  • Probably my trucking videos absolute best story!! My story of the time it was a #trucker vs #cop. I told the cop to go F himself. True story!! I hope you enjoyed my story from my life in flatbed trucking. I don’t think this way of all law enforcement, just this lying cop.

I've been driving for over 28 years. I started doing mobile truck repair in '95. I have witnessed some wicked behavior by our law enforcement. Pure evil conduct. The only way to hold them accountable is continue to report bad conduct.

I had a very good friend who was a Teamster for maybe 25 years. Drove 18 wheelers long distance. Aparrently his company would do occasional psych evals. A coiple days after one, he told me about one of the questions: "you're driving on the freeway, car on your left, car on your right, and some guy cuts you off. What do you do?" He didn't even hesitate. " I run the bastard over. I've got the best of insurance."
    He passed.

I was stopped in traffic for an accident one time. 4 wheelers kept passing on the right shoulder to get ahead, then cut back into traffic. Eventually I had enough so I moved toward the shoulder to put an end to it. One car goes into the grass beyond the shoulder, rolls down the window and says, "I'm a cop". I asked if he was on an emergency call to which he replied that he just wanted to get home. Even with his veiled threats I did not let him in front of me.

@@DrivenTrucking You can laugh now? You were dealing with a maniac who told you, albeit by accident, that he was perfectly willing to lie on the ticket just to hem you up. No telling where it might've escalated to from there if you hadn't informed him of your truck being governed. Pretty funny stuff, eh? Screw it sez you, maybe he was having a bad day just like you were. Yeah, mebbe, but mebbe the next trucker (or whatever) he pulls over doesn't win the Psychopathic Cop Lottery like you did, and dies from a fatal bullet wound, or has a heart attack from multiple Taser torture strikes, or takes a home-run swing to the head from the black-hearted tyrant's baton, or any of a thousand and one other ways cops are well-practiced at causing psychelogical and/or physical injury and/or death. That cop, just like all of them, are latent sadists and/or killers. You gave him WAY more room to practice his barbaric nature either for the rest of that shift, or in the future. All of your cop friends are a lot closer to being just like him than the well-meaning, but nonetheless naive as Hell, cant-see-the-forest-for-the-trees boot-licker your narration exposes you as being. Sorry if I sound unfairly harsh, but for all the violations of Rights and law you let that cop get away with without reporting his piss-poor behavior to ANYONE, anyone giving you props for "holding it together" or whatever, might just be the next victim of that frazzled freak who worked overtime that night to try to figure out a way to put you in jail, or give you an ass-whooping like you've never even conceived of, or actually told enough lies for a Grand Jury or DA to prosecute you for something, literally ANYTHING, and you ended up with a record that could result in your CDL being revoked with no clue how long the PTB (Powers That Be) plan on keeping you in jail for blowing your freakin' air horn. Good Lord man, wake up!

  • @TheRantingCabbie

I've said it before. It's not the laws that need changing, it's how they're enforced. And this goes for just about everywhere. Too many cops get to bring their big fat "obey me" ego with them with impunity. I don't think you'll ever see a cop admitting to being wrong. It almost seems like law enforcement has evolved into its own subculture of "them vs. you".

As a former driver, the paper log thing was entrapment. DOT requires seven days log, but more than one logbook is illegal. So if seven days can't be retrieved in ELD failure, we are in violation unless you copied the ELD to paper, a violation when the ELD is functional. For this exact reason, I always kept a spare phone I only used for BigRoad as a backup. Fortunately, I only ever needed to use it once or twice when ELD failed.
Also, even a 62-governed truck can / will run 110 mph downhill loaded, but with a witness that he passed you, he was incriminating himself. I would have refused to sign and demanded a supervisor. That officer is a bully who got a big head as a grade school hallway monitor and is pissed off at the world because they washed out of the military or couldn't make the grade for the state police. It's unfortunate some officers act this way. I'm glad I never encountered one like that in commercial driving.

That cop isn't unique.. I see that abuse of authority too, I am sure most people have at least once or twice. The entire world is going nuts.. I believe the shi. Rolls down hill, once evil gets into government the entire society breaks down.

