Never expected to see a road bike with clip-ons in an event like this. I know it’s still a very nice bike but I would have expected them to be having their athletes ride the best tt bikes money can buy, very impressive.
Here is my rant. Who agrees? Apparently the men averaged only 220 watts on the bike. That’s nuts. 220 watts for those guys is a cake walk. That means ANY pro could have done the bike portion. And most could have equaled the swim split. So this was really a test of who could run a super fast marathon off the bike. There are at least 5-8 pro men and women that could have done that today. This all diminishes the whole thing in my view. You KNOW there were so many pros following along today thinking they could have done this.
Thys Wind your points are valid but I prefer to appreciate it for what it was, a team effort & a spectacle that may never (need to) be repeated. When you consider that Joes ave speed of 55 kph is around 4kph faster than any tour de france stage EVER* & tour riders didn’t run off those. (*with exception of TTT’s which have been up to 57kph, but only around 25-40k in length). In perspective for what it was great entertainment.
So true. It was an exhibition and it was super entertaining and interesting. We certainly learned just how important aerodynamics and drafting are. Thanks for your thoughts. All in all, it was great for triathlon :)

Joe is today's real hero, 1 weeks notice, been ill with covid.... Legend.
Impressive, just impressive
The junkyard dog never fails to disappoint
Who who who
They're all heroes, all the teams, backroom staff TV broadcast
Very high quality event and coverage, maybe Ironman could learn a few things
The most ambitious endurance project putted together!
You promised and you delivered. Great job
Is there any possibility of breaking 6hrs?? In a controlled environment like this ??
The bike leg is pointless. In Ironman, you are not allowed to draft that's why no one has ever done sub7.
It’s an exhibition bro..and this isn’t Ironman.

Joe shared his power data, he averaged 280watts versus his normal 330watts for a standard Ironman.
It moves the Ironman into a team sport.
You must be a real hoot at Christmas parties…said no one ever
