- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- As we come to the end of our first sailing, cruising season, we approach the mouth of the Rio Dulce in Guatemala. Here, WE will spend the next three months tucked away in this cruiser haven and hurricane hole.
We check out of Belize and arrive to the port town of Livingston, where we check into the country and cruise up the sweet river about 22 miles inland towards Lago Izabal and dock up to secluded eco-hotel and marina called Boatique. We will call this place home for the following months and look forward to exploring inland of the country.
Join us on the adventures of WE, as we start another chapter of this journey and continue to add to our list of lifelong memories.
Details about entering Livingston & the Rio Dulce:
Raul is very helpful when it comes to your arrival for clearance and clearing out of the Guatemala. He will assist with your cruising permits, extentions and even assisting with a tow service for boats with a deeper draft trying to get over the sandbar at the mouth of the river. He uses Whatsapp and is very responsive to help the cruising community while they stay in Guatemala.

Been watching cruisers, mostly Delos and Vagabond for years. Saw your channel but never took a look. I'm glad I did. You two are happy, fun, and enjoyable to watch. I'm old and raised my kids. I like that it is just the two of you. Thanks for posting kids. You're special.
Fantastic, First time we saw THIS place up ⬆️ the Rio Duce…!! 😎👍✅
Welcome to Guatemala, Oso Yolo Antigua Guatemala.
This brings back very happy memories of wonderful Guatemala..
Good memories, good people and good times in Guatemala will be forever cherished in our little marina tucked away in the jungle.

Yes thanks so much! We went to hike Acatenango and were shocked at how cold it was (next episode) and then we also went to lake Atitlan and visited some of the towns around there.
We will have to save some other places for our return! Can’t fit it all in one trip.
We visited el boqueron on the 2nd day we were in the rio! It was so impressive and all to ourselves.
Excellent vlog!
I love how you balance the close-ups with the drone wide shots of the surroundings; also appreciate the shots of the map to orient us. Of course what I always "want more of" is you guys - especially love accompanying you on outings - I feel like I'm getting to know just a little of each of the places you visit.
The scenery of Guatemala certainly does make it for an easy subject to film. So much beauty surrounding us. We are so happy to feel apart of it! We will need to make it for real sometime that's for sure. AOL
Rio Dulce, what a beautiful place
That it is!
Love the public transit! You have to admit that was a fine handhold. Epic drone shots!
Very solid handhold that's for sure. Some good welding was had for that ride! Really didn't mind the wind in my hair for that wild adventure. Thanks so much for watching and your comments!
Loved it. Loving the real experience of your tasks and information that is helpful to other sailers. Rio Dulce jungle looks intense.
Thanks ma! We are really diving into more projects as we continue to move and live on the boat. It's helpful for us too when others give us feedback or tips on things we are trying to figure out and fix. The Rio is a magical place!
I lived in Río Dulce 5yrs @ my mom home but I didn't like it but I'm happy about you guys bc looks like u really enjoyed it. Saying hi from Atlanta GA. 😊
Well hello! Thanks for commenting, hope you are happy and healthy!
Can you imagine driving down any road in the US like that? Ah, the good old days:)
Haha RIGHT, not no mo
7:57 OMG those views are amazing.
Awesome video guys, sick drone shots dude
asking what we want to see more and less of is such a loaded question, i'm not touching that one. thumbs up God bless
Absolutely amazing footage guys. Music selection is better matching the feel of your video. I will always request more underwater footage of coral reefs and the small sea critters. Great job, cheers and fair winds
Not so much underwater life worth diving in in Guatemala, but WE are with you, we love the underwater stuff. Wait until we post our video of our Pacific sailing with dolphins!!!! It's amazing!
That was fun 😍 great video guys💖
Guys that was great video. The falls were so cool. Took a little navigating in the shallows looked like but seemed to be well worth it.
Until our courses cross, fair winds and full sails.
Jack and Billie
never2old adventures
Thanks guys! Appreciate the watch and comment of course. The waterfalls were pretty special. We ended up going there a handful of times during our time there. We certainly look forward to crossing paths someday soon! Fair winds sailors!
Great to see you @boatiquehotelandmarina. I have been following them since they were @sailingatlast.
Isn't that a great place! Hope you get to go there. We absolutely love the whole family and really enjoyed our whole time with them this hurricane season!
Awesome video guys. Miss you guys and the Dews. Not the same with everyone gone. Will look forward to Panama when we can catch up again.
