EDIT: The trader stage calculation contains a typo. The daring adventurer perk provides a flat bonus instead of a percent modifier. So, trader stage = Player Level * (1 + quest_tier) + Daring Adventurer. SECOND EDIT: Putting points into skill does NOT raise by 2% per level up to 10% at max level. They actually increase by 200% per level up to a max of 1000%.
The trader stage calculation, i think is widely mis-quoted ... where you say "quest_tier" should actually be called, in my opinion, "quest_tier_bonus" where the bonus is 0% if you haven't completed tier 1 quests, and +5% for every tier completion up to +30% after receiving tier 6 completion rewards.
You guys are truly the hidden treasure of youtube. The level of editing is leagues beyond other 7dtd creators...just an insane amount of work. Such an extremely well produced video and very informative! Thank you for all the tips :)

Now, to the fun request: Since you spent all that time making that HUGE layout of loot boxes to test all this, I DARE you.... no, I DOUBLE DARE you to make that entire thing in to a workshop POI that we can all install in to our next custom game, lol.
This project was a lot of work but I did not need to place all the loot boxes! The devs have several test environments in the prefab editor, this among quite a few others that test a variety of game mechanics; this one being looting containers. So you already have it downloaded ;)

Id score my hatred for loot groups as 7 since at some point of the explanation my mind tuned out the information coming in and i was just confused into what the hell is happening hahaha
So is it better to do all tiers of a single trader before leveling another trader? Or should you do all T1 for all five traders then go back and do T2 then all T3 etc.? In other words, level them one at a time till maxed before leveling the next trader or level them each by each tier level? I'm trying to find out what approach is more beneficial for rewards and progression. I can't seem to find a definitive answer/recommendation on the best way to go through these.
If you want to progress as fast as possible to best rewards, it is better to focus on one trader and get to max tier as fast as possible. So do quests for only one trader. Doing quests for every trader will slow overall progress. That being said, play however you want :)

No problem! You'll still get the magazines, only the bonus will be reduced if you perked into the skill that increases the drop chance. So if you perk into demo expert and max out all the magazines to read, all that bonus to find that magazine will go away. However, it does not reduce the general chance the magazine has to drop, just the extra bonus so you should still see it in loot, just less often.
You still can find them, but you will lose the loot bonus gained from perking into the relevant skill. So you'll see them less but it won't be a 0 chance.
Seems like the crucible requires only a very low trader stage to appear at a trader. I started a new game, finished the intro quest, visited Joel, and he had a crucible for sale. This was on day 1 with basically nothing done in the game.
I don't know off hand but it certainly sounds like it is available at low trader stage. The chances of its appearance might increase with increasing trader stage.
This is a lot of great info and thanks for all of it. The UnFun Pimps have done a phenomenol job at changing this game into an RPG shooter bs grind fest. They have taken most elements and turned them into being dependent upon crappy RNG. This essentially is slowly fading away the players and the ability to choose a play style. Everything is grindy af, they force us all to play the same way instead of giving us the option to play how we want. Everyone HAS to craft almost everything but they punish us for crafting - heat on every crafting source, takes so long to find the amount of magazines needed to craft anything good & still can't craft t6. Loot from poi's are pretty much hot garbage now. Trader inventory is very lack luster even when you point into it. How in the world is a player supposed to stick around long enough to get their lvl and game stage high enough to get any decent "loot" with all this nonsense?
Yes! If you go to the craft skills tab, and click on one of the magazines, it says in the description boos loot odds with . So just check that out, and you'll know which skill to level to boost your mag drops.
I think there is some contradictory information on how the trader stage calculation works, i saw your first edit in the pinned comment, from what i've seen i would think that it is level*(100%+ (# of completed quest tier*5%)) + DaringAdv*10
I guess you have a higher tolerance to annoyance lol. I took the formula from the xml file so I took that at face value. I'll have to do some tests to confirm that.
Cleared a pop and pills factory and found 3 stone stone axes one thing of honey and maybe 12 magazines at random. no guns no antidote. what tf happened to this game
That sounds like garbage. What game stage where you at when you raided? Based on your findings, it sounds pretty early game. It you had really bad luck 😔
There are mods that make the game more difficult to survive. The devs however, have a different vision for the game so we all have to adjust the game according to our preferences.

The entire vanilla system is frankly moronic The UFP have clearly done all they can to turn the game into a dumb looter shooter aimed at immature teenage boys full of dick jokes and sexist female zombies which is why i personally only play modded i cant recommend the War of the Walkers mod enough.
@@pseudoposse its a superb mod in every way frankly its just perfect and if you use the 7 days to die mod launcher it takes 5 mins to install super fast and easy

You can definitely start a base earlier, at the very least cobblestone. If you perk into Intellect and Advanced Engineering, you can increase the likelihood of getting workstation magazines to tech up faster.

On a scale of 1-10 I would say I now hate the term loot group at around a 14.5

One correction, trader stage ADDS the (1+daring adventurer) level, it doesn't multiply it
Yeah tacobear made a typo, in the xml file, the operation is base_add. For multiplicative modifiers, it uses perc_add. Good catch, thank you!
Good info. I'm day 15 and still haven't found a triple pocket mod.....
Triple pocket mods won't generally be found in loot by day 15. You'll need a higher loot stage to start finding those.

Gamestage is the only thing that scales with multiple players. Lootstage and traderstage are tied to the individual.

So the game has gone from a survival game to a RPG. Do your quests and pick up the poo rinse and repeat. So it is now 7 days to warcraft.
