  • Offered as a base unit to reduce costs and appeal to a larger user base, this unit had an array of options that extended it's usefulness and price range. It debuted in 1975. It is a rock solid, well built piece of equipment. This one has the HP10544A OCXO for fantastic stability (option 10) as well as the addition of channel C which extended its frequency range from DC to 100Mhz to DC to 512Mhz (option 30) and the HP IB Data and control interface card (option 11).
The unit will measure frequency, period, period averages, ratio of channel B/A, time interval event A to event B, average of time intervals, totalizes events, counts in time, and provides a check feature for operation. It has a variety of outputs for various purposes.
The video demonstrates these features and the units calibration.

Always fun to leave those HP counters in the count up mode, rather than just the hold mode.

I believe in later years the C channel option was good to 1.2GHz, or it might have just been a separate option. I own two of them at present. I bought three off Ebay (as I recall @$50 each) but forwarded one to a friend. All had high stability time bases, so I swapped one into my 5340 microwave counter, leaving me a parts unit. The only one tenth high makes sense, as crystals always gain freq with use. Left unpowered crystal wouldn't age, so would come up close to last cal set.