About 20 years ago an officer writing a ticket, lights flashing traffic coming to a stop in rt lane, a bobtail tried squeezing into the rt lane in front of me while I'm trying not to hit the car in front of me. I got on the horn to get his attention and the cop on the shoulder thought I was honking at him and shook his finger at me. He radioed ahead to another officer and told him that I was harassing him with my horn. (Found this out from a jail cell from the jailer) He wrote me a ticket first for 56 in a 55, traffic hadn't gotten to 50 yet. Then a second ticket that I didn't even know of for failure to provide drivers license which he had already used to wright the first one.
The prosecution refused to drop it so my lawyer and I showed up for court. Judge threw out both tickets after looking at them. This was Jackson Ms.

One bad apple only works when the other apples aren't present. In other words, cops that witness illegal or inappropriate behavior of fellow officers ARE also bad apples!
These officers that ignore the bad behavior of their fellow idiot officers are equally or even more culpable than the bad actor. Especially when people are murdered by their fellow bad officers. It happens, all too often!
Great story, well told and engaging.

Good for you... about ticket being dismissed.
That's why I don't do truck diving anymore.
Got tired of D.O.T. on my back constantly...for this or that. Its like a No win for truck drivers ( we sign ticket or go to jail ).
So not my cup of tea job...
Now I'm not driving big rigs ( miss the driving ), not the D.O.T.

After waiting 30 minutes I woulda been even more pissed that he violated my rights by holding me there way longer than any traffic stop should last and without even coming up to the truck for half an hour. And when he asked why you honked the horn you shoulda asked him why he thought you did and to give you your I.D. And insurance back and to kick fuckin rocks before he loses his job. Good job for telling him to GFY though lol

I would've just called 911 on him, reported as impaired driver. Whether or not this story is true....who knows. Us truckers make up damn good stories sometimes that's for sure...just hang out in a lounge or in line at a shipper and you have story time for years...
But if true, God job for standing up.

Brother I admire your candor and you were right in what you were saying until the bad apple part. The metrics are simple. If you have a group of fifty cops and one is crooked and the other forty-nine say nothing you have fifty crooked cops, at least two district attorney's and a judge.

Good story. They're not Gods and when they're in the wrong they're in the wrong. We don't have to mince words when we're in the right. You didn't do a damn thing wrong. What's not to condone? I've driven big rigs a very long time and have found that the best policy is to handle it exactly as you did and be straight up. Reciprocate respect when it's given and always try to maintain professionalism but if you have to vacate that posture when you're in the right to get the point across so be it. I've been independent for a long while now but before that I tried to stay with smaller outfits where you become fam and thankfully not going to be fired as a result of that kind of incident no matter how it turned out. Well done!

Your lawyer was in on it. You should have gotten compensation for your time. Your damages were never addressed by your lawyer. Why do you think you were intentionally removed from your own hearing? They are all friends pretending to help the public. Sad but true. I feel sorry for truckers. They are constantly harassed and in my local town they pass ordinances or put up illegal no parking signs to keep truckers away. You guys supply the country with our so called necessities. I appreciate you. Be safe.

When e-logs were just starting I got pulled into the chicken house for a paperwork check. The DOT officer asked for my log book. I told him I was on e-logs, actually had bright green stickers on both doors stating so, he would need to come out to the truck. He told me that I had to have an actual log book and I had 30 minutes to come up with one... He was threatening to ticket me for not having a log book. I went out to the truck disconnected the qual-comm screen and took it inside. The guy loses it and starts screaming at me. His LT comes out from a back office to find out what the problem is and what all the screaming is about. The officer tells him I don't have a log book. I said I do and it is right here holding up the qual-comm but your officer refused to go to my truck to check it and believes I have to have an actually paper logbook. The LT tells me to take my paperwork and be on my way. As I gather my stuff up and walk out the LT is literally asking the guy how f** stupid are you?

I see your heart about not wanting to see him get fire but that bad apple needs to be fired. We as drivers are held to a professional standard of driving then how more is that cop, that dude felt he was above the law driving like he was putting ppl in danger and then trying to shake you down. You could of easily took his badge number and reported that bad apple of a cop as well. Anyway good job bro
