and blood into making this game and all their work is ruined because of the out of touch decisions made by the higher ups and marketing department. So ya it clear SEGA has zero interest in PSO2 NG being the next big Phantasy star game it just SEGA's attempt to join the scummy group of over monetization by intentionally implementing flawed game design into their game so they can sell solutions to said intentionally designed problems they created. When did it become the norm for designers to intentionally break their product so said designer can sell additional options as a means to fix what they intentionally broke?

so what happens to your character if you haven't logged in since before new genesis was released? is the original PSO2 content just gone at this point?
It's still there and you can play PSO2 if you want to. You use the same character for both games. All it requires is few clicks and a loading screen to swap between the two.
I love this game
To answer your intro question
No
Played ngs for a day and login back to the original pso2 ....
Still nowhere near a game I can recommend people. The grind formula ATM is not interesting enough atm.
This game needs to add more abilities or something to spice up gameplay. Most stale exp I have had in a whole with mmos
As right now. No, maybe in 2023 the game will stop sucking so hard.
Coping
So just like ESO? If this is bad never play most MMOS you will get sooooo mad.
I definitely saw a cute anime girl and wanted to check this game out 🤣
I play New Genesis for the sexy girls and the combat - even if it is somewhat homogenized.
“If you really just wanna play phantasy star yeah you can get in and you can atleast have fun for a few weeks, there’s enough STORY CONTENT for that to happen”. Lmao please tell me you don’t think the story content is why majority play this game. OhhhH no
I didn't say that at all. People don't play it for the story. The symptom of a game that sucks.
So games that dont focus on the story suck?
@@williamknox6648 i don't think that's what he said. he was talking about NGS specifically. then again, i'm not im, so i can't exactly put words in his mouth
PSO2's story wasn't great but it at least had fun characters that people enjoyed. NGS has to have some of the worst characters/character development I've seen.
@@williamknox6648 No, but they need to have gameplay content to make up for it, and NGS doesn't, it's content is stale and pointless and nothing you do has any serious progress with daily lockouts for materials and the baffling decision to keep personal shop locked behind premium. But hey, they can release 4+ gacha banners in between gameplay content updates.
When you need premium to fucking sell something the free to play isn't really free and if your grinding free to play it's a long boring grind I'm at two hundred hour's so ya I played it, you could sell it on the market and get a good price or stay free and sell a million dollar item for 40 or 50 bucks, lol I'll stick with BDO at least you know your being fucked but the market is free.
Dude sounds just like me! Sonic games are ass! I been a fan for 22 yrs
It's a free game and doesn't have a subscription. I don't lose anything from playing it or not playing it.
That's only if you don't get sunk cost fallacy from it. What you say is true but it's similar to saying that you're not in danger for going to a dark alley just because you didn't get jumped. Bit extreme, I know but still
@@victornguyen1175 Still a better and cheaper game than ff14. Imagine spending $60 + expansions + $12 a month for a visual novel afk simulator! 😂 😂
I agree with all of you but mainly with Victor. I enjoyed the hundreds of hours I spent on pso2 as a free player! AFTER attempting to download the game bricked my poor 7yo gaming computer. It ignited me to build a new $1.5k pc so I can play with my friend. Spending that much thanks to a game is ofc my doing but pso2 still bricked my ex-pc
@@peachparee7647 Imagine having friends to play with, can’t be me.
@@cartoonvideos5 Do ya play league of legends? My user is dy 1n
2024 update
Game still bad
SEGA refused to make the game good
Rip, Elden Ring great tho
@@knightspartan7201 Oh it is. Worth even more in that game.
Was horrible at launch. Uhg
¿BODY TYPE-1 & BODY TYPE-2? Ma.... pro...-- asfdaasfgres.

@Tanya Shosa try Guild Wars 2
The word is autonomy. You're welcome.
Wait so PSO2 and PSO2 NGS are 2 different games? I remember I played PSO2 when it was released on the windows store, the game was great but the release itself was BAD. What happened to it? Well nvm 😅thanks for the video you saved me weeks of grind 👍
