This is my first time seeing Shura get executed and it's so jarring to see the royals almost gleefully praise Corrin before they do the execution. Would've expected the mood to be more somber, even though they agree, but that's Fates writing for ya
It's really awful. In most media the heroine balking at gratuitous violence and murder is considered humanizing, but it's written here almost like natural character development that Corrin learns to, uh, execute prisoners?

@@NicholasM200 for what it’s worth, I don’t think this actually qualifies as “gratuitous violence,” and sometimes it’s a mistake to project 21st-century moral philosophy onto a setting that has none of our modern logistical or social structures. It’s a deeply naive thing for Corrin to just let Shura walk (and rearm himself!) after having just committed a pirate raid, and if you didn’t trust him to that extent, what would you do with him as a prisoner? Send him back to Nohr on one of your ships, on a journey that could take weeks while you need them to support your invasion? Have someone stand guard over him for months at your landing site? March with him all the way to Shirasagi?
Of course you’re right that this game does that stuff all the time, because Fire Emblem does not treat the medieval setting seriously and never has (and that’s fine)
could you explain a little about the choice to *not* pair up attack to kill and instead use azuras action at 39:38? was it just for weapon exp since you knew you had the actions to clean up anyway?
Just for actual EXP on Azura-which was really just force of habit more than anything, since that was worth a while one point. But yes, I knew I had all the actions I needed regardless.
