DISEASES NOTIFIED UNDER MINES ACT, 1952
1.Silicosis: Inhalation of airborne respirable dust while drilling, sorting, sizing, crushing, loading and transportation of rock/mineral in mines.Lungs are affected,S.R.O. 1306, dated the 21st July,1952
2. Pneumoconiosis :Same as above in coal mines due to coal dust.Lungs are affected Do
3 Manganese Poisoning (Nervous Type):Same as above in manganese mines due to manganese dust.Nervous system is affected S.R.O. 3109, dated the 18th December, 1956
4.Asbestosis : Same as above due to asbestos dust in asbestos mines Lungs are affected S.0.2521 , dated the 26th June,1986
5.Cancer of lung or the stomach or the pleura and peritoneum( i.e. mesothelioma): Same as above due to fibrous dust particles.Lungs or Stomach is affected.-Do-
6.Noise Induced Hearing Loss:Due to excessive exposure of noise near machinery and plants in mines.Hearing impairment.S.O. 399(E), dated 21st February, 2011
7.Contact Dermatitis: caused by direct contact with chemical.Handling of chemicals in mines, stores, plants, workshops etc in mines.Skin of Hands, legs, parts of bodies are affected.- Do-
8. Pathological manifestations due to radium or radioactive substances: Due to radiation while working in mines and plants of radioactive minerals/materials.Parts of the bodies, internal/external organs are affected - Do
