    • @TheShaggster37
      @TheShaggster37 Рік тому +2

      Are you referring to him bumping Swayman? He was 20 feet away when the cover was made and 10 feet when the whistle blew. He had time to make an effort not to do that. It wasn't a "protect our goalie from danger" thing, it was a "don't disrespect the game of hockey" thing. There was nobody around him and he wasn't bumped into Swayman, he made a conscious effort to bump him and give him a snow shower. The crease belongs to the goalie, especially when the play is over because he covered the puck.
      I'm not saying Evans did anything wrong there, in fact I love those kinds of plays because on-ice drama is hilarious to me. But more importantly, the unwritten rule of "don't mess with our goalie" is great for the game. Mess with the goalie, you get the McAvoy. True teammates stick up for each other, no matter the degree.

Players have been "paying" for their cheap shots as long as hockey has been a sport and yet here we are a hundred plus years in the NHL and people are still taking cheap shots at the best players in almost every game. So, great in theory but it doesn't actually deter anyone.
