Strawberry rhubarb; one of the things my mom knew how to grow and also to bake. I'd make it for my husband; he didn't think he liked cats either when we were dating (my little shy Tink, who saw me through so many bad days, jumped on his lap and purred, and his world view changed between one heartbeat and the next, and I knew I'd marry that man.). He wanted me to grow both rhubarb and strawberries so we could freeze them and have pie in winter. (As my mom was no baker, I'm NOT a good gardener) I miss rhubarb strawberry pie, because of who is not here to eat it with me.
"America" is NOT the name of one single country but that of a huge continent. Maybe once U.S.A. finally ceases to be the world´s main or only imperialist superpower and does no longer have enough clout to set everyone else's agenda, people might go back to using the word "America" in its original and true meaning. Christopher Columbus came to America for the first time in October 1492 and he sailed back over here on three more occasions. On NONE of those FOUR trips did Columbus ever set foot on what is now US territory. Let me reiterate this: Columbus discovered America, came back to America three more times, and never ever was in what is now USA. Then, Europeans gave this new CONTINENT a name: " let us call it America", they said. Now..., what does this tell you about the real meaning of the name "America"? Did Columbus "discover America" without ever setting foot in America or is America the name of a huge and diverse continent, in which U.S.A. is only ONE of its many countries?
Thanks, but if you think about it, "america" is just short for "united states of america" when used as reference to the usa. When you think about it, this country really doesn't have a name. BTW, Columbus was not the first to "discover" America.

It’s TWO continents, north & south America, encompassing many countries; yes, people in the US act like the US is the whole package.
