- Vote of No Confidence (VONC) in Papua New Guinea update: In June, during a PNG Parliament session, a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister James Marape was raised. The Parliament Private Business Committee (PBC), chaired by Speaker Job Pomat, identified technical and naming issues with the motion. The opposition challenged the government's handling of the VONC, questioning whether Pomat would resign if the Supreme Court found fault with the committee's decision. The court granted interveners 14 days to respond, focusing on constitutional provisions related to the VONC process. The court emphasized that the committee - the power to terminate a notice of motion of no confidence. The matter returns to court on July 19th, with attention on Pomat's potential resignation." .
