Been a while since I've been on iRacing. At least a couple years now I think. I stopped racing due to not having time shortly after they implemented the dynamic track surface which everyone had been waiting for. Seeing videos like this really makes me want to get back into it again considering I've invested so much money into it and it's just sitting there. When I stopped my account, I had pretty much every track on the service, both oval and circuit, almost every car, both NASCAR and open wheel. I don't have any of the dirt stuff though because that came after. My G27 has been collecting dust for a while. I was more about league racing and hosted races though. Every once in a while I ran the official weekly nascar open & fixed series. Class A for both road/oval, iRating around 3500 I think. I had a lot of fun doing it. Met a lot of great racers too.
Can't start racing again right now but hopefully I can pick it back up again over the winter when I'm not as busy. I've also been in races with a few pro drivers, both nascar drivers like Tony Stewart, or F1's Max Verstappen.
I think I raced with PJ Jones... if anyone remembered him from years past...

the reason you hooked the leader is because the front of these K&N cars have that rounded nose and that high bumper and in sim it registers you picking up the rear of the car a tiny bit, that's why in the K&N cars if you bump you have to make sure that you are square.

I bumped Kyle Larson out of the way for the win at Phoenix a couple days ago. I have never ran into Tony, but I have ran into Bubba Wallace, Timmy Hill, Ross Chastain, Brennan Poole, and Erik Jones. I would love to race along side Tony. I'd be scared he'd wreck me on the final lap.
From one IRacer to another, you had the big time run in that 2nd race but i don't think you had the speed to be able to get around him on the top without a push going into 3. If you woulda jumped high as fast as you would have to make that move you'da scrubbed off to much speed. Cool video, awesome you got to race with Smoke! My only claim to fame is racing Timmy Hill, haha.
DLBTV was also in that race with stewart.
I watch a gppd amount of these iRacing videos, and the number one thing I seem to get from them is a great deal of frustration.

You should consider running NIS FIXED next year as your career progression. They follow the real life nascar in cup cars. Also if you ever want to get into league racing let me know.
I was in a few lobbies with SLM drivers while I was racing the SLM on iRacing. I won maybe once or twice but they usually had a good few seconds on me, maybe more if my iRating was looking particularly good. I won tons of K&N races though, especially charlotte, it was basically cheating, because you could just run just below the speed that your tires started putting down some rubber onto the road (about .8 a lap slower then the pace of the field) and then at about 10-15 to go, you push push push and always won, I never lost a race after I figured that out, until there was a update a few seasons later that completely fixed it. Those were the days. Been playing American Stock Car, and, I'm really enjoying it. Pretty damn realistic, but, It doesn't really compare to iRacing in terms of accessibility.

Tony did cause that wreck don't get me wrong, but that's the difference in real racing and sim racing. 9/10 he makes that work in the real world because of pro spotters and more situational awareness... guy on the outside side drafted just as tony was making the move... irl that bad timing wouldn't happen as often... in sim racing you just can't do that last second move and make it work all the time...

I understand what you mean that they didn't make any moves on the last lap, which is somewhat dumb, but on their side, if they made a move and it didn't work out, they could have wrecked and finished 15th.

I have been up against Tony a couple times now in trucks. Both times he gets taken out by someone who thinks they have something to prove, over driving against him. But to be fair, Tony doesnt run many races, so it isnt surprising that he often gets outrun by the regulars.
Also to your point at the end. The plate racing on iracing is complete garbage. Unless you are in the buddy club where a line a 5 dudes just hold the bottom and let each other back in line. Beyond irritating when you can repeatedly get to teh front, only to have the group work together to hang you out.

Look at 12:00 and tell me that Radman didn't come down the track and caused the wreck. Follow the line on the right and notice how he came down and tried to squeeze the bottom too much. At least that's what I saw
Racing against professionals can be nerve racking but at the same time you can see they make mistakes just as much as we do on these sims. Back in the Nascar 2002/2003 days, I've race against; Dale Jr, Truex, Hamlin, T.J. Majors, Shane Hmiel. Jr. used a alias that was something involving a gas company, Sunco76 or something like that. The other used their name for the most part. I really miss those n2k3 days.
Crypteass was in a league on n2k3 years ago and we got to race against Unser Jr and Christian Fittipaldi. They can make mistakes but it's also a bit nervous knowing their experience and rep. You also get a chance to learn from them as they learn from us.
You basically had nobodies who knew next to nothing just like you back then XD

ended up racing with rico Abreu on dirt and I ended up have a really cool battle with him for the win he would pull away then I would pass and pull away he ended up winning in a photo finish and we are good friends after that. ive also raced with Christopher bell at Eldora and I finished one spot ahead of him

Having raced with Tony more than once, I can tell you that is the fastest way to shut him down in a lobby. He just wants to be another iracer when he is on, not some sort of god tier attention whore. He is happy to talk about the racing a bit and such, but the more people fanboy out over him, the less he talks.

Why does iRacing use older body styles?
chris r You can even use the new ones, for example the Cup cars are just as the same as these you can see on the track today. These cars aren't supossed to be Cup cars, these should be old K&N cars :) (sorry for bad english, I'm not from America)
so Iraicng has a rating system where you have to work your way up. On the nascar side you start i n street stocks go to the K&N series (these) the trucks xfinity then cup. this is a boiled down very basic explanation, but thats why hes driving these.
don't blame the first, second, and third guys. they got 1,2,3 and you got 10th.
