- I have waited so long for the Hissfits 3-pack to be released and I finally got my hands on them!
Monster High has been feeding us lately with new releases and as a certified G3 LOVER I am ecstatic!
This new Hissfits 3-Pack features Toralei in her Monster Ball get-up, plus our first dolls of Meowlody and Purrsephone! These are basically their core dolls and I love getting new characters introduced in G3 and seeing this universe continually expand in doll form.
The first half of this video is my unboxing and review portion and then I close the video out with some customizing and final thoughts.
Overall I really adore these dolls despite their imperfections, with some elbow grease and tlc I was able to elevate them and bring them closer to my taste.

i think people sometimes have a hard time understanding that you can be critical of things and still like/enjoy them. there’s a difference between hating on something out of hand and voicing critique about what could be better, you know? and i feel like people who are fans of something, be it dolls or scriptwriting for tv shows or whatever, can have some of the most constructive criticism BECAUSE we are fans and genuinely like whatever it is we’re talking about. you do a great job of making a positive spin on things you don’t like or see potential improvement, and i think that’s such a great philosophy.
i did get this pack, i was super vigilant and preordered from entertainment earth for the normal retail price the second i saw the listing, and i got my pack in june, luckily without any qc issues. i really can’t pick a fave, i love all three dolls equally and i’m so happy they finally got released! even if it was an extremely chaotic drop 😬
i personally don’t mind the “broom bangs” but i think yours look much nicer and much more natural to how real hair styles into bangs. the broom bangs do kinda scream “i’m plastic” 😆
Yes, I love that sentiment! Fans usually are critical because it’s rooted in love and reverence for whatever it is they are critiquing, beautifully said!
It was a very chaotic release and I caught the second wave of preorders thankfully, but I hope they can come back in stock and remain accessible through the holiday season.

I also like to spend time with my dolls. Not just unbox,throw on the shelf & that's it. I don't reroot. But I give them a hair wash, fix up anything. Like you, I may paint detail on shoes or belts. I usually pick a new doll to sit on my desk while I work, so I can enjoy looking at them. Or I pick any doll to hang out with me. Keeps me touching them, so hopefully keeps them dust free.
I do like that the twins are easier to tell apart and aren't mirror versions of each other.
The mirror thing has its charm but with differences it’s nice to show different personality traits. Also it’ll be easier to remember which names are which

Really impressed with Meowlody's glow up. I had thought you would go for pink boots, but the white is perfect!

For those who dont want to paint The boots an alternative would be to just SWAP meowlody & Purrsephone's bottoms, so The color pallets go, "Black, white, Purple & Pink" and "Black, white, purple & Red" ☝️🐈⬛🐈⬛🎸🎸
I truly appreciate your insights and commentary on all of these releases, but I had a special fondness for this video. I felt really seen because a lot of the issues/excitements I have with this release were things you mentioned. Meowlody's boots have been a really frustrating item for me. They definitely don't match the rest of the color story between the twins, so seeing them white has fixed a lot of that issue for me.
I especially love watching you customize all of these dolls. I love to give my dolls a little glow-up too, especially with painted details. It's great to get some perspective of what another artist is doing to their pieces. Thanks for making these videos!

This is one of my favorite sets of G3 I got some really good hissfits❤
When doing a partial reroot you can always do the knot method to make sure that the hair stays in place without the need of glue. Just tie a knot in the middle of the hair strand and root it in the head like normal.
Ahh thank you for the tip, I haven’t tried the knot method before but it would definitely be great for partial reroots.