MISS YOU ALL!!!! We miss our Boatique family. We most certainly will have a reunion in Panama! Thanks for watching. More to come at Boatique!
that part through the river was amazing, really well done with drone and the editing! p.s. in Nepal and India was the same with the bus...
Just finished up this first season i see you have many more episodes and will be watching them all. Your videos are very inspiring and make me want to pursue sailing in the future as a retirement adventure (not so distant future :) ). I would like to hear more of how you learned to sail, did you have sailing experience before you moved onto the boat and what would you recommend to get started? Also, where are you getting your information on which ports to sail into and what processes you need to follow? Thanks so much for the videos I hope to catch up and follow you more real time :)
Hey Jon, wow thanks so much for watching and glad you found our channel. We had a similar experience to you, watching other channels sailing and traveling the world, we just had to say, " we can do this" and WE did! It's a beautiful adventure and everyday is different. Everyday is not always perfect but it keeps us on our toes. We just jumped right in honestly and went for it. No prior experience, well little for Warren, but overall we had to learn a lot in the first few months. We did our research and found the perfect boat for us and took it slow. Actually, some might not say that considering we have done over 8000 nautical miles in our first 2 years! hahah. One of the best sites we have used to get all the information about ports and clearance is called Noonsite.com its a lifesaver. Saves you time trying to figure it out where to go, what you need! I hope someday soon that you get to fulfill you dream. Call it a plan!
Cheers, WE
Solid video! My only thought at the end was I wish we got to hear from you two more. I know it's hard to open up on camera, but a recap of the process to get the broker, or maybe the experiences of the day trip would vee really cool. Becoming a sub, I hope you all keep making videos!
Awesome! Thanks John. WE too want to have more recaps and talk about some of the experiences. We are slowly becoming more comfortable speaking in front of the camera and we have to continue to remind ourselves to do so, because we can get so caught up in recording solid stuff but then not have much to follow up on. Thanks again for the tip and becoming our SUB! Much appreciated!
ahi en rio dulce se filmaron las peliculas de tarzan y king kong
Did you give your new mates some Colorado swag to represent ?!
Oh you bet we did! We have more in the making with some WE|sail on it! Can't wait to get it.
You checked into Guatemala wearing a Belize shirt? You're lucky they let you in...
Your video skills have improved. This is one of your better vids (IMHO). Keep it up!
Right! It must have been my boyishly good looks that made them give us the visa stamps. Hahaha. I hope my skills have improved because I know my wardrobe hasn’t! Thanks though seriously, we really appreciate the watch and we will continue to improve we hope!
Love your videos...we have the same Lipari and have been on this boat for the past 3 years but have been full time cruising for the past 19 years....could you post the music titles on your videos when possible....stay safe and have fun....Francie S/V Barefootin
2👍🏻👍🏻⚓️
Just found you (with Brian, Kazza, & Nugget).
Awww super! Welcome aboard. Enjoy the adventure, you are starting for the beginning! Whoa can’t wait to hear what you think as you binge to present day!
@WEsail I am so excited to come along for the ride and adventures with you.
Hi Guys! We are headed to BVIs in January, what time of year were you there? Was the water warm? We are chattering with moorings
Hey! We were there in April. It was warm and the waters were perfect! I think January will be just perfect for you as well. Moorings is great, will you bareboat it or have a Captain?
We loved cruising the BVIs and don’t miss out on visiting the baths (try to plan around the cruise ship days, that way you will have it all to yourself)
Bareboat! We have boating experience on the North Carolina coast where we are from but our boat is a 235 Grady white dual console, we have never driven a cat! We are so excited! We are obsessed with watching your videos! When is the next one?? Lol
@@lesleynunn5671 Sorry for the delayed response. After the cat there may be no going back! 2 motors and you can maneuver pretty easily, plus you can take it in shallower areas. Thank you guys so much for watching our videos! It means a lot to us and we hope to get some good information from them.
fu@king amazing!!!!!! more of this less of the beard of bees lol just kidding probably get some sweet a$$ honey from that beard lol well someone does lol
Thanks man! The beard is where it's at, even in all this heat! It also helps blending in with the monkeys in the neighborhood! Thanks so much for watching :)
@@WEsail cant wait for the next one!!!
I was there years ago. Great editing but the backing soundtrack on this and basically all these cruising video channels suck big time. If you aren’t listening to the local radio stations in the places you visit or coasts you sail along, you ain’t really there. Imagine this video with marimba music, everybody be smiling, thinking, “What’s with this kooky soundtrack?”
Mirror glasses are disturbing ... just sayin'
