It's not so much the early vote, it's the voter turnout. Democrats generally have low voter turnout compared to Republicans so when you see a massive increase then most (not all) of the additional voters are Democrat. Strong voter turnout does not bode well for Republicans, that's why they are constantly trying to suppress it.