Omg I bought it off Amazon in a bundle but if it is a flea comb that’s hilarious. It works really well for dolls so either way, highly recommend 😅
And Toralei is such a sleeper hit for me, always shocked by how much I love her dolls!

canon aside the way i see it is: toralei is clearly the main girl of the hissfits, she's the vocalist and so her design/outfit has A LOT going on, she has chains and a crown and three different colors or so, her outfit overall is kinda extra, gives me barbie princess and the popstar vibes. for meowlody i think her character i kinda trying to ''follow toralei'', so she has the big puffy shoulders thing (like toralei has) and she has the more elaborate earrings (toralei has a crown) and just a bunch of things around her neck, so it's like she's trying to mimic toralei but she's not quite there yet. but purrsephone on the other hand is WAY more casual, she just has simple earrings and a crop top with long sleeves, she doesn't really mind being extra like toralei or her sister, she's just more humble and doing her own thing, you know? also. they remind me of the hex girls from scooby doo

This release has been SO FRUSTRATING to even attempt to get. I honestly have given up. If Mattel isn't going to make it reasonable to buy them, I'll just take my money elsewhere. I'm glad you got them. They're really cute. I hope Mattel avoids the release confusion in the future.
I would recommend to turn on notifications for the Hissfits listing on the entertainment earth website so they can notify you when they come in stock! Also if you follow mattydolls on insta she posts on her story when they pop back in stock which is helpful as well, they are a bit of a headache but they have been popping back in stock
I love your channel not really a fan of this 3 pack I kinda wish the Persephone and meowloody weren't changed that much

Would you ever paint the crown the same gold you painted everything else?
Maybe! It was a slight oversight on my end that I didn’t paint the crown but I think it’s still cohesive enough for me where I’ll probably just leave the crown as is for now.
My Hissfits arrived today!!! Holy HELL Meowlody’s hair is a NIGHTMARE to deal with so far! Yo be fair the box hair WAS extra horrific for some reason, but her hair is SO pale it’s nearly translucent! Plus it’s doesn’t help that mine was rooted poorly & unevenly.
Both twins have jacked up parts that need fixing. My greatest weakness is a tight straight even part! It took me over an hour to fix Meowlody’s but some of that was due to the poor root job.
When you paint the plastic accessories what do you use before applying the paint color?
My backstory for Toralei is she got her hair done with extensions for Monster Fest, that’s why the color is different and there is pink & black. But it way too much hair for everyday life.
Meanwhile I’m planning to trim up Fearbook Toralei even shorter & my core Toralei got a bob almost immediately.
THIS Toralei is 100% my favorite before I have even brushed & washed her hair! I am terrible at braids but I am going to attempt because it looks so good on her & so many different people have braided her hair.
Purrsephone was already my favorite…I wanted the set for her, my granddaughter is named Persephone!
The bangs were atrocious. I love almost everything about this group, but the bangs! You're so right about Mattel putting all that talent into this package, then just not giving a f__k about the twin's bangs. Frustrating and disappointing. Your restyling is fabulous. I' d love to try and redo the bangs, but that'll have to wait. Gotta get my nerve up. Thanks!
I don't love this Toralei, her face seems so square to me 😭
the thing that bothers me (besides the usual nightmare release shenanigans) is that Meowlody and Pursephone have core release style outfits, then Toralei has this elaborate stage outfit on, so as a three pack they look more like two fans in the crowd to see a single singer instead of a cohesive band lineup.
why on earth did mattel not just release the twins as a core two pack for like $50? for sure retailers would have actually wanted to stock them and international collectors (like myself) wouldn't have had such a hard time trying to get them where we have to pay almost $180 to get them shipped from US online retailers
I'm exceptionally lucky that I have a lot of friends in the US who will get dolls for me, and even more so that my friend has bought this 3 pack and is physically bringing it over when they visit in october, but everyone else is completely at the whims of Mattel making awful marketing decisions that seem to constantly exclude non US folks. I hope it will change, but I know it won't!
Yeah this 3-pack does feel a bit strange and mismatched. The Werecat twins bundled with Monster Ball Toralei doesn’t really make any sense but I have a feeling that this was the best way for all 3 of these dolls to get made, sort of stronger together kind of thing is what I’m guessing.
That’s so awesome you have friends helping you with this pack, Mattel has terrible international distribution so I’m glad you found way to get them!
