FOR THOSE CRITICS OF MY SKIN BEING TOO WHITE TO PLAY MOANA:
As I was preparing for this video, I thought about tanning my skin and dying my hair to look like "Moana", but after talking with my family we decided that the focus of this project wasn't so much "race" but rather the beautiful message, that any girl, no matter what her look, can achieve great things just like Moana did.
I actually have an international ancestry. My mom is born Mexican and her roots are 51% Native American, 30% European, 8% African and 7% Asian among others. My dad is born American but his ancestors were "voyagers" coming from England and Great Britain.
So forget about "races" and embrace everyone no matter what they look like. Don't judge appearances but rather talent and intentions.
