She's always been pretty, but she has grown to be so beautiful. i love seeing these different generations of gymnasts in the same competition. Hope the coverage is top notch. I dont wanna see Simone taping her ankles. I eanna see these ladies hard fought routines.
I hope the cameras don't focus on just a few gymnasts and spend so much time showing a gymnast waiting for a score or chalking up. NBC is usually pretty bad about wasting camera time on that stuff.
literally bizarre that Suni has to qualify for championships. someone's gotta fix that. if you're guaranteed to nationals from attending worlds the previous year then the gold AA olympic medalist should probably get that same guarantee??
Suni has not attended camp since 2021 while the world championships members did, so not really a fair comparison. Suni has not also competed elite since 2021 and that is two years of not having an elite competition. What you are suggesting reeks the Karolyi special treatment to some gymnasts and the optics would be so bad especially for the athletes who are showing readiness and are expected to show they are ready but let's give the Olympian who have not competed anything elite in the last two years a pass.
Interestingly they have or had that rule in figure skating. Evan Lysacek was automatically qualified for Grand Prix assignments and Nationals in 2011-2014 after he won the Olympics in 2010 even though he did not compete at all in the 2010/2011 season or the seasons afterwards. Suni has been competing even if it was "just" NCAA 😊
It really isn’t. Gymnastics is a very demanding sport, and USA has such a deep talent pool that the best possible team really just depend on who is at the top form that season. Suni, with her health problems, show great form but doesn’t guarantee to out perform other girls yet.
Like these interviews, just wish they wouldn't do them in the arena with music blaring in the background. It almost makes what the person is saying unintelligible. They've got to create or utilize a separate press room when doing interviews after an event that the ladies can go in, do questions, then walk out.
