    I’ve decided to post a review after reading some negative ones ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB I followed the cleaning instructions prior to using and preheated as well to ensure that we didn’t get the “plastic” smell or taste some have mentioned in other comments. I cleaned the basket with vinegar and water and the dish soap, and preheated it 3x to be sure. Honestly, the cooking time took about 30 min for larger wings and it’s a good idea to turn the meat half way through to cook evenly. The meat taste delicious 😋 Also, there is no mess on the counter from the vapor released during cooking time.

    I think you have to prep the potatoes in a cornstarch / water slurry mixture before putting them in an air fryer. But you are correct. You can't just sprinkle cornstarch on and get a crispy sweet potato fry. It doesn't quite work that way. Thanks for the video.

    Thanks i liked your seasoning you used on the first batch of fries, definitely will try it out.
    On the 2nd batch, you used the corn starch in a wrong way. Corn starch or any type of frying flour needs to be soak with oil in order to be cooked. Or another method to use corn starch is to steam it in order to immitate a thickness of meat. In dimsum chicken feet dish, they liked to covered with starch flour alot when steamed. So if you want to cook with starch flour in an air fryer you will need to cover your fries with alot of oil and at high heat.

  • @JeremyRunner
    @JeremyRunner 4 роки тому +9

    Not a good comparison. The only variable between the 2 should have been the cornstarch. You had different size cut fries, different temp, sprayed additional oil, and it was 2 different potatoes. Would be nice to see the exact same fries, same temp, etc with the only difference is the addition of corn starch.

    Air Fryers are amazing and we do sweet potatoes whole and yet to cook homemade chips as we have always bought frozen from market. Find the bought frozen are not as crunchy and always abit soggy with or without cooking spray/oil. We have cooked kumara whole without the oils and they were dry and nasty. We add seasonings only on them as we do whole natural foods and usually cook in lard/fat in our big oven. Can’t wait to air fry sweet potato chips as they are expensive to buy frozen. Don’t like the idea of corn starch (unhealthy). Years ago home made chips and roasts were coated in flour before cooked and then done in lard, they were nice but still am choosing to be healthier so will just use seasoning. Wonder if a drizzle of honey would be nice as it is on other vegetables. Just a thought. Air Fryers for some are bought for the notion that there is no need for oils and sprays but I have found for our cheap fryers that foods are better cooked with spray. I was told it depends on the air fryer as the more expensive intelligent versions can cook better without the fuss but who knows as we can’t afford them

    • @TheAirFryerGeek
      @TheAirFryerGeek  3 роки тому +1

      The heating element is much closer to the food compared to a normal oven. I have shared many articles about EVOO and smoke point. health.usnews.com/wellness/food/articles/why-you-should-stop-worrying-about-olive-oils-smoke-points

      You can't get the crisp without the oil, the point is not having to dunk it into a vat of really unhealthy oils to soak through and saturate every part of it. Olive oil is much better than the oils they use to fry usually and its only really on the outside. You also need it for the seasonings to stick
