Rooster alerted a fox which he fended off for 5 minutes or so until I was alerted and released the dogs which finished the fox off. Had to put the rooster down out of mercy as he was missing a foot. Thankfully his cum been frozen prior and now his grandsons take the mantle as well as on other farms. RIP KING (2008 - 2018), the sunrise is forever yours.
Some people make their chickens do free roam as there are specific breeds made for that, the method is used to keep down the bug population in their yard. @@rhondaskiles5740
The best rooster I've had wandered in our yard and stayed for about 10 years. He was multi colored and I was never sure what breed he was. But he was wonderful, we could walk anywhere in the yard and he never bothered anyone. Never aggressive toward people of any age. He fought many fights for his girls. He taught other young roosters how to behave. His last fight we found him in the yard and got ready to bury him when he moved! It took several days for Bob to gt around again but he recovered. He was left with a limp and looking awfully beat up but lived several more months. I hate that he past. I don't ever think I'll find another as good as our Bob.
My main rooster is a black Australorp. Hes been the absolute best at managing his flock. He tends to keep his distance when we enter the pen its true, but its awesome to see how he watches over the hens at all times even during feeding times.
I’m surprised Marans roosters didn’t get a mention. We have a black copper maran rooster at work. He’s so gentle, leads his ladies around to food, waits until they’ve had a go before he has some, waits outside the coop when they’re laying etc. The only time I’ve seen him get feisty was when someone’s off lead dog tried to chase the hens and he soon saw to it. Feels bad we called him Hugh after Hugh Hefner 😅
I had aggressive and large Australorp rooster. He was very bully to all birds, and when he attacked muscovy drake, muscovy drake beat the shit out of him. Since that fight, rooster was avoiding muscovy drake in large circle
Don't get Jersey Giant roosters. I had several of them, one was attackingme when I was feeding them, and he never protected his ladies. We actually lost two chickens during his short reign (we made him soup) and I saw him hitting the chickens also, he was a bully. The best rooster we had was a silver wayandotte, who actually sacrificed himself for his ladies fighting a hawk to the death, poor thing. I still miss his loving behavior towards his ladies, he always called them towards him offered them worms and protecting them with his life. 😢
My roosters were all hatched and raised by incredible grandmother hens. All were powerful, incredibly protective and polite. two were martyred in battle protecting their hens, ensured no hen was taken by foxes. They will forever rest in the halls of the great mother.
Australorps can sometimes show aggressive behavior, not just towards hens but also towards other roosters. This can depend on various factors such as their environment, social hierarchy, and individual temperament.
Java roosters are indeed a rare find and have a wild streak, often choosing trees over coops for roosting. Their love for the high branches is a natural instinct for safety. Offering them secure and comfy spots might help keep them closer to home.
I have a game rooster and 3 dogs came to kill the game hens and the rooster fight them 2 run 1 stay but not for long after that the dog hade puppys and the rooster take out the pups eye
My rooster held off 2 pitbulls and saved my chickens but also survived. He is a Rhode Island red
If you had your chickens in a pen you wouldn't have a problem with dogs
Pitbulls must be in a good mood otherwise ..... 😅
@@naumanahmadtariq8717um no you just don't screw with Rhode Island Reds Roosters they will also kill hawks

Agreed. I have 5 black and blue copper roosters and a up and coming youngster. Top notch birds and work very well in pairs over a flock.

That's quite a story! Seems like the Australorp met his match. It's interesting how roosters establish their own pecking order.
do you mean ostop
Buff is my choice. Thanks
I have had 3 Buff Orpington roosters, all were very aggressive.
Yeah buddy. I got one that's a Dick with a "D". Probably taste like piss n vinegar if you tried to eat him.
Maybe they were buff rocks I raise buff orphingtons they are very gentle our roosters won't even protect the hens from predators
I adore roosters, especially the Polish and Rhode Island Red.

Watch Amanda at Useless Farm. She has a silkie rooster named Brad who tries to kill her on a regular basis. 😉
I have a silver laced Brantam Cochin chick and I think she is a he roo! He’s the sweetest and I pray he isn’t mean bc I don’t want to get rid of him
what.. is it not spelt coaching?
Excellent
I think one of my Chilean Lavender Araucana chicks is a rooster...gonna try a crow collar so I can keep him in suburbia
The Australorps are also mean not only to the hens but to others roosters as well

I have had two barred rock roosters; Roo and Roo2. Very good birds, protective. Roo2 would chase cats and small dogs away.
The Java roosters are hard to be found and they're practically wild, they won't stay around and they will roost on the trees
Java roosters are indeed a rare find and have a wild streak, often choosing trees over coops for roosting. Their love for the high branches is a natural instinct for safety. Offering them secure and comfy spots might help keep them closer to home.
They're the original, real deal rooster
The Cochin roosters get their feet feathers tangled
So RIR number 12 is actually nr 1 according to your comments. :P
I have had multiple faval roosters and they both were absolute nightmares to people and hens.
did you buy them on mars? its spelt faverolle. must have taken years to track 1 down
The Plymouth Rock roosters are mean to their hens
